Ed's, not 100% Liverpool related but more a general enquiry. Moving forward in these times, specifically using Werner as an example as i believe Chelsea had to pay the fee up front? How transfer deals are structured, will this cause clubs not to buy now during the current climate rather than being able to take a chance previously when they had a more secure higher income. Would Liverpool perhaps have been able to get involved in Werner talks if a "Deal" could have been structured to suit their liking or something they could have lived with?
{Ed002's Note - Paying the fee in one shot will get a discount over splitting the fee over June this year and June next. Spreading fees over longer periods is a bit of a recipe for disaster, not because circumstances like the pandemic were coming along, but because it limits future purchases within FFP, and with a likely down turn it may well have a larger impact for those clubs that leve hand to mouth. Liverpool did not enter in to talks about any deal like Chelsea did (and another interested side did) but concentrated their efforts on an illegal approach. The Liverpool CEO has explained the financial situation at the club to the fans.}

I get ya Ed. We heard the same from UTD fans after AWB delivered his inch perfect cross for his 1st assist of the season before lockdown. He’s the best RB in the world etc etc. I think it’s the only time he hasn’t lost possession over the half way line tbh.
