Ed002. Just wanted your opinion please mate on the Striker situation. Ed001 has said that he understand Studge may well stay beyond this season is he wishes to. In this instance would you still expect another Striker to arrive? We would have 4 including Ings already?

Firminio2017

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been looking at forwards and it would be with a view to replacing Sturridge. If he stays I would doubt that they would simply add another unless it was a youngster such as Brereton who is of interest.}

1.) 02 May 2017 19:36:46
I hope you're off the mark there Ed. It's blindingly obvious we are lacking depth up front and should one or two of the front three get injured we only have one out and out striker in Origi and he just isn't good enough yet to take us to the next level. I'd keep Sturridge and add one more. Studge had a great cameo yesterday and showed more threat in his 10 mins than Origi did all game. Unfortunately we won't get more than half a season from him at best so another striker is an absolute necessity.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are like all sides constrained by squad size and you cannot keep adding players. With Mane fit Firmino has played as a central forward. If Brandt were to arrive to replace Coutinho he can also play there. Ings will be available, a replacement for Sturridge and Origi - plus the youngsters and Liverpool have plenty of options.}

2.) 02 May 2017 20:12:01
Let's hope then that Woodburn steps up next season and does what Rashford has for Man Utd.

3.) 02 May 2017 20:45:18
Brandt will not replace couts I'm sure of that, wise up.

4.) 02 May 2017 20:01:59
Brandt to replace coutinho ed 😂😂😂😂. Please don't say that.

5.) 03 May 2017 02:45:33
I'm pretty sure if we're going for a player like Brandt he is as a replacement for coutinho. I don't want to believe it but I think that's why we're interested in someone for the LW. Coutinho won't be dropped deeper in the midfield role, so it only spells one thing. If he goes I can see us bringing in two maybe even three forwards but if he stays I think we will only get a forward that can play centrally or outwide to replace Sturridge and potentially ings who I hope goes out on loan next season.

{Ed001's Note - Klopp would like to have the option to rest, rotate and play Couts in midfield.}

6.) 03 May 2017 14:59:58
does Klopp think Coutinho's best position is where he currently plays, or back in midfield?

02 May 2017 11:05:56
Eds with our interest in Sessengon and Peirea as explained, who out of our full backs is most at risk of loosing there slot next season? I think Milner has done ok to a point. Clyne has a lot of the ball but doesn't do much with it. Just wanted your thoughts on what you think Klopp is looking to do?

Firminio2017

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect to see Sessegnon playing for the first team next season. Ricardo Pereira is a versatile full back who can play on either side and is having a good season on loan at Nice - but I am not so sure you will see him at Liverpool next season. It is clear that Liverpool's interest is in replacing Moreno at left back, and there has been interest shown in a number of players.}

1.) 02 May 2017 11:33:19
Cheers for reply mate. Makes sense as we also have TAA to compete with Clyne for the RB slot. Milner perhaps becomes a squad player I guess?

{Ed002's Note - That seems reasonable.}

2.) 02 May 2017 11:51:50
Is it looking likely that we'll be able too lure Sessegnon to the club?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

3.) 02 May 2017 12:56:29
Scouserseb, its been explained that there remains at least 2 people at Fulham that are not keen on doing business with Lfc. On top of that he may well be better suited staying at Fulham especially if they get promoted to the prem.

4.) 02 May 2017 13:42:17
Thanks Firmino, I've read that he's a Liverpool fan though?

5.) 02 May 2017 13:49:27
Last time I went for at stroll on the search engine, to find some news on Sessegnon, I found that the possibility of us getting the lad, was looking more and more unlikely, as Fulham is of no interest of doing buisness with us nomore. But now you state that we might be in for him anyway, or am I reading to much into this? Would love to see him join us.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are very, very keen on him as I have explained - the Sharkopod tells that story. Against a move this summer is the fact he is a kiddie who is limited in the amount of time he is allowed to train each week and who must attend school. Also making it difficult are a couple of people at Fulham who would rather not do business with Liverpool due to a previous problem. There is also a lot of interest from elsewhere - where one club are proposing two players, some cash and a two year loan back for him.}

6.) 02 May 2017 17:42:00
Hey eds previous problem was with C. Dempsey I suppose?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, the tapping up.}

7.) 02 May 2017 18:38:02
Tappa Tappa Tappa!

