I thought we came into this transfer window needing a lb, cb and dfm. So far we have spent close to 70m (including Markovic) and haven't filled these positions, we have also lost our best player and in doing so strengthened one our rivals with Sanchez. Now we also need a top class striker to help replace Suarezs goals. I'm not blaming anyone for the Suarez/Sanchez deals and think we did very well to get 75m considering the circumstances, but I'm just a little worried that although we have signed players to improve the squad, the top class defensive signings we need are not looking promising

People are saying we have some tough away games coming up - but we have already played everyone above us in the league away from home? ;)

I have been impressed with how quickly and organised Rogers and the club have been in getting out transfer targets in. However, at the end of last season, I thought our priorities were for a bit more older experience in the team and defensive targets.
We played some great attacking football last season, scoring 24 more goals and conceding 3 more than we did in the previous season. We also have a lot of promising youth.
Our supposed transfer targets;
Player Cost Age
Toure free (32)
Aspas 7m (25)
Mkhitaryan 20m (24)
Alberto 6m (20)
Atsu 3m (21)
Mignolet 10m (24)
The deals for Atsu and Alberto are the deals i'm not so sure of. I know rogers has changed our system around a fair bit over the course of the season, but say we play our 4-3-3 with a fluid and interchangeable front 3.
In our current team for this front 3 we have; Sturridge, Suarez, Borini, Downing, Coutinho, Assaidi, Suso and Sterling. Plus youth such as Ibe and Yesil.
Add to that Aspas, Atsu and Alberto if we sign them.
Seems to me that signing Atsu (21) and Alberto (20) may be a kick in the teeth to likes of Suso (19), Ibe (17), Yesil (18) and maybe even Sterling (18) with only a couple years age difference.

Hi Ed,
Hope all is well. I was just wondering what the situation is with clubs currently signing players from abroad? I thought the international transfer window didn't open until 1st July but lots of clubs seem to be agreeing fees for players, I guess they can agree a fee but its not official until July? I don't seem to remember this happening in previous years?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - It has always happened but the registration cannot be transferred.}
