Could the speed that the firmino deal was done suggest a deal has been reached for sterling but it's being kept quiet until we got a replacement? Similar to what happened when bale went to Madrid, the worst kept secret in history

Probably looks like it. With Firmino joining lallana, Ibe, Markovic and Coutinho in the attacking midfield ranks, Sterling imo is now surplus to requirements and anything more than 40 million GBP for him would represent brilliant business for the club and give us the necessary cash to sign a quality CF which looks to be Bacca right now. The club needs a CF now, not Sterling so i hope it is Bacca in, Sterling out.

Is the reason for withdrawing the contract offer down to already having found a replacement for him?
