Eds quick question for you, sorry if it’s been asked before. A few years ago we seemed to have settled on a policy of looking for the best 14 or 15 year olds English players at smaller clubs and amongst others that led us to sign Sterling, Ibe, Wisdom, Sinclair and Ojo within the space of three years. To me that is a pretty damn good return compared to the days of signing Brouwer, simon and vita flora
It feels like we are going away from that now, is that the case and if so is it down to Mcparland leaving?
{Ed001's Note - it is more down to the prices being asked for them. Now we are being quoted millions for those players, rather than hundreds of thousands. Though I am sure a part of it is down to him leaving. He won't have left his contacts behind for us to use.}
1.) We have recently signed herbie Kane and yan dahanda who are both highly thought of at to that all the Spanish kids we've been buying like there's a shortage of them and the cast offs of Utd (Nicholas & hart) spring to mind ejaria from arsenal and a few others I've missed no doubt somewhere amongst this we must have a few of our own from age 9ish
2.) Yan Dhanda was signed when Mcparland was still at the club in 2013. I'm sure I read Herbie Kane joined us around the same time in 2013 a few months before Mcparland was asked to leave. I don't think either are recent signed only recently promoted to the u18's.
Bobbythered could be right I haven't seen our youth recruitment go down that road as frequently. I thought Dele Alli might have been the next one last summer before he went to Spurs.
3.) Well if a year and 3 or 4 months isn't reacently signed when talking about kiddies I don't know what is. Maybe ask again in 3 or 4 years time to see if the policy has changed or if we just can't buy everybody