8.) 02 May 2017 20:11:34
Surely if the lad wants to leave, a couple of people with grudges won't stand in the way? Seems a tad selfish to hold back a young player's wishes, maybe even his future, over some issues you've had in the past.

{Ed002's Note - The most disruptive thing for his career would be a move to Liverpool this summer. Staying at Fulham would by far the best. Calling them grudges is ridiculous given Liverpool's dreadful behavior.}

9.) 03 May 2017 09:35:45
would the fact that Ian Ayre is gone and our new sporting director's role in negotiations perhaps alleviate the attitude some Fulham reps hold towards Liverpool?

10.) 03 May 2017 18:41:54
I don't agree, Ed. I'm no expert on youth development, so I won't say what's wrong or right for him. That's down to him and his advisors.

My point is that if a young player wants to leave to further his career, it's wrong that a few people should stand in his way because they are unhappy about something that happened years ago that has nothing to do with the young player currently in question.

It's not constructive but more importantly, it's unfair on the lad if he wants to leave.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why you are objecting or disagreeing with what I said. The player doesn't want to leave. The player needs to finish his education and cannot train full time. The player wants to be at Fulham. The people at Fulham have seen Liverpool abuse the rules and then have sat back whilst two directors of Liverpool dragged a trail of slime behind them when they apologised for tapping a player up. Liverpool have recently been banned for further indescretions, and Liverpool are now being sued for completely derailing the career of a youngster.

And you think this is all OK? And by the way, last season Liverpool faced more charges and were punished more often thena any other team in Europe. They also recieved two further letters of warning regarding tapping up from clubs in Germany, and and had an ex-captain admit tapping up players on behalf of the club.}

Afternoon Eds

Do we still have real interest in Celtics Dembele, or is it doubtfull because of his demands? Not heard anything since the Sharkopod mate that's all.

Firminio2017

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

1.) 28 Apr 2017 19:16:58
I really don't think he would suit.

2.) 28 Apr 2017 20:00:48
He would suit imo. Absolute beast of a Striker.

21 Apr 2017 05:38:45
Good morning all

Eds i've been reading through the posts regarding Sturridge possible suitors and is likely to push for him. My question is his replacement. you mentioned Berbeton, Azmoun and Dembele in the Sharkopod but recently said Azmoun is not keen on a move to Liverpool. Are there any others in the Striker mould we are looking at and has there been any advances on Dembele?

Firminio2017

{Ed002's Note - Moussa Marega was another Liverpool have watched regularly but he is another who won't be making the move as he has extended his loan period. Azmoun was concerned that he would not get game time. Iñaki Williams has also been of interest but it would be a significant risk to pay the very high asking price for such an inexperienced player. Andre Silva and Malcom have been looked at but are similar to Mane. Dembele is attracting a great deal of interest fromelsewhere and has already rejected one transfer as he wants guaranteed game time. Right now there is nothing more.

1.) 21 Apr 2017 09:21:30
Ok mate thank you for update I appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 21 Apr 2017 09:47:29
Cheers ed02, you da best.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

3.) 22 Apr 2017 02:35:20
Who is the Berbeton you mention? Can find much on him.

{Ed002's Note - Ben Brereton is a youngster - try Google.}

18 Apr 2017 17:17:50
Hi ed002, hope your well?

How often do you do the Sharkopods please? Do you expect our targets to change much from the last pod?

Thanks in advance.

