With Liverpool reps in Madrid recently I'm realy hoping they are trying an under the radar move for Saul Niue, has some realy nice defensive stats to his game.
28 years old also so a good age, right in his prime.

it’s going to have to be a very Big signing to replace Fabinho (the only true DM at the club)
Henderson can be replaced quite comfortably with him being touted stepping into the “Milner role” I’m sure that can be filled by Jones or someone.

But they’ll have to shop massive for Fabinhos replacement should he leave. Lavia etc won’t be enough.

Llorente is a good shout to bring in experience, posters above noted he can play 3 different positions very well including RB, I do worry that he is not a specialist DM but if his signing came with the signing of Lavia also then I think our midfield would be complete.

Is nobody else concerned about a 28 year old player coming into a league for the first time. A league that also happens to be the fastest pace league in Europe? I’ll support every player that comes in but I’m a little worried myself.

He can play as a DM but is better utilised as an attacking midfield. High work rate and not afraid to shoot from outside the box. Simeone often uses him as a second striker or in a two behind a lone striker. I would say, if we get him, it will be to predominantly play on the right of the midfield three. Kind of like a Jordan Henderson role perhaps?!?

Agree NMB, Llorente is more a Henderson replacement than a Fabinho one, in an ideal world should we bring in a more experienced midfielder I think it should in the DM role as it is so key to how we play, that would in essence rule out Lavia signing. Would Barcelona sell FDJ and if so could we afford him?

I know Caicedo apparently wants a move to London, but if both Fabinho and Henderson go, and a possibility Thiago might be off, I think it'll be a tough few months initially for a new midfield (if they all play at the same time) to bed in, knowing enough about their runs and positioning, that Caicedo would be my main target as he already knows the prem and knows all about Mac Allister. Would less of an upheaval for me, even though you are signing 3 new midfielders, 2 would come as a pair ?.

It really doesn’t matter what a player has done or where he’s played for other clubs. What matters is what he does for us.

Wijnaldum was a winger/ AM, VVD was a lazy CB, Robbo was a championship quality LB who had just been relegated, Salah was an average winger who’d failed at Chelsea, Mane was talented but trouble. All turned out to be world class at one point or another in a red shirt.

Let’s just let the club do the recruitment and wait until the players have actually played for us before passing judgement on them.

Salah was not a failed winger.
In the half season before he joined Chelsea he scored 10 goals.
He was at Chelsea for a year Jan-Jan.
The half season after he left Chelsea he score 9 goals.
He then went on to score 15 goals in a season and next season he scored 19 goals before he moved to us and really took off.
Chelsea were the issue in Salahs career. Same as KDB.

The clubs recruitment team have failed to bring in adequate midfielders for several windows and now they’re being forced into bringing in multiple midfielders in just one window.

Ginger, love your defence of Salah there, but I feel Beckers Pecker was merely quoting the rhetoric surrounding some of the clubs best signings in recent years and implying it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I didn’t say Salah was a failed winger I said he was an average winger who had failed at Chelsea. I think I’m right in saying Ginger that not many were overly excited when we signed Salah and certainly not many saw the player he would become. I don’t think his stint at Chelsea could be described as anything other than a failure either and other clubs fans mocked him for it when we signed him.

That wasn’t really the point anyway. The point was that whatever players have done before or whatever people think of them the only thing that really matters is what they do in a red shirt.

We won’t know that until they have actually played for us so let’s give every player a chance and not be so quick to pass judgement.
