I'm hearing Sheyi Ojo has signed, on loan, for Derby? I can't find any confirmation though. Has any Ed heard anything?

{Ed002's Note - Certainly they are one of the interested sides, I am not aware of him actually signing - but it doesn't mean he hasn't.}

Hey, sorry to have a moan but I really don't like the fact that people feel it's acceptable to put Hodgson down based on his speech impediment. I've seen numerous posts, from eds too, condemning the use of 'Woy' in reference to him but it's turned up in today's poll question. Shall we start hunting down those with mental illnesses and we'll start calling them 'the mentals?' I thought the eds on this site were above all this name calling. Obviously I was wrong.

1.) If I was Woy Hodgson I'd be fair more offended by people like you comparing my speech impediment to a mental illness than I would be by some harmless internet banter.

I have a speech impediment myself. Can't say the letters F or S for my life. I just end up spitting at you or hissing like a snake! Everyone takes the mick but I just embrace it.

It is nowhere even close to taking the mickey out of someones mental illness and you are being way too sensitive mate. It is no worse than calling Rooney Shrek. I veryy much think that the 'banter' page is perhaps not for you mate.

Just stop being so soft mate. No body is viciously discriminating against him for it, just maknig a few jokes.

2.) Agree with you bud he's a prat but taking the Mickey out of his so called speech impediment is out of order.

3.) 17 Oct 2014 13:19:40
Totally agree, I had a speech impediment as a kid and after a lot of work with a speech therapist, I'm 90% over it, so agree to the OP and yes, I thought the Eds were above this too! Sorry Eds, but I usually worship every word you say, but not on this one! I'm not a Roy fan though and he makes so many mistakes, it's worrying the FA stick with him!

4.) Fair point to make Angrychef, it's not on when you start accepting the mocking individuals for any differences or impediments they may have.

Adam, you're missing the point mate. Just because you're strong enough to deal with it doesn't mean everyone else is.

As for just making a few jokes, fair enough, it may seem harmless, but there are many sociologists that would disagree, George Allports' scale of prejudice for example shows that it is often the thin end of the wedge.

I don't mean to come across as self-righteous, but I have to agree with the OP, in that there should be some editorial responsibility taken when overseeing a forum that is open for millions to view.

5.) I didn't compare any impediment to mental health issues. I was trying to put things into context. Obviously, I failed. There are a lot of people in the public eye with speech impediments yet it seems it's only mentioned, in a derogatory fashion, when we talk about RH. Almost every time he's mentioned somebody pipes up with 'Woy' this and that. I'm pretty sure RH doesn't think it's banter. Otherwise we wouldn't have had the big hoohar with the s**. If banter is about alienating people and making them feel crap then please forgive me. One man's banter is another's insult. Maybe we should concentrate on the poor football England play or his stone age tactics failing to get the best out of our youngsters. Although this has always been an England problem.

6.) People who think name calling is a joke are usually the ones who don't suffer the indignity of having a any imperfections, well as long as it's not aimed at them! shame on you, it's a form of bullying and not funny, i think it's time grow up no matter who you are don't you?

7.) I agree Jack. Not every person is the same. Therefore you can't teat everyone the same way. Ems might find it a bit of a laugh but others wont. that's life.

8.) 17 Oct 2014 18:02:09
There a lot of things I find funny about ems, his posts are normally 1.

9.) 17 Oct 2014 18:09:23
Well said Angrychef.

Regardless of age, stature etc it's still a form of bullying.

Personally, I've never found it funny.

10.) Well each to there own. Nicknames are a part of society in my opinion though and they usually play on something about you. My best mates were called Fatbob (Robert, overweight) and Wiggles (because he ran like he had spaghetti arms). I think people are just too sensitive nowadays and need a dose of 'man up' but I am willing to accept that others disagree and if it makes you all feel better I won't use the name 'Woy' on here again.

People take things to heart too much nowadays though.

11.) The funniest thing about it all, in my opinion, is that Roy Hodgson apparently said Wayne Rooney's scouse accent was possibly a reason he wouldn't come across too well in interviews.

