Ed's do you think we will up our offer (if we even made one) or move on to the next target re the Willian soap opera {Ed001's Note - we know the price, so there is nothing stopping us meeting it, but it does seem doubtful.}

Personally I'd be satisfied with Moses ok not the first or indeed second choice but the wise choice. Having missed out on our two preferred choices for the left side albeit both realistically long shots considering our previous seasons standing but we did have a go. Surely to spend 20m plus on a 3rd/4th choice would be foolish, the sensible option is to hold the cash and loan a young eager to play and impress player with prem experiance (like Sturridge) just allowing Coutinio to slot into the middle his best position is going to improve the team ( sorry bredan "group"). There will be the doomsday people out there who will shoot me down. But let's be realistic a title or even top 4 finish is very unlikely this year. Realistically getting into a Europa slot is more realistic, if we achieve that this season playing some good attractive football then we will be glad for that cash to push on from there. I think we are getting ahead of ourselves somewhat, we need to be prepared for progress but steady progress, we just have to face facts the while the history of our fine club will attract a better class of player then our league standing suggests, the "top" players are simply not going to come while we are not in Europe, and seriously pushing for top 4. That's where we are we should be focusing on improving on last year which "is" very achievable we do have a top four defence so who ever is on the left we will be hard to beat. But anyone thinking we should spend our way to top four is playing a dangerous game

I can help to think BR is overlooking me at the moment!, i'm a left winger, ok i'm 38 and have lost a yard of pace or two, but I can deliver a mean cross and can usually control the ball in 3 to 4 touches, I wouldn't insist on a buy out clause and would fit the new wage structure, couldn't find anything on me in the search engine. I think the ed's have missed a trick here!

Dont get me wrong a few million is a lot of money in my pitiful existence, but for a player we have obviously courted for a few weeks, in a two horse race for his signature, surely we would match the offer if the player prefers a move to us and we see him as a good fit, you would think in a world cup year it will be us who can guarantee more pitch time, and I don't buy the europa league being a draw surely a team chasing top four wouldn't even play their record signing in it. Confused red!

Thoughts please, have we shot ourselves in the foot somewhat by making quite public our want to add a "marquee" ( I hate that phrase) signing on the left up top. Coutinio couldn't get a kick at Inter, now not many European clubs would leave him out the team, we need to realise where we are at present, as soon as the word Marquee is used there's a frenzie of fans name dropping players who realistically are never going to sign for us at present even less likely in a World Cup year where players want a European stage which we can't offer. can't we just say we need a left sided forward and look for the coutinios's of this world rather then unnecessarily give some fans the chance to slag off the owners etc for failure to bring in a player who in reality is always likely to head somewhere else in the end.

The way I see it, and my opinion only. Is that there's a lot of Fsg slagging off going on here, I don't see them as the problem, they have put the club on a stable financial path and have invested in the squad, ok that money was not always spent that wisely not there fault. The issue is back just before the dreaded Hicks Gillett era, at the time we were in the old " big four" the current owners then recognised that they could not provide the financial muscle to push for the title and increase capacity, at that point spurs were where we are now, stable well run but not going to break into the top 4. Now that disastrous sale and following seasons we stood still as a club it allowed spurs to catch up with us, and now overtake us, we may of still been on level terms had BR came in prior to KD and the Carroll and co buys, but unfortunately that's where we are now, we need to play the long game, spurs are spending big on the profit from the potential Bale sale, that's we're we have to be looking finding the gems that will give us a good few seasons then leave for huge amounts (Coutinio), I don't feel FSG are anyway to blame for the current state of play, we are where we are at least we are improving as a squad and a business.
