Hi ED002

With Tottenham looking likely to make a move for Adama Traore. Could you see Liverpool also entering the race to sign him, or are Liverpool still not in a position financially to make a suitable offer?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - As I have said - if Wolves would entertain terms for him then maybe.}

Reports of a possible loan with obligation to buy in media today ( for spurs), seems like a possible option for us if true? There is def a player in there if he could gain more composure in front of goal and can be explosive, think he would def create space for others like mane, salah and jota also. i know he can divide opinion but he reminds me of salah when he first snubbed us and moved to Chelsea in that he gets into promising positions but lacks that finishing touch.

Dow, Salah scored 10 goals across all competitions in the two years before joining Chelsea, including a very prolific spell in the champions league where he was absolutely destroying defenders and showing he could finish, at no point in Traore’s career has he ever got even close to 10 goals across all competitions. You can’t coach finishing ability and composure, and if they couldn’t get that into him at La Masia I don’t think anyone else is going to succeed, he’s just power and pace, no subtlety or finesse. With any luck Spurs will get it over the line so we don’t waste money that we can’t afford to waste.

Actually you can coach both finishing and composure. But with Adama you clearly can’t, because he’s had some of the best coaching and he’s now beyond, it’s like that saying of old dog new tricks. He’s at a place where he’s got a theme, his pace and muscle and has rewarded himself with both money and position (regular premiership player) so in his circumstance you cannot teach him. But there are players at his age. Older, younger who want to improve to become more and then yes you can teach or coach better awareness and finishing. So with that fact he’s not for us. He’s an impact player that flatters. If Klopp sees something he got the A-Team goggles on. Adama is like that Bazooka they come across, the one that will do all that but once fired whizzed past the target and results in nothing.
Good luck to him, elsewhere please.

I thought it was clicking for Adama about 18 months/ 2 years ago but it was a false dawn. I honestly thought he was starting to kick on and could become a real top player but I think at 25 that chance may have passed as I’m not sure what more development there will be in him.
Klopp seems to love him though and every time we play Wolves he seems to publicly swoon over him and with his track record of transfers at Liverpool you have to trust his judgement, I just think playing against teams like ourselves which play a high line and can leave themselves exposed to the break is where Adama excels but the times Liverpool play against teams that set up this way over a season you can probably count on one hand.

I actually wouldn't mind adama traore as an option from the bench or a starter against teams that like to sit back and be physical.
But only if he is 20 million or so. He is not a 50 million odd player.

Could be Klopp mind games. Think about it. This guy has zero threat with almost no goals or assists. You’d want that stat playing against you each time wouldn’t you. So yeah he’s incredible, amazing, unplayable, oh wow hope we don’t face him next time around so dangerous 😉.
