Don't about everyone else, but i'm really looking forward to the game tonight (especially after the last time we played this team in europe and beat them 8-0 lol)
Don't think we should play our usual starting 11 today, or atleast not all of them. Balo definitely needs a start in the new formation as he'll get the support he needs up top - would like to see borini and lallana alongside him.
Manquilo on the right, Can and Gerrad in the centre with Ibe on the left I think would work well; Toure, Lovren (needs a 2nd chance in the new formation) and then either Sakho/Skrtel as the 3rd centre half.
Got a good feeling about tonight and looking forward to seeing us in Europe again (even though it's not Champions league) - get the job more or less done tonight then focus on the next 2 MASSIVE BPL games.

I got to admit I am quite happy with the starting lineup. Could backfire if we struggle, but would like a thumping victory to get the boys (and the fans) confidence up.

Lets continue the winning mentality

Note when I posted the comment, Jack, I was hoping for a thumping victory before the game. Now I'm just glad we won!!

Well after that I don't think we deserve to win the league tbh. Great season with so many great attacking performances but you can't win the league defending like we have done at times I'm affraid. One player for each defensive position is needed and if I'm honest, I'm never going to feel completely comfortable with migs in goal either - would love us to try for lloris.

Well looks like Salah is off to chelsea. enjoy playing behind Hazard, Willian, Schurrle and Oscar then going out on loan for the next 3 seasons to different teams until they decide to sell you as a 24 year old whos wasted his potential warming the bench :)

Think he could have been a really good player for us, getting regular game time with pretty little competition for a starting place but like many the call of $$$$ has influenced his choice. But really, good luck to you!

However, our tendancy to wait around for weeks negotiating for these quality foreign players over 2/3m has to stop. We seem pretty happy to pay double for the price for these English players (Carrol, Downing, Henderson, Allen) but mess around for long enough for other top teams to come in and steal the ones who are actually worth the money.

My faith in us signing a player this month has now diminished, so hopefully we'll stay away from any more injuries (unlikely) and be able to clinch 4th spot with our current squad, which is a big ask in my opinion even after our promising start.

Personally feel that without atleast 1 addition (ideally two) this month, then we will struggle to get top 4. It has been proven that without a defensive minded midfielder (ie Lucas) we are pretty poor a stopping the opposition from scoring, so a solid CDM is essential; what is concerning is Rodgers comments on how he feels that Gerrard really can continue to be the only 'defensive midifielder' in place of Lucas while he is sidelined as we can't keep trying to outscore our opponents every game, it simply won't work all the time if very often atall!

A winger it seems is the other position that we feel needs to be strengthened, as Countinho hasn't been great in recent weeks/months and seems to need a rest but as it currently stands we have no one to replace him.
These two positions have been of concern even when Lucas and Countinho were fit/playing well as its important to have other options but instead we failed to recognise this in the summer and bought unproven youngsters in alberto and illori who at 6/7million each, you would normally expect to be more than mere prospects and should be regularly part of the first team for that price; and chelsea and valencia cast offs in moses and cissokho.

I guess we'll see in the next week or so how much FSG and Rodgers REALLY want champions league football this year as I fear that Suarez and even Sturridge won't be around for much longer if we don't get it.

Here is my evaluation of our current situation here at Liverpool:

Firstly, yesterdays result highlighted how much our squad lacks depth and a threat going forward. There is nothing wrong with having two strikers scoring the majority of our goals, but when our midfielders are contributing virtually nothing to that goal tally (most of them have scored no more than 2) then alarm bells should ring even when we are winning games, as it shows that if injuries hit either of them we will have big problems! And it seems that this stands true after seeing the last two games without sturridge and countinho starting.
Our midfield is currently one of the weakest in the top half of the table in my view with 3 players (gerrard, Lucas, Hendo) who are basically holding/engine players with little goal threat, physicality, flair or creativity; without coutinho their is no link between midfield and attack and I can't believe this wasnt addressed in summer with another player of coutinhos quality, instead we felt moses was the answer (never liked him at chelsea and did alright in a average wigan side). We need to add a power house, winger with pace and flair and a slick central playmaker in order to have a midfield worthy of securing top 4. I just hope Rodgers does not waste this upcoming window like he did the last (adding 3 more central defenders when their are only 2 places available, teenagers purchased for high prices who aren't ready, useless loan players, others that have rarely played).
Rodgers really needs to address these issues because relying on three players to create and score all your goals is insane and will not achieve top four!
