I'm seeing "depay is an awful player"

Actually he's not. He has all the ability to be a great player but has a poor ATTITUDE. Van gal didn't help him but he didn't have the right attitude either to put his head down.

It's ironic that concerning mane, attitude means nothing that Klopps going to sort it out and we will see manes ability in all its glory. If a player has all the ability in the world and has the wrong attitude they look like average players on the pitch.

He isn't awful but he is pretty average. I said the exact same thing last summer when both Liverpool and United fans were fornicating and fighting over him.

Re-watch all his goals in Dutch football. At least 75% of them were poor finishes that the keeper should've been stopping. His touch is slightly above average and he is very quick. Aside from that he is just another run of the mill wide man. His ceiling is probably the same as the likes of Routhledge, Lennon or Pennant. People just got excited because he had a foreign name.

He was a waste of money last summer, and he will be the same this summer.

Mk scouser I think you're way off and obviously never seen him play before united . He was outstanding before his move to united. He moved too soon in his career, didn't have three right work ethic at united, players or manager.

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, he was quick but far from outstanding. He was inconsistent and sometimes good, sometimes average, but quite often poor. He has talent, that was always clear, but he has yet to learn how to utilise it.}

Big Al it is definitely you who hasn't seen him if you think he was outstanding! Either that or we have a massive difference in what we perceive to be outstanding. I think that Ed001 has this spot on. Depay has the odd good game in amongst lots of average games. Hence my comparisons to other average wingers. He is nothing special. We should steer well clear.

Mk scouser stay well clear? When did I say that the club want him or I want him. I'm giving an opinion. When I watched him live I thought he had some excellent games at psv. He was always going to be inconsistent, he was a teenagEr a young boy. He's still only 22 now. Like sterling he made the wrong move at the wrong time and now his career may stagnate too.
Edd001 I think he's the ability to be top class. He has to put his head down and work a lot harder. Mourinho may be a great manager for him if he does thaT.

Awful attitude and poor player imo. If he has talent, he needs to start showing it. Fancy flicks and step overs will not be enough to keep the kid in Jose's good books.

May I ask big Al if there is no link in your post to him potentially becoming a target and or signing then why have you mentioned him on a Liverpool Rumours/ banter page?

Except Sterling doesn't just rely on pace and is younger and already playing successfully at a much higher level than Dutch football.

Sterling has a better end product, about the same quality shot, much better control, much better dribbling ability, and much better defensive qualities. Depay is probably marginally faster. That is all he has on Sterling. People keep saying Sterling had a bad year but he still more than tripled the out put of Depay and he had to compete with Nasri, Navas, Silva and De Bruyne. Not Ashley Young and the United youth academy. Very lazy comparison that, Al. You're a very good poster mate and I think you have a good understanding of the game generally. This post just smacks of trying to be controversial and look like a hipster. 'I'm Big Al, and I'm not on the bandwagon. ' I don't actually think you've seen anything of Depay's time in Dutch football aside from YouTube clips based on your assessment of him as "outstanding".

I will stick my neck out now and say that Sterling goes on to have a far more successful career.

Depay has already fallen behind Martial, Lingard, Rashford etc in the pecking order.

There are so many young forwards who English clubs bring to the league just because they have pace. It's shocking. Depay and Markovic are both good examples. Spanish or German teams wouldn't have even considered them at the asking prices United and Liverpool paid because they are countries with coaches that value actual technical ability and tactical awareness over speed or strength.

Big Al, we get it, " you didn't want mane ", he's here now so stop whining and just wait and see how he plays and how this alleged poor attitude manifests itself.

You've used depay to bang on about the mane signing, leave it out will ye!

75% of his shots should of been saved lol.
Ahh this guy does make me giggle. I'd worry if he actually had any knowledge.

A good hint for you mate would be reading my first comment and relation to depay and his attitude were i compare his with manes (ironically an lfc player)

Waro it's called irony And bias mate. Saying depays a terrible player because of his attitude when manes attitudes been swept under the carpet by many.
There's not one post were I've questioned manes ability. I won't have the goggles on either and pretend all is well with all our signings.
If the page becomes full of ems's in that every player signed is a "great player " other football fans will have a right laugh.
You Page is for banter and abit of debatE. It can't be full of ass wiping. A role you do well however waro.

Mk scouser
I've watched him live at psv. It's okay buddy I'll let take onthe duty for assessing players by youtube clips.
I'm finished on discussing depay.
My original point was a players attitude is vital on how good a player is and becomes.
Have an enjoyable evening ladies x.

Back on planet earth, LFC are still not buying any players from Man Utd.

Chris, go back and look at the goals he scored in the Dutch league. Weak shots squirming under the keeper, keepers getting caught out of position, keepers demonstrating little to no reactions etc.

Only a quarter of the goals he scored in that league would've beaten a keeper of premier league quality in my opinion. It was not like Ibra, Suarez and co. They scored loads of goals in Dutch football, but their goals were by and large good finishes as opposed to poor goal keeping. Hence why they scored far more than Depay in that league at a similar age.

I know you are a united fan and want to defend your man, but blind belief that Depay is anything other than average is just silly. Especially when you have a few top young wide players at your club to relieve some of the pain of Depay being a monumental mistake.

Let it go mate. Just as Liverpool fans need to accept Markovic is average and Ibe has dropped off significantly since coming into Premier League football, you guys need to accept that Depay and Januzaj are both average as well. At least you have Martial, Lingard and Rashford to ease the pain. We have to shift Milner, Benteke and Lallana yet in order to make way for the likes of Origi, Mane and Ojo.

The one thing that struck me about Depay was his fitness. He seems slow and overweight. Just seems too bulky and restrictive in his movement. Could stand to get lean and mean as a wide player. Bad attitude is usually enough of a reason to stay away but if he struggles with his fitness at a club like MUFC (should be motivation enough), I wouldn't take a risk on him.
