Hello ed1 hope u well. Good 3pts yesterday, poor enough game but v important to win. As regards elliott, I think there a v good footballer there but I just don't know where he fits in to team as a starter. he excellent off bench but I presume coming up he would want to be trying to nail down a position. i think u where ast this question couple of years ago and u thought maybe he replace Bobby, in false 9 role but now it obvious that gakpo is going to play that role. also nunez and jota are there as traditional no.9s so he won't get in there. Don't know if he strong enough to play in midfield 3 or quite has the pace for wide in front 3. I really like elliott and was super when he came on yesterday, I wouldn't mind see him get run in cups in salah spot but klopp always likes pace in wide positions and he not blessed with pace.

It’s a nice problem to have. He can be very effective off the bench in the PL and then start plenty cup games. No need to look too far head.

It's what I termed "the Suso conundrum".
Similar situations.
I'd say Elliott, in time, could maybe operate as a playmaker in a double pivot perhaps?
A Thiago-like role.

He's definitely advanced a couple of levels this year, he's back to that forward-first outlook that he showed when he first broke through in the first team.
These 20-30 minutes cameos he's getting off the bench are idea at the moment though, he can bring an intensity to it that is difficult to reproduce when he starts and the opponents are fresh.
Great to see him hit a real stinger yesterday also, he's often guilty of trying to side-foot shots in.

Juicer, maybe it is due to recency bias but I think Elliott is better than Suso was at the same age. For me, Elliott is a rue baller with technical ability that is way above average. His touch is excuisite and he has a very good shot on him. Hilm coming off the bench is a huge asset to have while the coaches decide if he is a potential starter or not.

Now as for the game itself, it's a derby and esp. after an international break, not sure why people are surprised about the performances cos well, we've seen these before. We played well enuff to win and that's all that matters in a derby. All the other stuff, we can revisit later, IMO.

His first touch is really a joy to watch. I don't recall him miscontrolling a ball.
