Hello Ed002,
I'm just interested in something you said a while back about Mitrovic being a "very good option that Liverpool are missing right now". I don't doubt your opinion. I was just wondering if you could elaborate a bit more on why you think he will be a good option.

Do you think he would be a good option only with a different manager or even if Rodgers was in charge?

I ask this as Rodgers didn't want to play Andy Carroll and seems reluctant to play Lambert and Balotelli.
(Never understood why Liverpool replaced a very mobile striker in Luis Suarez, with 2 tall target men type strikers)

So is Mitrovic a similar type of striker to Lambert and Balotelli (but better).
Or is Mitrovic nothing like the other strikers.
Is Rodgers the reason why these strikers won't work at Liverpool.

Cheers.
(I realize that grouping Mitrovic, Lambert, Balotelli and Carroll into a stereotype is very simplistic and probably stupid)

{Ed002's Note - Aleksandar Mitrović offers everything Liverpool are missing - he is young, strong, fit, good in the air and he scores goals. In a way he is like a traditional centre forward. Unlike Manquillo, Moreno, Sakho and Gerrard, he speaks fluent English. People who have met him have said he is likeable and is reliable and will do what he is told. He would also likely slot straight in to the first team squad. Lambert perhaps at his best and 10 years ago or so would be the closest Liverpool have.

It really doesn't matter who the manager is, I think he would have been a good choice. However, here is interest in Anderlecht's Aleksandar Mitrović from Manchester United, Swansea, Dortmund, Newcastle and Eintracht Frankfurt. The interest of Leicester and Bayern Munich seems to have gone, but Arsenal may just look again at the player - depending on which direction they wish to go given their first choice as opted to moved elsewhere. The interest from Manchester United is recent and ramping up I am told. Newcastle are likely not an option.}

I always found Mitrovic a bit weak with his feet. but he scores goals!

2.) 13 May 2015 19:13:20
Alvarez, does he tend to score a lot of goals that just dribble over the line then, given his weak feet?

Thanks very much Ed002.

Glad you could work your way through my mess of a question.

enjoyed the Gerrard joke.

Zeddicus; A lot of his goals are from crosses, he doesn't tend to dibble with the ball. He can shoot.

Are any clubs interested in the Belgian Pro League pair Michy Batshuayi or Club Brugge's goalkeeper Mathew Ryan?
cheers

EGNK

{Ed002's Note - Someone associated with Arsenal told me a while back there is indeed interest from the club Michy Batshuayi - but I suspect is would be one for the future for them. Additionally, Anderlecht have declared that they would consider resigning the player, and Everton, Milan, Monaco and Lille have watched him recently.

I am not aware of interest in Ryan.}

Do you see Danny Ward getting any games until the end of the season? Being Australian, I was annoyed that Klopp kept Langerak on the bench for the majority of his stay in Dortmund, instead of loaning him out to get experience. But I do understand that goalkeepers need competition.

Do you think Klopp will follow a similar plan and let Ward fight Mignolet instead of being loaned out again in the summer. Thanks.

A question for the Ed's.
This isn't specific to Liverpool, but to clubs in general.
Do clubs directors actively inquire about managers availability(in short term long or long term), even if they are happy with their current manager? Like they do with players.

or are they more respectful and only inquire to agents if they want a change?

EGNK

{Ed002's Note - No, and they don't enquire about players if they have no interest..}

Do you expect Liverpool to have scouts watching the Asian Cup in Australia.
or do scouts not watch whole tournaments, just individuals.

I ask this as I believe Matt Ryan is the perfect fit for what Liverpool need as a goalkeeper. He is a presence in his box, vocal and is great at starting counter attacks.

EGNK

{Ed002's Note - I have no doubts that there will be someone representing Liverpool there.}

1.) Completely agree. Mat Ryan looks good. Haven't heard of any interest from us though.

If Liverpool are looking for a Suarez replacement, would it likely be a player with champions league experience (Eg huntelaar) or someone like Suarez was before, relatively unknown but with potential to develop (world cup aside). And if so would that player be someone like markovic. I understand that this question is a bit opinionated, in terms of how 'well known' Suarez was at Ajax, but I mean a player who is not playing in a top European side, such as Barcelona. Thanks

are we going to bid for Yaya Toure?. ha, just joking.

But, is it true that Rodgers wants to get players signed before the world cup, or is it more realistic that we will wait until after the world cup (because of injuries or lack of time)

cheers

EGNK

{Ed002's Note - The world cup begins before the transfer window opens.}

He's better than any other goalkeeper we have been linked to.

Watch his performance against Torino.
