A reliable Southampton journalist says he expects Lavia to end up at Liverpool this summer. Maybe we're now focusing on him as Thuram is proving too difficult?

Make sense as would be back up / long term replacement for Fabinho plus his classed as homegrown and we only have one overseas space left.

Since he is u21 does his homegrown status matter? Can’t remember if there is something to it if the player hasn’t been at the club for a year yet or something like that. Ofc in some years it’s nice he will be homegrown.

Dan-ish, doesn’t matter now as there’s no nationality requirement for U21s, they are all allowed to be played regardless. Main issue is to ensure we have a team with HG players in the future. So far I believe that Elliot, Bradley and Bajcetic will all count as both HG and CT when they come of age - CT as long as they (primarily Bradley) don’t end up having too many more loans away from the club.

We currently have Gomez, Trent, Jones and Hendo who are HG right now. Plus Kelleher (albeit he may move) . Have I missed anyone? Probably!

I can see Thiago being sold to the Saudi's. Its like having a vintage but delicate old ferarri in the garage that can't handle bumps in the road.
Tsimi is surely off too-we don't need him anymore.

Is Lavia any good ed1? can't say I ever particularly focused on him. Id imagine most people haven't either but are keen to sign him anyway. Curious. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - from what I saw he is very good, but it is obviously a lot about his potential to improve. He is technically strong though, as well as mobile.}
