Have never before posted on to the site - quite enjoy reading, although the genuine rumours are very few and far between. This may not be a bad thing, as I would prefer that transfer dealings were kept under wraps until the last minute.

I have supported Liverpool all my life and have been visiting Anfield for the last 35 years. I have seen some great times, some mediocre times and some truly horrendous times. It is hard to know where our current predicament ranks as it is not as bad as the Hodgson debacle at all.

I think the real problem is that we achieved well above our station the season before last and expectations were unnaturally inflated, this was due to some pieces of the puzzle "just clicking" with very few injuries and 2 amazing strikers that bled confidence & arrogance throughout the team (arrogance, in a good way that great sports teams have).

We still struggled in defence, but that didn't matter as we would out score whoever was in front of us - until we didn't!

Then this last season cam - our strike force was no more, and our defence was much the same, although this time the spotlight was truly on them due to not having the Suarez/Sturridge get out of jail free card.

Brendan Rodgers on the face of it looks out of his depth, but in fairness to him he is a young manager who also needs to be managed by superiors and given the guidance whether he wants it or not. With regards to letting Pascoe go and not renewing Marsh's contract, I really am of 2 minds. Can the blame really be laid at their feet? Were they not working within the constraints of the players provided to them by the committee? If they were to blame, were they not coaching in the style/technique that Rodgers wanted them to? By not relieving Rodgers also, could be seriously damaging to whomever comes in as replacements, and who will pick the replacements????

Lastly, with all of this going on, why would you currently join Liverpool FC. If we all remove our rose tinted glasses and look at it from a business point of view - as I am sure many footballers do - they will see a club who has lost key players dating back to Torres, Alonso, Mascherano right up to last year with Suarez as they had to leave to "win trophies", and you cannot argue with that when you see what they have won since leaving. You also see a club with regular managing and coaching changes, including the current scenario when it looks as though the current manager has been told to sit in the naughty corner whilst being told he cannot play with his best friends (Pascoe et al). Even though off the pitch Sterling may behave like a gob sh, he is also deemed within the game as one of the best talents to come out of England for some time - and he does not want to be any where near the club. Also did I forget that due to our dithering and treatment of our club captain who was very badly managed, he also wants away from "the club he loves". He doesn't want to be involved, why on earth would others??

So my question is - where to from here as I cannot see the best way forward at present? Does anyone have any info on coaches?

Sorry for the long post - but it feels good to get it all out!

The owners still have some faith in BR, or else he would´ve been sacked. I would believe that the owners are a bit pissed that the amount of money that have been used haven´t made an impact. Pascoe and Marsh weren´t the guilty ones, but still they were sacked.

I would believe that BR have to perform this season or else he´ll be gone - Might be gone in winter, it depends a lot on how we perform. The fixture list isn´t helping him.

It is rumoured that Pepijn Lijnders (current youth coach) will be promoted to first team coach. Not sure about the asst manager, but the following have been rumoured: Zenden, Pako, Hyppia and Carragher. I would believe that Zenden is the most likely of those.

Welcome Matt. I would never give the benefit of any doubt to Rodgers, he has failed to do his job pertinently and that is the reason we are where we are, speaking parochially. Beyond Rodgers, I am less trusting of the way things are managed. I would think it important to put a structure at the management level that suits the club, and then employ the right people. Taking of Rodgers' assistants is something I have never heard of and I can't agree to.

Thanks RedFuzz, good info. I do not know much about Pepijn Lijnders, so any info would be great.

On a slightly different note did anyone notice Thiago Ilori last night for Portugal U21's? There is something about him, and his movement that really reminds me of Alan Hansen. Before I get crucified for that, I am not saying he is or ever will be as good, just thing the lad shows something, and has the athleticism and "nouse" to be a great defender.

Can we start a bring back Hyppia petition?

For what purpose

I agree that Ilori should be given a chance, he seems like a good player.

That link is a pleasure to read - providing he is as good as he sounds, this would seem like an excellent move.

Now we just need an assistant to Rodgers.I'm stumped on that one!

I`m not too thrilled with having ex-players around as it has not helped us that much (second coming of KK and Souness comes to mind. There are other assistants out there that are more suitable than him so not too hung up on the ex players thing. I also disagree with the owners having confidence in him. Why? simple. How do you say you have confidence in a manager yet you weaken/isolate him by firing his assistants? That`s setting up to fail and a cop out for not firing him completely. He has shown he is a failure yet you endorse him and at the same time, isolate him. That is mind-blowing. If you have confidence, keep the whole staff and if you don`t, fire them ALL and give someone else the tools he needs. Wreaks of incompetence because like AG, I`ve never heard of it in all my 30 plus years of following footie. He`s nothing but a lame duck atm and when he fails because he`s being set up to do so, it will be the owners` fault and theirs alone.
