Reds & Ed1. I believe as many do the areas we need to strengthen is a defensive midfielder with bite, shame we didn't go for Gary Medel. A striker who just puts the ball in the net, tap ins etc as goals is what we need, although I don't know who is out there and is attainable so would like your views fellow reds and Ed1.

I love Lucas and before those two knee injuries it seemed he had taken his game to a new level. I think he is not the same player but with those injuries you adapt your game and the things he does goes unnoticed. I see why some say he gives away needless free kicks and maybe slow in possession but he was covering for a defensive that has Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson when he was in the team bombing forward with no care in the world for his defensive responsibilities.

If we can manage Sturridge right and he has a decent run of games then he will bang in 20+ this season. I believe our best defender is Sakho and to be honest having watched every game last season passes the ball better than most and would love to see his pass completions as he rarely miss hits a pass. This would mean finding someone to partner him, who would be the fans choice? again would like to get other fans and Ed1's opinions.

{Ed001's Note - Medel would be perfect, I still think we should try and sign him. He offers more than defensive cover, he is a decent playmaker too with a good range of passing. While Higuain would be difficult to get, he wants Champions League football, if there were no offers from teams in it, then he should be the target as a striker. As for defenders, I would like to see Ilori given a chance.}

Medel would have been a better midfielder to go for than kovacic with the midfielders that we already have in our hands.

Sakho passes the ball better than most??

Sakho is good at everything but that and heading

His passing completion stats are better than most though half of them might be hospital balls!

I'd be very keen to see Llori given a chance. Does anyone know how he got on on loan? Not if he was ok, but what the fans and media thought of him?

For goodness sake. How could his passing completion stats stats be better than others if half his passes were hospital passes? Or do you think he got lucky and the hospital passes were completed? Or do you think others gave even more hospital passes?

Sahko is the best ball playing CB we have not by stats BUT by using your eyes, Cialbray. His heading strangely enuff, does need some work. Agree with Ed on Medel who would be perfect for the way BR wants to play and Ilori should be given chances as well and Skrtel sold, as I`ve posted before

What is misleading about Sakho is that he looks ungainly. However, he tends to do pretty much verything extremely well, except maybe communicate (at this stage).

Lies, damn lies and statistics.

Sakho controls the ball like a drunken elephant on roller skates. Don't want him in midfield thanks.

Sakho is the best with the ball among our CBs. I admit to believing that. but after a closer look in, he is actually really good with the ball.

Couldn't agree more Ed001, but let's be realistic here: we won't sign Medel (when has LFC ever gone for a player you want?!), Higuain won't be coming either (I doubt any other striker will come in), and Ilori has never been given a chance in 2 years so I don't see anything changing there and he'll probably be sold on the cheap.

He may look awkward but if you had watched every game last season closely you would see he is our best ball playing CB by a mile and it was his passing that impressed me the most. He needs to work on his heading as one other poster mentioned among a few other areas but next to the right defender and behind Lucas/another defensive midfielder he would be more comfortable. Would love Medel but it looks like we are not making any attempts to sign the player.

Ed001, would Medel still be available? He player over 30 games for Inter so not sure they would let him go, would they, at least not for anything less than an exorbitant sum?

{Ed001's Note - they are not looking to sell.}

Ron, keep up. We`re talking CB`s and not midfielders.
