I want to talk about Alberto Moreno:

For me, he was our man of the match against City on Monday. Thought other than his mistake, he was the most energetic and committed player on the field. I was dead impressed with the physical side of his game on Monday, but today showed that the tactical side of his game is also there in abundance. Commentators were quick to say on Monday that Moreno needs to "adapt to the pace of the Premier League". Well, if that today wasn't 'adapting to the pace' then I don't know what is! In the last 10 years, Liverpool's two good left backs have been Aurelio and Riise. Moreno looks like he has the composure and assurance on the ball of Aurelio, and the attacking confidence and (dare I say it) shooting ability of Riise. What sets him apart? Well he's flipping quick and be can defend competently. I'm going to get carried away now and say the lad is perfect. Oh and he's a looker too! I'm in love with Albi Moreno!

How anyone can be downbeat about the new season is beyond me.

Here are 10 reasons why you should all be excited about the new season.

1. We are back in the Champions League and our seeding means we will be thrown back in the deep end, and to be honest I wouldn't want it any other way. I can't wait to see Suarez's face when his old strike partner sticks 3 past Ter Stegen down the Kop end.

2. We have strengthened. We really have. Forget Suarez exists for a moment and you will realise our squad is ridiculously strong. Add Lallana and Markovic (and maybe Moreno) to the the side that beat Dortmund today and you have 45 (or even 65) million pounds worth of talent to add to a side that looked nothing short of excellent. The players we have brought in clearly conform to Rodgers' philosophy and that could not have been said necessarily the past 3 or 4 windows.

3. Brendan Rodgers is the best man manager in the league and will get the best out of his players. I have no doubt that the likes of Sturridge and Sterling will step up to the plate post-Suarez. Everyone looks like they love playing for B-Rod.

4. We have Raheem Sterling. Raheem Sterling is in the top 5 attacking players in the league. Raheem Sterling is 19.

5. We look just about the quickest side in world football. Markovic, Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho, Can, Henderson, Manquillo (and Moreno?) are all lightening fast. For me, teams can adjust to players like Suarez and can sniff him out of games. Stick two or three men on Suarez when he has the ball and no matter how exceptional he is, he will struggle. When you have 4 or 5 lightening quick players in the final third, it becomes almost impossible to defend and that is what we will exploit.

6. Jordan Henderson.

7. Emre Can looks like a brick wall that can also run really really fast. He also appears to enjoy running into people.

8. Did I mention Jordan Henderson plays for us?

9. We can live safe in the knowledge that if we need a goal to keep our title hopes alive and we get a corner in the last minute of the game, Iago Aspas will be sitting on a beach in Seville.

10. Last season we were boss. Chances are we'll be boss again.

Now time for some optimism. Am I the only one here that's properly excited about next season? Yes we've sold Suarez, but we seem to be forgetting how good LFC were last season! Let me jog your memories. We were sensational! And that 10/11 match winning run we went on saw Suarez only contribute a handful of goals and in all honesty some frustrating performances. We are now about pace, quick decision making and ruthlessness, and for me these are things each of our attacking players excels at. Sterling and Markovic either side of Sturridge is frightening, and Lallana was exceptional last season in the final third. The fact that there are still more signings to come is so exciting, and to compare us to Spurs (post-Bale) is to insult LFC as a team last season, where we proved to be so much more than a one-dimensional, reliant-on-Suarez side. Now you're going to believe us.

Spanish media outlet 'AS' reporting that we've contacted Real Madrid over Isco as well as AC Milan and Sevilla. Surely if James is a target Madrid might well be looking to offload him?

FORWARD LINE:
RWs: Sterling, Ibe
By next February, Real Madrid will be sniffing around Sterling who by this time will be commanding a £60million price tag. For me, he is the key to our season and has the potential to be one of the best players in the league next season. A world beater. Ibe also will see some game time against cup opposition.

CFs: Sturridge, Remy, Lambert
Sturridge is world class. Simple as that. He will step up to the plate and Remy and Lambert are terrific options for when things need to be shaken up. The Remy signing will give us the opportunity to revert to two up top if we need to- Sturridge can work with either of those up front. Exciting.

LWs: Markovic, Peterson
Markovic will hopefully set the league alight and for me he has all the attributes needed to succeed. Unlikely to see Peterson feature as both Coutinho and Lallana can play out wide. Options-a-plenty.