Firminio2017

{Ed002's Note - They will always change to some extent - I have others to do before returning to Liverpool so it will be a little while.}

1.) 18 Apr 2017 19:49:37
Where can I find the Sharkopods?

{Ed001's Note - here: podcasts

2.) 18 Apr 2017 20:12:14
Many thanks Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome Goda.}

3.) 18 Apr 2017 21:19:38
The Sharkopods are great. Info aside, which is brilliant, love the little musical interludes. The Rolf Harris advert had me in hysterics.

4.) 18 Apr 2017 21:19:46
Ok mate that's fair enough. Look forward to it.

5.) 18 Apr 2017 22:56:53
Hey ed, is there a chance for one of your quick updates for the names in the Sharkopod with the likely/ unlikely scale? I recall that I have seen you using it on other pages and it is always an entertaining read.

{Ed002's Note - I provided an update on some yesterday.}

08 May 2017 17:20:24
Eds in your opinion do you beleive we will sign a CB this summer? A lot has been said about us having 4 already and 1 needs to leave for 1 to arrive but I just can't see that happening. I think he is happy with what he has?

Firminio2017

{Ed001's Note - no I do not expect a centre back signing.}

1.) 08 May 2017 18:37:21
If we are to be serious about being in the mix next season we must improve the cover we have at CB
Klavan is not good enough to come in when lovren ir Matip are injured
I would get rid and get a better option for the bench.

2.) 08 May 2017 19:27:37
Im with you Supermane, personally I would never have offered Lovren the ridiculous contract we have and if he wasn't happy with less then would move him on in an instant, 5th highest paid CB in the PL is embarrassing.

Klavan isn't good enough either, yes we have Gomez but Klavan should never have been bought. If we are serious about being title contenders like the owners supposedly believe we should be then we need to start addressing our problems.

3.) 08 May 2017 19:59:42
Tell you Joe Gomez is two good to play at u23s.

4.) 08 May 2017 21:00:56
How can u say this Ed?
I though VVD was nailed on.

{Ed002's Note - They are both nailed on.}

5.) 09 May 2017 00:13:48
Gomez will be playing first team football next season, nailed on .

6.) 09 May 2017 01:03:26
How bad is our defence.

If our strikers performed consitently then it wouldn't seem like sich an issuem

Or course we are going to concede but if were already 2-0 then its not bad.

7.) 09 May 2017 06:58:26
Didn't we see with Rogers that KevinKeeganFootball doesn't work if you want to reach the top, if your defence is really weak. I'd like to see a really strong CB and a 20 goal striker who can take those from limited chances. If that can be found within those already at the club then even better. Of the 2 right now I'd say the goal scorer seems even less likely to come from within.

8.) 09 May 2017 09:27:34
I would like to think Gomez will step up for the new season and don't forget we have ings coming back, He could well be exactly what we need! Sadly we haven't seen much of him in a red shirt due to injuries.

08 May 2017 12:55:05
Eds do you think we will salvage 4th place mate? can't see Arsenal dropping points now. Will it have a major impact on our transfers?

Firminio2017

{Ed001's Note - no idea, I don't like making predictions as I am superstitious. Yes it will affect transfers.}

1.) 08 May 2017 13:59:17
Edd 1 as I am sure you are aware I predicted a 7 th or lower place for us. Can I ask where you thought we would finnish I tried search engine but to no avail.

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember to be honest, I think it was top 6 though. I really do not like giving predictions.}

2.) 08 May 2017 14:22:56
Keep the faith.
When have Arsenal last had a 4 game winning streak?

3.) 08 May 2017 14:59:16
Ed001, would you predict that you won't make a prediction for next season either?

;)

{Ed001's Note - I don't make predictions so I can't even predict that! I might make one just to shut you up and prove to everyone that knows me that I am not really superstitious.}

4.) 08 May 2017 16:22:35
Cheers edd not too far from my prediction. Let's hope we get top four.

