Hey Eds, Hearing Pepijn Lijnders is being promoted to first team coach? Seems odd have you heard anything? Thanks for your time
{Ed001's Note - why would that be odd? He certainly seems the favourite to be promoted after having impressed considerably during his time with us, and before that with Porto.}

Ed do you have any knowledge of his methods and why he is so well respected.
{Ed001's Note - there is a link up on the rumours page regarding him, which gives a quick overview. Basically he is a career coach who is a good coach rather than just a former player with no idea about coaching. He emphasises attacking football with a high press, his idea being you get the ball back as high up the pitch as possible because that is when it presents a real danger to your opponent. His methods are to work on that, allied to a high technical level of touch, control, passing and quick movement into space to receive the ball. You do not get a job with Porto's youth system unless you are seen as top level, they have possibly the best youth system in European football, mostly because they get lots of the best coaches they can find. Oh and he actually talks well, says the right things. I can see him graduating to head coach somewhere in the next 5 years or so.}

Sounds like the high press to me tho I may be wrong. Seems like a good choice and hopefully, BR will have little to no influence on the tactics and system because even after three years and over 200m spent, he still doesn't know his best eleven nor his best system because he seems to make it up as he goes on.
