Set up a new username and thought I'd weigh in on the Thiago situation.

He has been one of my favourite midfielders for a long time so I should be excited but I am still a little apprehensive purely just on where he fits in the squad and starting 11 and I don't like the idea of him becoming our highest paid (reportedly) without earning it.

Some thoughts though. Could Thiago and Fabino both operate side by side in DM roles in a 4-2-3-1 formation perhaps?

Does his signing mean 2 great players in each midfield position? Fab and Thiago DM. Hendo and Gini CM. Kieta and Ox AM. With Milner and Jones as outsiders?

Perhaps Ox and Jones cover one of the front 3 spots?

Also considering the class of Thiago, a quality deep lying playmaker who has experience winning titles and playing in big games.

We certainly need to sell 3-4 players and almost definitely need a new CB if one of the current youngsters aren't trusted but if we do pick up Thiago I personally will be chuffed to have a player who will help keep us at the level of champions for a couple of seasons.

{Ed0666's Note - great post mtgw....you raise some interesting points...I’m aghast that Thiago is one of you’re favourite players but Salah isn’t.

Thiago has better hair than Salah. That is why.

{Ed0666's Note - I give you that. Salah needs to change his agent and his hairdresser

Great post mtgw, would be a great signing for a around 3 seasons and has the experience and winning mentality. Haha Ed666 you are not letting that point go 😂.

I've seen people suggest we could sign Thaigo instead of a CB, then utilise Fabinho as a 4th choice CB if needs be.

Also gives Hoever and Van Den Berg a further year to develop.

Not sure how I feel about it myself 🤔.

Yes ed looks like Salahs daughter put a loaf baking tray on his head and he said too her just shave round that please .

{Ed0666's Note - I love Salah’s daughter Makka I think that’s her name. I remember the last game of the 2018 season she was kicking the ball into the goal at the Kop end. 52,000 people were cheering Makka and booing Mo when he took the ball of her. It truly was a beautiful snapshot in time. So much confidence for such a little girl she was milking the adulation. Mo’s daughter scored more goals in the Kop end than Andy Carroll scored in his whole Liverpool career.

As a massive digression I’ve just watched the Nic Anelka documentary on Netflix. To say it’s brilliant is an understatement. One of the best sporting documentaries I’ve ever seen. Kudos to the production team and Nic himself.

Brilliant documentary Ed666, watched it earlier this week. Nic has lived a few lifetimes and just glad it got to show both sides to the many stories.

{Ed0666's Note - he didn’t even say what L’Equpe accused him of in South African World Cup. That is scandalous.. And for Domenech to only admit that 8 years after the incident is also.

Ed0666 regarding Anelka's time at RM, I remember that whole time as I was studying and living in France at the time and his whole situation was all over the media in real time.

What he suffered at RM was scandalous. I mean, it was a mafia down there at the time and in the part of the doc. where he says that he kept being told to forfeit his seat for each RM team mate that came into the DR after he was the first to arrive, I could believe that happened.

There were games I watched where Raul (Anelka hates his guts) would have the ball and Anelka was open and he would not pass him the ball. Raul (love him as a player) was terrible and treated Nic like crap. What saved him ( and RM's season) was when Del Bosque arrived mid season and that changed things for Nic esp. in the CL where Anelka was crucial to RM winning it that season.

{Ed0666's Note - honestly mate it’s one of my biggest regrets in football when Liverpool I mean houllier didn’t sign Nico. I truly believe over a season he would have been the difference between winning and losing the league. Thanks for you’re anecdotes about living in Spain must have been a wonderful time for you on a personal level having that life experience.
