That game against Arsenal is a microcosm of why I am so angry with LFC, the team and Klopp this season. For 40 minutes we were awful, didn’t look like we cared or even deserved to be in the top league. A million miles from where we have been in recent seasons playing a possession based game that is boring to watch and disastrous for our current squad to attempt. They could play out from the back for love nor money and fully deserved to be getting played off the park and losing badly. Then all of a sudden everything changes. The slow Brendan Rodgers style possession nonsense gets dropped and We push up the field, get in their faces, chase the ball down and press players when they receive the ball instead of 3 seconds later when it’s already too late, start taking chances with risky passes instead of the keep ball possession nonsense and spreading the play to get wide and put the defence under pressure. We fought back hard, made every duel a fight and matched, if not bettered, the stand out team in the league thus far this season who could do little to stop us for 50+ minutes of the match and ended up clinging on and lucky to come away from Anfield with a point.
I could not be more furious if I tried, because that game shows me that everything many people, myself and Ed01 have been saying for months is correct. Yes VVD isn’t what he used to be and the midfield could be improved but those problems being highlighted are symptoms of issue, not the root cause. We tried to play like City when that’s not who or what we are, we tried to play a calm possession style when we are a team built for all guns blazing intensity. We try to be what we are not and we lose the first 40 minutes 2-0. We play to our strengths and we win the remaining match 2-0 and Arsenal, league leaders starting the game 30 points ahead of us, were very lucky it wasn’t more. The way to win games is staring this team and it’s manager in the face and if that isn’t clear after watching that game, if we go back to playing slow possession bore off nonsense at the start of the next game then I think I am genuinely done supporting Klopp. Everyone knows what we need to do and that game proves what will work and what won’t. Now he just needs to drop the nonsense, tell Pep Linders to get back in his box or better off just leave, and go back to what was winning us games, not hovering around mid-table. Put this season down to a failed experiment and move on and all is forgiven from my perspective. Persist with it and we can look forward to chasing Brighton and Villa for a Europa league place (No disrespect to those teams) and the teams management will have truly lost my support.
There is no reason for us to be in 8th position right now. Let’s hope Klopp sees sense!

Couldn't agree more! The new way of playing is almost like let's purposely f*** up what we spent years building. I can only think that there is a directive from the medical team to play with this reduced intensity 'heavy metal' football where even Klopp us not able to dispute.

This type of season has been due. A few decent signings and a clear out will do us wonders.

My gripe for today match is why does it take an incident between Trent and grant to spark us into life. Honestly why are we not starting game fired up like that. It’s Klopp and team to get them 100% ready and fired up.

{Ed025's Note - good point mate..

A think robbi could be in a spot of bother after today especially after mitrovic incident as for the assistant referee all he has done is to pull his arm away and he never made contact with ribbon chin like he tried to indicate a said to my wife something controversial will happen she asked why because of MR Tierney has it in for LFC.

Rabh wtf have you been smoking Robbo in trouble for being elbowed in the face?

{Ed025's Note - the reason the linesman shrugged his arm that inadvertently hit robbo on the chin kloppers...is that robbo put his hand on him mate, so rabh makes a very fair point imo, you cant do that so the best outcome for liverpool would be to hope the whole thing dies a death i would say..

Again I agree Ed025. There was a time when a player touching an official was regarded as totally unacceptable. Respect for the officials has long since bitten the dust. I’m a Liverpool fan but if anyone should be banned it’s Robertson. End of #tory.

{Ed025's Note - its really high profile at the moment WDW after the mitrovic incident, so the best thing all around would be to brush it under the carpet before it gets nasty mate..

Really Ed25? If that happen to say Harry Kane, that linesman would probably not going to be a ref/ linesman anymore.

{Ed025's Note - 2 wrongs have never made a right mfahmee, you cant put your hand on officials mate thats a total no no, there is only one person in the wrong mate and thats robbo, unless you include hendo of course who was miles over the top with his reaction..

A love this site good honest debate that's why football is so popular a sport a hope the kinsman is OK in all this you would have thought he shot robbo a d in all fairness a would rather forget the whole thing look at the build in the linesman.

Referees love a good power trip. Always thought they should do post match interviews, far too protected.

13.) 10 Apr 2023
10 Apr 2023 07:44:05
Why do a post match interview gives more chances for thier views to be distorted and open them up for more criticism.

{Ed001's Note - because clubs are contractually obliged to give them.}

Ed25 I have to partially disagree. But first let me say that NO player should ever touch an official unless its a handshake. In my view the linesman didn't just pull his arm away he actually moved his arm/ elbow towards Robinson. I'd be fine with Robbo getting a ban as this behaviour really needs cutting out the game. But surely referee's have standards to work to and he dropped them standards yesterday and should also get a ban.

{Ed025's Note - I can see what you are saying ashy but I seen it as a reflex action to shrug his hand off mate. But it didn’t look good I must admit ..

15.) 10 Apr 2023
10 Apr 2023 08:07:12
I understand the mitrovic incident but I think it's been blown massively out of proportion. He barely touched him. The games a joke these days. Whilst I agree you can't touch an official I honestly think there was barely anything there.

{Ed025's Note - thats why i said it was something and nothing marty, nothing to see here lets move on..

