Eds, I understand a while ago the club were keeping tabs on the progress of Ben Garratt (Keeper) at Crewe. Based on the progress of Ward has that interest gone away for now?

P. S. I did do a search but nothing has come up lately.

Phil from Crewe

{Ed002's Note - Crewe hung on to Garrett after interest was shown by Aston Villa in the summer, whilst the interest of Spurs and Liverpool was seemingly dropped. Interestingly Everton have continued a watching brief but don't seem keen on making a move anytime soon.}

Thanks for the reply - I hope he stays for now - Crewe need him.

Eds, do you know if we have Ben Garratt at Crewe on our scouting list - a great young keeper playing really well behind a really poor defence. He has been their star this year pulling off some world class saves and to tell the truth keeping the score down. I think he is a future England goal keeper - but hey what do I know!

Phil from Crewe

{Ed001's Note - he was a few years back, when he was just about 15 or 16, he was given the option to switch to our academy. I would hope that we have kept tabs on him, he has always been a potential top class keeper.}

Just to say Merry Xmas to all the ED's, posters and readers - stay safe and.

If you have not seen the new Kolo interview - it is a must - what a signing and on a free as well - I think he may be at the club long after his playing days are over

If we do get in the top 4 - what a transfer window we could have next summer - I think it is obvious as good as the squad has been performing this year it is quite thin and to even enter in to the CL we will have to buy - the amount of names we will be linked with will be great fun for us to read and it is going to drive the Ed's mad

Sorry another Spurs post

Is Mr Levy playing very risky game of poker with the sale of Bale? - as it looks like he is in the process of spending the Bale money already

Most transfer window activity (in my opinion - maybe wrong) is normally triggered by a big outlay for a player - this then release cash in to the market which enables a rush of transfer dealings. This is not the case with the really cash rich clubs like Man City and Chelsea within the Prem League they will spend anyway

If there was a plan with Madrid to hold the Bale deal until the last min of the window - this may stop the injection of cash in to the market

There is always the small risk that the deal will not go through therefore Real in particular will be reluctant to release players i.e.Benzema Di Maria or even Ozil therefore putting a hold on the market overall - the market needs the cash

This in effect may stop clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United strengthening which would be to Tottenham's advantage

Yes I know - too much time on my hands on a Thursday afternoon

Well count down has truly begun

49 years old and pacing around as excited as much as a 5 year old on Christmas Eve - the wife is fed up with me already as she is asking questions about other stuff and I am not hiding the fact I am not interested in anything else - gutted that I can't make the match.

My view on the window so far - not that it counts for much anyway

Pretty good so far - only one that really surprised me going out was Pepe - didn't see that coming and I think a real shame about Jonjo maybe he tried to hard and it just didn't work out.

On the incomings only time will tell and when they have that famous red shirt on - they will get my support and will never walk alone

So by 3 pm I will be elated or gutted and my weekend ruined!

So here's to the first match

My two penneth worth on Luis

My understanding is that he has 3 years left on his contract - hopefully there is not a clause that we have to sell if an offer of a certain value is made, if not we don't have to sell

Next season is a World Cup season so everyone will want to play to try and make their individual national teams (Uruguay are currently 6th with the top four automatic qualifiers and 5th place in a play off) so there is a chance Uruguay will qualify)

We need to play hardball with him and any potential teams who want him - only sell if the offer we get really benefits us - if not don't sell him and if he plays up leave him in the reserves.

Football is a business and he is an asset - worth I think in excess of £45min todays market - why would you sell an asset for less than its market value - you wouldn't sell a £5,000 car for £3,000.

I would see him rot in the reserves for a period than sell him at cut price - I am sure once the window has closed (by then his ban will be near the end) he would behave and play his heart out to get in to his national Team - if he does the same in Jan - repeat the process.

This will give us a year to find a replacement - I am really hoping our owners are the good business men that they proclaim to be

For me the best prospect in the lower league is Garratt - playing in a poor team - think the stats say he has made the most saves across all leagues - as I said the team is poor defensively (Crewe)

Phil from Crewe

{Ed001's Note - he is excellent, I actually forgot about him. I have been talking about him since he was in their U18s as well. He would defo be up there. Him I would consider for us, if Ward and the other youngsters are not considered good enough.}
