I understand all the criticism about our performance - we played awful and got lucky.
However would you rather we played amazing attacking football, hit the post about 15 times and lost 1-0?
It's still early days yet I think our performances will improve.
Hopefully we will raise our game against Arsenal, but I would still take a jammy 1-0 win ;).

No, I think everyone would love it if we played like that and won every game 1-0, because that would mean we would be champions, but use common sense, if we continue to play like that we will be in real trouble. You can accept average performances if your implementing a new style of play that the players are getting used to, but absolutely no lessons have been learned seemingly, and he won't try and change anything until we start loosing, he's reactive not pro active and that will see him sacked.

Just watched the Wolves - Hull game. Connor Coady was playing for Wolves and looked very good. Shame it didn't work out for him here, if he had been given more opportunities I think he could have been a regular in the 1st team squad.
Ah well hopefully he works his way back up to the prem and who knows one day he could end up back at Anfield.

Very happy with the result today, the performance doesn't matter so much at this stage, especially away to Stoke.
The only thing that bothered me today was Benteke's pressing (or lack of it). I was at the game and he was so frustrating to watch. He stood around all game and let Milner come out of midfield to close the opposition down, leaving a massive hole in the middle.
Other than that I'm a happy man. Big Emre changed the game when he came on, Coutinho, Milner, Lovren & Clyne all very tidy. Firmino looked quality when he came on, he will be massive for us this season.
onwards and upwards to next week.

Agreed. Fair enough he prob wasn't asked to press at Villa and he's just joined but he needs to learn to do that and fast!

Disagree! We did not press at all as a team until Can came on which freed Hendo and Milner to press them up the pitch so why is he getting the blame for what no one else did? He worked hard, won every header and bullied every opponent he went against on the ground, IMO. This is coming from someone who was skeptical about Benteke arriving, btw.

To be fair to Benteke, no one was really pressing so it would have largely been a waste of energy on his part to do so by himself.

I don't post very often but read the site a lot. Thanks to all the Eds for the hard work.
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve tonight. 1st away game of the season, no better place to start than the Britannia to banish the demons of last season!
Hopefully a good performance and 3 points for the Redmen!

I have been embarressed by the atmosphere lately. It only starts to bounce if we score.
Unfortunately there's too many people going to the match who are more interested in taking photos than to join in and sing. I read something the other day that in some countries it it seen as disrespectful to get your camera / phone out while the match is being played. Maybe we should try to take a leaf out of their book, and if you see a 'supporter' next to you using their phone, politely tell them to wait until the final whistle. Can't see it happening myself but it's worth a try!

I met most of the players just before they got on the victory parade bus after Istanbul. A lot of the players just walked past when I was asking for autographs. Cisse was one of the only players that stopped and had a chat!

Personally I would keep Ings up top. He's looked the only player who's up for it at the moment. Fast becoming a fan favourite!
It's up to Benteke to win his place back now.
