Hi Eds, can you explain why we are unable to secure any of our targets, when other clubs such as Chelsea and Spurs seem to sign them in a matter of days.

{Ed001's Note - there are so many different reasons, as each transfer is different. Money is a big factor. Also lack of Champions League football. The player has to be open to a move to us, just as much as the club have to be willing to do business. Most of the players we want, well they want to wait and see if a club that is getting regular Champions League comes in for them. We just need to be a bit more selective with the players we go for. We are simply targeting, in my opinion, the wrong players, ones who won't see us as a big move, being as how they have options that offer them a better deal. I apologise for repeating myself, but in the summer we passed over the chance to get Gary Medel, instead we chased people who were never going to join us. Medel may not be the huge name the fans are looking for, but he is a quality player who would have improved the team, he would also have been extremely pleased to get an opportunity to sign for us. Those are the kind of players we need, the ones that are available, keen on a move and an improvement on what we have while still being within our price range. I think our transfer committee are just getting a little ahead of themselves, overambitious, as we are a big club, but forgetting that we are no longer the big draw.}
