Let's be honest the last few results have just papered over the cracks of which have been there for years. This season we have yet to break into the top 4 when most fans were saying we would put in a title challenge, in the CL group stage we have 2 wins against Maribor out of 5 games. The only plus of that is we haven't lost. When we look at the top 6 contenders for me we are probably on a par with Arsenal as the 5th best tean and we all think they are a shambles yet throw the compliments at some of our players after a few decent games because they didn't make their usual mistakes which cost us a game. We have Chelsea on sat and that again could go both ways. If we win then fans will be jumping on the bandwagon and singing from the rooftops that we are still 5th or 4th. However we could just as likely get thumped. With any of Mig, Lovren, Klavan, Matip and Moreno in defence with our non creative midfield Im sure the Chelsea boys of hazard, Pedro, Willian, Fabregas, Kante and Morata will be licking their lips. Quite a few of our players have been getting praised of late for decent games but in the years they have been here they have probably had just as many poor games as they have had decent in their LFC careers. To challenge andecent performance should be the bare minimum expected. Defensively we have not improved in years and by the looks it will likely stay the same for the foreseeable future. In the 36 years of supporting LFC our expectations used to be so high but now it appears we are happy with challenging 4th place, showing up against the top 5 teams now and again and blowing certain teams away with goals every now and again.

Our record in the PL this season is great, only conceding 1 goal (i think) . Our issues are away from home. I expect us to beat Chelsea.

I must be imagining that being 4th last season, higher up the table than usual this year and oh yeah actually being in the champions league isn't an improvement on years passed. today was disappointing, but I really think people are over-reacting on the bigger picture. it really comes down to perception and how you look at building hope, you said it yourself. we could win or lose this weekend, some players have played well and then they've played poorly. isn't that life? through the ups and downs we've steadily improved our position in the league year on year. just got to keep building what we have.

Faith I appreciate the reply but surely you have a little too much faith you say we are improving our league position every year which isn't true. Yes we improved last year to fourth but look back before that we have been up and down and haven't broken 5th this season. You could count the players who have played well consistently on 1 hand over the last few seasons. The majority have peaked at decent or are error stricken or clearly not good enough. Stats can be manipulated but the main stat that can't is a league table and trophy cabinet. We have not won a league in 27 years, but worse than that we have probably put a realistic title challenge in 3 times in that era. In the last 7 seasons we have 1 trophy with Utd on something like 17 yet we aren't slow off the mark to criticise them. Our weakness's now are still the same when Rodgers was in charge. Yes unde Klopp we are more entertaining some of the time but what trophy do we win for that.

Irish if our record in the premier league this season is great then how do you asses Utd's, Chelsea, Spurs and city who are all above us. And If you meant our home record then surely that is papering over the cracks. For as long as I can remember you have as many home as away games.

Jayden23 you are bang on far too many fans have just given up trying to actually win things. There are so many things wrong that I would need all day to write it down. Mentally weak, spineless is never a winning formular. Klopp he should take a lot of the blame. He can't close a game out with his tactics and the players are too stupid to think for themselves. Henderson is the worst LFC captain I can ever remember. We need some winners in the squad asap.

I’m not a Henderson fan but there are different types of Captain and that lads attitude is 110% comited to the cause I don’t think it’s a new captain we need but someone who can arrange the back four, a terrier like carragher who drags people in line, who scales them when they mess up. The kinda fella who gives you a hard time but ou listen because he might eat you at half time. The issue is finding that someone, don’t seem to find t much anymore, no terry/ carragher s about.