16.) 10 Apr 2023
10 Apr 2023 08:10:03
Oh. I thought it was one of those uncontrollable, inadvertant "twitches" the linesman had. Pretty much like the one Bruno Fernandes had also. These poor guys. Having body parts that can't be controlled. Yup, ban for Robertson for sure.

It’s a simple fix. Only the captains talks to the ref unless the ref wants to talk to a player. Anything else is a booking. No player can touch a ref in any way. It’s really not to bring in but will stop so much abuse and wasted time running after the ref.

18.) 10 Apr 2023
10 Apr 2023 09:49:47
I agree 100% Long

Only the captains can speak to the ref - imo, anyone that surrounds the ref needs to be booked - few players miss games with more bookings received or a few extra red cards issued should lead to respect for officials and restraint

Maybe a red card for any player that touches an official?

It's the refs themselves that need to police this though, they need to stop allowing it - far too many scenes these days of players surrounding refs

Also though, a caveat to this, VAR needs overhauled - the decisions coming out of it a farcical, I mean the guy in the VAR room sees all the replays we see at home and still makes the wrong call? Or decides one week to intervene and then ignores the same thing the following week? And gives us a bull reason each week as to why it made the 'correct' and opposite call on 2 different, yet identical scenarios? - inmates have taken over the asylum type crazy

That is the caveat I would place on this, stop the idiotic decisions- these rile players up. Look we've all seen over the years something missed or a wrong call here and there, but has it honestly ever been as ridiculous as it has been since VAR?

It's interesting to see the different views on yesterday's game.
I watched a thrilling and enjoyable football match but was somewhat disappointed with the result.
Clearly others feel nothing but rage and anger.
There appears to be no enjoyment in the game itelf, in the thrills and spills that went on for 90 minutes.
The game as a spectacle to be enjoyed is being forgotten about in favour of using social media afterwards to vent their rage if the result doesn't agree with them.
It's not just the money that's killing football, fans who forget why the follow the sport in the first place are just as culpable.

Ed25, you're all over the place here, for real. With one side of your mouth when Bruno slapped and shoved the back of the lino at Anfield, you said "nothing to see here. Just get on with it". Now with the other side of your mouth, a lino has purposely elbowed a player right in the mouth cos he just went to talk to him and touched him with NO aggression at all and you now changed your tune and now say "it was cos the player touched him first" and "touching the ref is a no no". Sorry BUT u're going to need to make up your mind on this one cos you're talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Clearly you have standards for some incidents and standards for other incidents so all Im telling you is that the standard you set as "touching the ref is a no no" does not even apply to the Bruno incident where he not only touched the lino, he slapped and shoved him, something you waved away as a nothing burger. Just calling out your blatant blind spots.

{Ed025's Note - I don’t think you get me oli. I have said it was a nothing incident and I believe that’s true. But if the authorities want to make an issue of it then robbo could be in trouble. I don’t set the standards and I see this incident as the same as Bruno’s. Nothing to see here. I have been consistent on this so stop looking for loopholes in my answers you crank..

21.) 10 Apr 2023
10 Apr 2023 16:58:29
Nothing wrong with opening them up for criticism might encourage them to be better referees if they have to start taking accountability and explaining things.

22.) 10 Apr 2023
10 Apr 2023 17:02:47
If the refs and assistants learn what a foul is then they would not get a reaction from the players from any team like jesus went down like he had been hit by a train soon as the ref carries the game on and Arsenal have the ball he is up and sprinting after the ball .

As for the assistant ref the arrogance of the man robo tried to talk to him put his hand on assistant ref's arm and he retaliated by elbowing robbo in the throat you can not brush that under the carpet maybe robbo was wrong to touch him but that does not give the assistant ref the right to lift his elbow and swing it at robbo and as for edd 25 your opinion counts for nothing so stop trying to be judge and jury and by the way it was that assistant ref that did not give a blatant penalty on Mo near the end of the game when Gabriel wrestled mo to the ground isn't that a coincidence and also the assistant ref was the one who flagged at spurs when robbo was sent of but never lifted his flag when kane went over the top on one of our lads with a leg breaker of a tackle so their is history between robbo and him.

23.) 10 Apr 2023

Ed25, Albeydered is way harsher on you than me BUT that's another story. So rather than call me a crank, are you saying there is NOTHING to see here after a player gets physically assaulted by the lino cos he went over, touched his should to speak to him? Really? Sound. Just don't complain about how ref's are being disrespected and assaulted in grassroots football when you keep waving aside bad conduct from either side. That's all Im going to say.

Oh and btw, Clattenberg and Mark Halsey have come out in defence of Robbo and are askin g the lino to be banned for violent conduct BUT hey, I guess there's still nothing to see here, lol.

And one last thing and regardless of what Robbo did (which is nothing) or said, there is NO excuse for a match official to physically assault a player on the pitch. None whatsoever so I hope this arrogant lino who couldn't make it as a footballer and is now walking around like an arrogant peacock gets what's coming to him. Peace and Love.

{Ed025's Note - i think your making a mountain out of a molehill (again) oli, for me it was an instinctive shrug of the arm that caught the little nark and no harm was done, but you snowflakes want him hung drawn and quartered, thats the problem with society these days "where theres blame theres a claim" brigade, always looking for an angle, get a life FFS..
