Morning all. Eds is there any serious interest in nico Williams from Spain for us? And that olmo looks very good also. Is Diaz definitely off? And summerville a serious option? Cheers guys.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Nico Williams (LW/RW) Young Basque winger and brother to Inaki who has eased himself in to the first team over the last two seasons. Terse response from the Spanish U21 set up (along the lines of "he does not score many goals for an attacker") when told he was changing his allegiance to Ghana, like his brother - and that led to him changing back to Spain. There was plenty of interest in him so a contract extension and buy out clause were awarded to the player at the start of 2022 and again in December 2023, pricing him out of a move to Barcelona plus a significant signing on fee, plus wages of €350k per week - but they remain interested although they need to sell before buying so must prioritise. Likely to be preferred to Luis Diaz who may find himself struggling for options. The player has made it clear he wants to move to Barcelona but the club say he is happy and wants to stay. Seen as far more affordable than Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Rafael Leao for PSG. The Aston Villa coach wishes to be reunited and they will push for a deal in the summer but he may opt to stay for a year or two more after signing a new contract. Looked at by numerous Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal as well as Barcelona and Real Madrid. Chelsea are put off by the attitude, wages being asked for and he is not first choice but an advisor is still pushing Chelsea to make a bid. Arsenal may bite and make an offer and Newcastle offer a wildcard option. Should get the move he wants to Barcelona.

Dani Olmo (AM/W) Could still be sold this summer if a significant offer were to be made that is close to his €60M termination Clause. Atletico, Spurs, Manchester City and Barcelona were interested, although Barcelona have preferred options in Williams and Diaz and need to sell to buy or horse trade - they may be the only interested side left although I would not discount Manchester City. The player is keen to move to Barcelona. Chelsea considered him as a Mason Mount replacement last summer but have preferred options now. Manchester United or Liverpool may offer a wildcard option. Bayern Munich interest has gone due to injury concerns.

Luis Diaz (LW) Could be surplus. His agent already has one player in the Saudi league and has been offering another high profile player he has - so he may well be looking at Diaz as well given Liverpool are well stocked in the position. Al-Hillal may offer a solution. Liverpool will likely resist a deal but could look to a deal with Barcelona if they are serious about Raphinha, but Diaz is not first choice for Barcelona. Using him in part exchange for another may be possible. Thoughts that PSG want him as an Mbappe replacement are well wide of the mark given they have very clear targets already, but his agent has approached PSG - but no more than that. Father says he wants to move to Spain. Liverpool need his future resolved and he may well haved burned his bridges at the club.

Crysencio Summerville (RW/LW) Leeds have no interest in selling but his agent is looking for a step up and speaking with clubs about him - he has certainly approached PSG, Chelsea, Newcastle and Spurs and I suspect others. PSG have made an approach to Leeds but may only offer him a bit part role. Both Brighton and Bayer Leverkusen have spoken directly with Leeds. Agent is close to Aston Villa and the City Football Group. A move seems likely even though Leeds will look for a new contract. I am not aware of Liverpool making any approach yet but I understand Slot is a fan of the youngster from advice given to him by Sipke Hulshoff - who knows him well. If he were to replace Salah, there has to be an element of risk but he may become first choice. Crystal Palace have dropped their interest after recruiting a wide player to replace Olise. PSG, Newcastle and Brighton will push but Brighton have already rejected a request to include a buy out clause.}

1.) 07 Jul 2024 14:37:55
I am not against leaving the forward options as they are for this coming season given Salah looks as though he intends to stay and Barcelona are unlikely to stump up the cash for Lucho.

It's a shame Nico Williams is already out of our salary range - he looks a real talent.

Anthony Gordon seems like a very costly solution to a problem we don't have.

Feels too early for Summerville to go to a top club. I'd have preferred Yankuba Minteh to him.

CB, DM and LB are bigger priorities.

