its hard to be optimistic about attaining a higher league position this coming season, when we play 3/4 of the pitch like world beaters and then have nothing in that final 1/4, whether it be poor finishing or poor options, either passing or trying to shoot from ridiculous positions, the difference between those teams who get the 1-0 win or the late equalising goal is composure and good decision making, something I fear we lacked today, irregardless of this being pre-season, today was our final hit out before the season proper. If today is anything to be judged on we have some issues that need resolving in the final 1/4 of the pitch.
all the players seemed lost when it came to that decisive moment, it especially irks me that we have as many opportunities to cross balls in from the flanks that either don't make it past the first defender or go nowhere near one of our players, Stirling and Ibe seem to be the only players that can genuinely beat a player and find space behind the fullbacks, Henderson Aspas Coutinho are players that should only be used through middle, Downing-well I don't see him getting past anyone to be able to get a cross in, then there's Enrique and Johnson great ball carriers but again have no final ball, its all well and good being able to pass the ball and keep possession, but if you can't get it into areas that give opportunities to score we may aswell be passing it around our own penalty box.
I just hope the Sturridge and Coutinho show will deliver enough goals when we need them as that is our greatest threat to any opposition this year as it stands.
at the other end, if we aren't using Skrtel then I think Agger and Toure for stronger teams, and partner Agger with Kelly for the lesser likes, give Wisdom his chance in the Capitol one cup because on todays performance he still needs some time to get up to the level required - if he is capable of attaining that level of course
then have the midfield three as Lucas Gerrard and Coutinho, with Coutinho in front of the other two.

4411, Gomez and Moreno on the left, Clyne and Milner on the right, Can and Hendo in the middle, Couts/firmino behind Big Ben. If Hendo out for a while push Milner in with Can and put Ibe or markovic in front of Clyne, this formation would improve the fluidity of the team and probably make us more compact when defending and more dynamic going forward
