Didnt see any sign of Skrtel from the TV pics today at the game. Was he on the bench or has he possibly travelled to Italy to meet with Napoli already? {Ed002's Note - He is effectively gone.}

As with the previous 3 games this season the midfield dropped too deep and reverted to protection mode in the 2nd half of the game yesterday. This can be attributed to Swansea pushing further up the pitch and our general lethargy in midfield. Unfortunately Gerrard's legs were gone for the last 30-35mins of the game which seems to trigger this retreat. That being said I think we can be quite effective hitting teams on the break away from home when we push to support at the right times although that happened less and less often as the game wore on. We probably would have lost that game last season so onwards and upwards and hopefully we can start our winning streak again at the weekend!

Just read the Guardian article and it is clear that ROdgers is a very frustrated manager at the minute. He obviously realises we are on the verge of becoming a very good side with the addition of 1 or 2 top quality 1st teamers and the purchase of Willian would, no doubt, have been a major step in this direction. There is no doubt that some of the quotes are a message to the owners. Most probably grievances he has aired to them in private, though releasing them in an article is a way to get the fans onside. Well played Mr Rodgers, much more subtle than Rafa and hopefully this exerts the required pressure on the hierarchy!

Can someone please explain to me any logic in playing Henderson left wing? Henderson picks ball up left wing, turns back and plays ball to Enrique who takes 8 touches and passes back to a CB. Sound like a familar pattern?

Every pre-season we kid ourselves we have a team capable of competing and every season we are left dissapointed. Its time to stop kidding ourselves people, this team playing this type of football will once again struggle to beat teams at home. We may monopolise possesion but it is all too easy to defend against and we simply do not get enough numbers in the box or put the correct ball in when it matters. If anyone is honest playing this way we will do well to get 5th.