2.) 07 Jul 2024 15:19:44
Tend to agree FPF although I’d throw GK into the mix. I think as it stands the biggest priority is replacing Adrian, Matip and Thiago.

So 3rd choice keeper, a CB if Van den Berg wants out, and a midfielder if Morton is deemed not good enough.

From a personal point of view I agree with you and also want a LB option because Gomez isn’t a LB and Tsimikas is a huge drop off from Robbo. Is Beck that option? Don’t know but we can’t go into another season hoping Robbo is fit for 60 games.

Kelleher and Diaz are obviously pushing for moves away as well but only if they leave do we need a 2nd keeper or a replacement winger.

The squads strong. Slot said as much himself. We’re not really short in many positions other than LB quality wise and the gaps left by expired contracts.

3.) 07 Jul 2024 17:14:41
Think we could manage a salary for Williams, after all we've saved £350k a week as opposed to last season with Adrian, Thiago and Joel leaving. just think he'll end up at Barcelona though.

4.) 07 Jul 2024 22:26:11
It's not that black and white, JN.

5.) 08 Jul 2024 00:35:52
@mk scoundrel, I agree we are well stocked up but not with the quality we need. We need to replace Thiago, Matip and Adrian…. agreed. However upfront is my concern. We create a lot of chances but our only real threat upfront is jota when fit. Salah is on a downward decline and is missing more and more opportunities (yes he was our top scorer last season but how many chances did they have to create for him to score? ), Nunez I just don’t think is good enough…. two seasons and no improvement in finishing, Diaz clearly wants out, gakpo needs to play on the left wing…. there is a clear lack of goals from our forwards and that’s concerning! What’s the point of creating so many chances to have forwards that are more likely to miss them?

6.) 08 Jul 2024 10:09:08
Sometimes it is Oli. and besides, any top player is going to want top wages, or do we just give up on top players the minute we hear what poke they take home?

7.) 08 Jul 2024 10:22:08
MK Scoundrel ?

You make a fair point though Big Pooper! (Sorry couldn’t resist)

We do need our forwards to be more clinical next season. I think Nunez might be on his last life line.

8.) 08 Jul 2024 12:51:52
Don’t think we’ll ever see the best of Diaz unless we build the team around him, love the guy still but that injury does seem to have taken its toll. Replace him with Gordon or Williams if possible…. probably Williams unlikely. But should be ahead of Gordon all day
I’d sell Jota because of his constant injuries and get in Olmo, superb player. And salah should be a going to too, at the very least an understudy like Summerville brought in.
Buy a defensive midfielder powerhouse a new centre back (maybe sell konate) but I’d like him to stay and get back to what he was and a back up keeper unless we promote a youth.

Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras Any truth in this Ed’s? And chiesa?

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Luis Guilherme (AM) Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona have shown an interest in the player for next summer. Chelsea discussed him during negotiations two other players. Spurs may well have noted him when scouting another Palmeiras player. However, a new contract and a €60M release clause may prove to be an issue.}

16 Nov 2023 07:27:32
Good morning Ed’s…. just a quick question for yous. Are Andre, Thuram or Kone still of any interest for January or next summer would you think. Especially Andre in January. Cheers guys.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Andre Trindade (DM) Recommended to Liverpool as Fabinho cover a couple of years ago. Arsenal have scouted the player and may well make a move prior to the January Window with Edu being praised as being more respectful than a representative of another club. Prior interest of Barcelona and Braga has gone. Fulham are keen to take him if Bayern Munich return and they lose Palinha - but there is a catch for interested parties who have been told must be resolved. Fluminense only own 80% of his rights and that would need to be addressed. They will also seek perhaps €40M including add ons. I would not rule out Napoli but they may be some way off meeting the transfer fee or indeed Manchester United who will need a Casemiro replacement. I am not aware of any agreement between Liverpool and Fluminense just yet but there is the possibility of completing the transfer for January although they will have competition. Fluminense have a replacement lined up.
Khephren Thuram (DM/CM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs in the summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs, Liverpool and, in particular, Juventus remains. Interest of Newcastle will likely fall away. If interest further grows his price will rise and the club would sell given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka and an impressive youngster in Reda Belahyane. Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City, out. Player wants PSG but they have no interest at this time - but his representative is pushing PSG and will encourage the player to wait out the year and see what happens.
Manu Kouadio Kone (CM/DM) Prior interest of Milan has gone. Newcastle did approach Borussia Muenchegladbach but they will resist a sale although Newcastle remain keen. RBL were keen to add Kone to replace Laimer but that interest, like the interest of Bayern Munich has gone. Juventus and Liverpool may have a continuing interest but I expect both to look elsewhere.}

