Hi all

Obviously disappointing as it looks like we are set to miss out on Salah. You can never not have enough good players but we are not exactly short up top so I’d hope we can at least now try and reinforce the midfield. I count we have four to fill three places and barring Jordan, the rest spend a lot of time out injured between them so we are desperately short!

I’m not sure how the whole Ayre, transfer committee, owners thing works exactly but I can’t say I blame them and the owners for being prudent. (Although annoying as a fan when they drag out offers for weeks at a time. Yes I know we are not moneybags but pay the fee or walk away and stop wasting everyone’s time!) Wasted a lot of money with Kenny and although the fees have been less with Rodgers, he hasn’t exactly been successful in the market himself. Except for Sturridge and Coutinho, I cannot think of anyone who gets near the team regularly whom he has signed!?

Race for 4th is tight and home form will be crucial but if, and it’s a big IF, we can get a good midfielder or two then we have every chance.

So Coutinho out for around six weeks, massive blow! He is the only real link we have from midfield to attack - who would you have come in to replace him?

Obviously Suarez is back game after next but I think this could be the time to also give Luis Alberto a chance in the first team too. Has that Spanish ability of finding space between the lines of opposition defence and midfield, looks for killer passes and is capable of scoring a few. Paid a fair bit of money for him so why not. I seen brief highlights from last nights U21 game and he can't have done much more to convince the gaffer to give him a go.

Thoughts please fellow reds.

Morning All,

Very pleased with our business this window. The defence looks as good as anyone’s in the league now and in Sakho, I think we finally have the aggressive, commanding CB we have so badly needed. I believe he can also play a bit too. Plus he has pace so now we can hopefully push up a little higher and really implement our pressing game.

Slight concern, and do mean only slight they we may just not quite have enough goals but Suarez to come back and hopefully Moses can break into double figures too. Provided we are right in the mix come January then this could always be addressed then with some proven quality and the lure of potential CL football.

I think BR is really getting his stamp on the team now and I for one I am very excited to watch us grow further as the season progresses. And if anyone did doubt Brendon’s balls, check out the brown, corduroy number he was wearing last night at Shankley 100th celebration! Have to be confident to wear that believe me!

Lastly, thanks to the Eds for all their hard work over the summer as well as all the contributions from my fellow reds. Let’s make this a season to remember.

Morning All

Little disappointed to miss out another target but I guess if LFC and FSG do not think he is quite worth the money then that is up to them. Personally, I am not quite sure how much difference a an extra few million in performance fees makes when your thrashing out a circa £30m deal but then again it isn’t my money so it easy for me to sit here and spend someone else’s money.

I guess the annoying thing from my point of view is that the three major targets we have gone for, the club and have come out and repeatedly said how confident they are acquiring them when in reality we where nowhere near them. Especially with Willian who we didn’t even agree a fee for. Once, fair enough. Twice, doesn’t look good but three times looks a little embarrassing, and makes the people in charge of such matters look amateurish.

I know CL football is a factor, but Spurs have had no trouble at all in cementing their players (very high level players too) and nobody is going to tell me they are bigger then Liverpool so what has been the issue?

Time is running out this window (especially the way we have negotiated thus far) but I was encouraged on Saturday and with Suarez hopefully returning I am optimistic we can do much better than last season. I do not think it will be enough for the top 4 as Spurs look really strong now but time will tell.

Cheers

My Spanish is dreadful at best but Suarez has given an interview to Marca claiming he is not the desperate to leave Liverpool.

The guy confuses me no end!

Just passing it on guys
