what is the plan for Gomez - doesn't look like he's even getting a sniff at game time?

as much as i love Matip's mazy runs - i still feel like he a weak link in our backline and we should be focusing on Konate and Gomez and 2nd and 3rd Choice CB's.

Didn't Gomez come on as a sub today?
Klopp often brings him on for the last few minutes to shore things up. Matip had an off day, he's been far better than that as of late.

They all get a break now anyway. It'll be interesting to see what pairing Klopp goes with when we kick off again.
Van Dijk plus 1 other, but who? We're lucky that we're quite spoiled for quality centre halves at the moment.

In gomez and Konate we have 2 decent and young CBs. Matip is probably the better player right now but age is not on his side and he is not so much better than those others to make his age redundant as it is with VVD. I would be moving Matip on and using Konate and Gomez more often, then using one of the youngsters as back up. No chance I would sell Gomez. Homegrown international standard CB. Not many of them around. Let him and Gomez battle it out to be VVD’s partner and perhaps when he’s gone they can first choice pairing. Sell Phillips though just as I think he’s too good to be 4th choice/ back up and deserves a career elsewhere.