Glass house, stones, you do the rest!

12.) Guys, this really isn't for a footy banter page.
The "one persons banter is another persons insult" is very true.
Who determines the difference between the 2?
Lets leave the PC to the day jobs and enjoy the banter page.

13.) Mocking his speech is a bit ignorant when you consider the man is fluent in 7 languages. How many of those mocking can match that?

14.) 18 Oct 2014 07:13:55
is pointing out that he looks like an owl acceptable?

{Ed001's Note - obviously not, this is the pc-era and nothing is acceptable.}

15.) Everybody

Just say sowwy and move on !

16.) 18 Oct 2014 09:16:50
but the owl is the most wise of all the winged creatures

17.) That is so twue, twit twue

18.) Nothing is acceptable to these lot Ed001. Oh, except calling Fergie purple nose, Gary Neville ratface, Suarez a donkey, Rooney shrek, Bale a monkey, Jan Molby fat, Rafa a fat Spanish waiter.

Just ignore it Ed. It is literally every social networking site you get a group of hipocrites who jump on the PC bandwagon every so often and try and make themselves look like model human beings so for a split second they can feel better than us normal folk. I'm sure none of these posters are hipocritical enough to have ever used the phrase purple nose though. Loved your comment Digger Barnes lol.

I loved Couts during his time at Liverpool. However, I wouldn't be happy if we were to take him back. I just think for the price we could do better in terms of signing a player that would fit Klopps system. For me, id go all out to sign Son from Spurs. I don't think they'd sell unfortunately. And Levy isn't exactly a dream to deal with either.

I'm not convinced on Wilson. He looks good in parts for Derby but there are times he just doesn't show up. In my opinion, he's not good enough for Liverpool at present. Whether a bit of Klopps positivity and inspiration might push him along a bit remains to be seen. I've been to 10/ 12 Derby games this season in which he's featured. He's played better than ok in maybe 3 or 4 of them. Other than that sweet left peg, I just don't see why all the hype at the moment.

I, personally, look forward to the Macca posts. He's always comes across as a genuine and honest guy. In my opinion, he would never intentionally lie or mislead us fellow reds.

I just hope he doesn't listen to the negativity on here and he continues to keep us ahead of the game.

Maybe we should start a 'Macca Appreciation Page'.

I can't believe these Will Hughes rumours. I'm from Derby, I've seen his play loads of times and he is massively over-rated. He would never break into Liverpool's first team. He had a couple of good games and the media jumped on the bandwagon. I don't think he's good enough for a mid table premiership team. . Like Man Utd:)

If it's at home, with the way things currently are, I'd go with Firmino. Away from home, I'd love to see Henderson clinch it with a screamer.

Also, as the Ed stated, Derby have Mel Morris now. He made shedloads on Candy Crush. He is a Derby fan and wants the best for the club. Expect massive investments in the infrastruture. If anyone can afford to hang onto Hughes, Mel Morris can.

Will Hughes had a nasty injury. I believe it was a rupture of his ACL.

He made his comeback towards the end of last season. He did well settling back in - the games I watched anyway. Derby have high hopes for him but may struggle to hold onto him for much longer. The 'word on the street' is, Derby will look to sell Jeff Hendrik if it means keeping Hughes for another season. Derby will look for promotion this season and may hang onto him if they do.

I maintain he isn't good enough for Liverpool - unless we are happy settling with becoming a high-mid table team - which I guess we are at the moment to be fair.

Will Hughes has just come back from an ACL rupture. He played a little in the Shaun Barker testimonial the other night as part of his comeback. We won't see him in a competetive match this season. Shame as Derby may have had a better season with him.

Ive mentioned before, I don't think he's good enough for Liverpool. I still stand by that but these kinda players develop at different rates. I think for the money, we could get better elsewhere and with more potential. I'd love to be wrong, being from Derby, I love to see our local lads do well.

I believe he's injured for a month or so. But I do agree, he deserves a chance.
