Does anyone else think that Hendo could be a big miss this season considering how the season is going. I know we are top but I still personally believe someone with his leadership could take us the the step. Hopefully proven wrong but let's wait and see.

{Ed025's Note - yeah kss, its a pity he was a greedy mercenary with no scruples really mate..

I think we have enough leaders in the squad. Virg Ali Salah Trent Robbo. These lads have been around the club for a long time.

Yes we miss Hendo’s leadership like we miss Bobby creating all the space for Mo to score. Thinking about it We also miss Paul Koncheskys mum criticising the club and fans.

I don’t really understand why people are so bothered about Hendo going out there for a last pay day. Nothing new, nothing to see here for me.

{Ed025's Note - its the hypocrisy FF, if he had just admitted that it was greed and that he went for the money and didn,t give a toss about the gay community then no one could argue mate..

He got behind a cause because it suited him, not because it meant something to him.

{Ed025's Note - im with you Semi..

I’m sure he would have stayed at Liverpool had Klopp not made it clear his playing time would have been limited - that’s a very difficult position to be in when your club captain.

He may of just been put forward as part of his contract? Like the Nivea ads. It doesn’t bother me what you are, colour, ethnic background or sexual identity. We are expected to respect if people change there mind to become a different gender or change there mind to change there religion so why can’t we respect the fact hendo changed his mind.

{Ed025's Note - can you really change your mind about allowing somebody to express their sexuality John?, if you can it means you have been living a lie i would think mate..

Loved the guy myself, thought he was our best captain since Hansen. Hate to say it but got to agree with ed025. The hypocrisy of his decision just makes a mockery of all his previous work. I can’t see how you can support that cause and go to play in that country. It’s not like he needed the money.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Bobby, i thought he was an excellent captain myself mate, but feel he let himself down and ruined his legacy with Liverpool..

I don't think we miss Hendo's leadership on the field. I think VVD, Alison and Salah have stepped up and filled in the slack. We wouldn't have so many come from behind wins, otherwise. As far as the off field issues are concerned, I prefer not to judge. Money is the biggest motivator around and everyone knows it.

I do miss Bobby Firmino though.

Indeed Semibythesea3, did he get that MBE on the back of all that work?

I’m sure he would have stayed at Liverpool had Klopp not made it clear his playing time would have been limited

If he really thought he would play ahead of Szobozalai then he is the dumbest person in the world.

It’s like Stevie’s last year or so where everyone was freaking out about letting him go. The absolute correct decision would have been to let him go the season before we did.

I personally have no problem with any player playing in saudi but I think hendo made a rod for his own back, can't preach 1 thing and do the opposite. I'm also bit disappointed he didn't stay another year and accept a 'smaller'role in team. like op I think he could've been v useful for team and v important off field, he wealth of experience and if we still in league race come end of season he has been there and done it.

Agreed Digger and that is why I love Milner more than any other player. Hendo not only left for money he also took a cheap shot at the club and Klopp later in an interview.

lol earlier reply has heaps of the message missing lol

anyways, my point is that we don't miss Hendo and that even if we don't win anything, it won't be due to him being going. Imo a function of our current form is due to his absence because it's allowed others to step up. Nothing to do with him as a player or a person.

Also, whether Hendo moved to KSA or not has no impact on the ongoing fight and advocacy for the rainbow community.

Valid point Faith. If you look at it in a pragmatic and practical manner, maybe Hendo asked himself what the rainbow community was doing for him, to give up a brighter financial future for his family and himself? I firmly believe one person can make a difference, but then that one person has to choose his battles himself/ herself. Probably Hendo decided that he could "fight that battle" (support the rainbow community) only up to a certain degree? That's being a bit transactional, but who am I to judge someone's choices? I'm not the one who puts bread on his table.

He has ruined his legacy ed25, not in my book anyway.

{Ed025's Note - i suppose we all have our own views on it John, for me its about the person rather than the footballer mate, some think different and thats fine..

Is it really greed though Ed? I understand the LGBTQ community being upset with him as he offered his support as if they meant something to him but it turned out to be just what we all knew it was in the first place. A PR exercise.

I do have to pull you up on questioning his greed and morality though. If someone offered most of us that level of money to work in Saudi Arabia doing an easier job we’d take it in a heartbeat. It’s not greed or immoral it’s just common sense.

When you have a family and it’s your responsibility to provide for them you want to give them the best you possibly can and he’s done that.

I find it hard to question his morals when I would do exactly the same thing in his position, as most sane people would.

{Ed025's Note - im not buying that excuse BP, before he left he was worth £23m mate...how much do you need?, thats enough to secure the future for generations of his family mate, and he still had quite a few years to go in football on obscene wages, it seems you would have done the same and thats very sad to me, especially when you see people living on the streets and others choosing whether to eat or heat, it is pure greed in my book and you and him are typical of this modern day society who,s only motivation is avarice, they say it takes all sorts but i would like to think i would never succumb to such treachery of my socialist values..

You would also be called a Hypocrite if you had previously supported a different cause!
Simple.
