Hello fellow Reds,

For the first time I’m taking my 2 boys to Anfield next week for the West Ham game, my wife and daughter going shopping, spending the weekend in Liverpool.

Normally I’d be hitting the pubs…. but a bit different this time. Can anyone recommend good places to eat with kids in tow? Ideally not chains but somewhere independent or unique.

Depending on the age of the kids and budget etc, Sapporo's is a fab place for the family to eat and is something a bit different! There are quite a few independent places on bold Street that do fab food and are kid friendly too. Hope you have a fab weekend!

Wow I just read an article on this. I never knew about this changed my thoughts on the guy now anyone who burgles someone’s house is a disgusting human being. Thought it was just smack heads who did that type of thing. How is this not common knowledge I suppose he has come a long way but once a thief always a thief! Quite surprised he has managed to get some of the work he gets with this on his record. Guy is world class bell!

{Ed025's Note - absolutely SN..

So a mistake he made 30 years ago tars him forever. Paul Young got over it and accepted Gino's apology, maybe you should as well.

Decodeko I was over with my wife and daughter last weekend at the Norwich game. They were out shopping on Sunday and I went to O’Neills to watch the utd game. That evening we went to an Italian restaurant between O’Neills and concert square, villa romana is its name. All I can say is “unreal”. I’ve been over 30/ 40 times before with the lads and the poshest I’ve been to before that was the lobster pot. Maybe it was just me but I’ll definitely be back to it.

Casa Italia is surely one of the oldest in the city (maybe the country? ), it’s iconic and surely a must visit. Also i think they are a chain but i just love Crust on Bold Street, never let's me down. Seems like every time i eat there is the day of a European home game and the opposition fans are always in there!

Sorry Ed025, but Paul Young said he got most of the stuff back and has accepted the man's apology.

{Ed025's Note - oh thats ok then john, saying sorry cures everything then, maybe if putin flattens Ukraine but apologises all is forgiven..

Don't condone theft but comparing it to war seems a little much.

{Ed025's Note - its about being responsible for your actions for me mic, old fashioned i know..

Ed I also heard he broke into Goodison and robbed the Everton trophy cabinet. He was caught by the police but they couldn’t charge him due to a lack of evidence as he had no trophies in his possession 🤣.

{Ed025's Note - i like that JK.. :)

Gino DiCampo also recently said he starves his kids if they won't eat their tea and then serves it to them cold the next morning to teach them a lesson. I'm all for educating kids about food waste, but why not make them something they like Gino, you are a chef after all. He called parents 'morons' and 'idiots' if their kids are fussy eaters. As a chef, he should know about eating disorders.

With regard to the OP request - Bold St for sure - plenty of smaller, non-chain places. Baltic Triangle has several nice places too.

Not sure about Casa Italia anymore - been a while since I've been there, but if you want validation of its authenticity; I once ate in there and on the table next to us, was an Italian priest, eating their minestrone and then some pasta.

Bakedbeanboy that's that's bit of a stretch there mate, I mean I've always found the guy quite annoying personally but saying he starves his kids is a bit far. I grew up relatively low on the poverty line and so for us it was always you eat what you're given or you don't eat at all and because of that I would eat my food whether I liked it or not, his kids are probably having expensive food made for them by a decent enough chef it's their choice if they choose not to eat it I don't think that counts as being starved.

Op my kids live the panasian all you can eat buffet style restaurant by St John's. It does pizza and pasta as well if yous don't like the Chinese selection. Also the Chinese buffet by Speke retail Park. The food gets served by a robot which all the young kids find mesmerising.

I think most people believe in taking responsibility Ed. Not old fashioned at all and I believe exactly the same. I just don't think the two situations are comparable in any way.

{Ed025's Note - we all have different thresholds i suppose mic mate..

Ah, but then Paul Young broke into Gino's pomme de terre in town because he'd left his trilby there, refused to leave and claimed squatters rights.
It was tit for tat.

Paul Young got his guitar back as an apology from Gino.
But it was a no strings apology.