5.) 08 May 2017 17:54:07
In what world is 'top 6' not too far from '7th or lower'? They're polar opposite! You make me laugh Walter :D.

6.) 08 May 2017 20:24:27
Stoneage my friend sixth to seventh is one place so even if we were slightly lower it would still be close.

7.) 08 May 2017 21:21:06
Walter, Ed001 said TOP 6 - you could argue that's an average position of 3rd/ 4th?

You said 7th or lower. Given we are unlikely to finish lower than 11th in any season, that's an average of around 9th.

Around 5-6 places different.

And Ed001's average is actually where we are likely to end up!

8.) 08 May 2017 23:03:50
Arsenal will drop points, but so will we, West Ham will be another tough game, if, if we can win that game, and I think that we just might, then the Boro game will be a great game to finish our season .

07 May 2017 07:43:32
Ed, I can see were Emre is coming from wanting game time before he signs new contract, especially if we are looking at Kieta as will be stacked with CM's. Kieta will want game time. Must be hard keeping everyone happy? Hendo will expect to play also being the Captain.

Firminio2017

{Ed001's Note - it is always difficult with a big squad, but we do have a lot more games coming up next season.}

03 May 2017 19:25:04
Eds is there a possibility of player + money for Coutinho? Have they mentioned anyone or is there any player we would consider?

Firminio2017

{Ed002's Note - You are clutching at straws about a player the club don't want to sell.}

1.) 03 May 2017 22:20:04
Ok mate. I no I am. No problem.

2.) 04 May 2017 02:13:08
Please no to any of Barca's rejects. Just keep Couts no matter what.

02 May 2017 17:52:38
Someone mentioned to me we might have to play a CL play off game v City for the final place. Can anyone explain this to me please? Sounds nuts tbh.

Firminio2017

{Ed001's Note - it is a possibility if we have the same goal difference and goals scored at the end of the season, as well as the same number of points.}

1.) 02 May 2017 18:04:14
Would take that right now!

2.) 02 May 2017 18:05:09
If we finish 3rd and 4th with the above criteria? So one of us would miss out on CL? So only 3 places unless Utd win Europa making the 4th place?

{Ed001's Note - no it would not work like that. Top four get Champions League places, if United win Europa, and finish 5th, then there would be five teams in the Champions League.}

3.) 02 May 2017 18:13:32
Right I see. So the only thing with the one off game with City would be who go's into qualifying for CL and other go's straight in.

4.) 02 May 2017 18:11:40
Surely it goes down to Head to head at some point?

{Ed001's Note - not according to the statement put out, hence this story going round.}

5.) 02 May 2017 18:50:26
I don't see that happening, IMO.

6.) 02 May 2017 19:31:38
What an odd scenario. The FA decide that they won't take the head result and will instead pit the teams head to head.

{Ed002's Note - Other leagues default to head to head and then the team rankings rather than a play off.}

7.) 02 May 2017 20:41:24
See, this is why head to head should matter!

8.) 02 May 2017 20:42:03
Let me guess it will be played at wembly!

9.) 02 May 2017 21:10:04
We'd be in the champions league.
If we have to play a qualifying round we should be good enough to get through it.

10.) 02 May 2017 18:37:06
Is that the same detail if we finished 3rd and 4th with the above scenario? So we would have to play off to see who goes straight into the groups and who has to play a qualifier? an extra game on top of the extra game lol.

{Ed002's Note - Other countries take the head to head and then the rankings. Some may still use a play off.}

11.) 02 May 2017 22:51:26
I definitely wouldn't take that now, not now we've got it in our own hands Fencey, understand your sentiment, CL is CL.

12.) 02 May 2017 23:32:44
Qualification rounds are tricky and you don't know who your opposition is. Napoli got eliminated a couple of years ago by Atletic Bilbao.

13.) 03 May 2017 07:25:09
If you are good enough you will qualify, if you don't then you weren't good enough - like Napoli.