25 Jul 2023 13:13:59
Any truth in this eds? Andre Trindade, a 22-year-old from Fluminese. Holding midfielder apparently. New name drop. Doubt it myself.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Andre Trindade (DM Recommended to Liverpool as Fabinho cover a couple of years ago. Prior interest of Barcelona and Braga has gone. Fulham are keen to take him if the lose Palinha and Liverpool could potentially add him to their list of options - but there is a huge catch. Fluminense only own 80% of his rights and that would need to be resolved. They will also seek perhaps €40M including add ons.}

1.) 25 Jul 2023 13:55:11
I like the look of this player. Good against the press and breaking up opposition play. Looks like he can beat a man too.

2.) 25 Jul 2023 14:58:46
Do you think it would be a risk Ed002 compared to others we’ve looked at?

Wolves signed a highly rated Brazilian holding midfielder last season (Joao Gomes) from Flumieense in the Brazilian league who has taken time to settle into the PL.

I would prefer we target premier league proven or at least European league proven players.

{Ed002's Note - There has to be a level of risk given his age and experience, and as you say it may well take time for him to settle. And yes, I think that there are better options on the list for Liverpool.}

3.) 25 Jul 2023 15:46:44
Thanks Ed. Palinha out for a while with his disclocated shoulder? and did we seriously have him on the list of possible targets. Decent player.

4.) 25 Jul 2023 16:14:19
Klopp did say he wished the club would take more risks re transfers, Trindade could be a viable, Ali could aid his settling.

However, playing both sides of this debate, SB is already in the first team, Lavia has experience and 3 years younger.

I’m not the person to say how Trindade will develop or Lavia either, but SB looks an awesome prospect to me.

5.) 25 Jul 2023 18:54:40
Kew17, we did take more risks in the TW last season for the disaster that we all know off with 3 of the 4 signings we made being gone already while Darwin as well was a huge risk so IMO, we are taking the risks in this context, IMO.

However with the way things panned out last season, it would not be strange to hear that we are being a bit more pragmatic in this window, making sure that we have all our ducks in a row before we pull the trigger.

6.) 25 Jul 2023 19:35:05
Good points Oilred, wasn’t thinking of last season windows, cheers, can’t disagree with your points.

23 Apr 2023 21:33:59
Apparently. jude really really wants liverpool this summer. judes representatives been talking to liverpool for ages
We did offer a little over 85m in the last couple of weeks
Dortmund want him to sign a new contract with a release clause of 80m next summer.
This is not over.

Magico1234

1.) 23 Apr 2023 22:22:51
It won’t be over until the lad retires from the game and even then it might not stop.

2.) 23 Apr 2023 22:40:38
I think we should sign him and play him at right back. Trent is our new midfielder now.

3.) 24 Apr 2023 00:40:05
Thank god Joaquin is retiring at the end of the season, otherwise he'd be on his way to Anfield this summer (! )

4.) 24 Apr 2023 07:04:57
Forget it OP. It’s not happening.

5.) 24 Apr 2023 09:31:39
Lets hope it doesn't get wheeled out by the likes of James Pearce and Paul Gorst as an excuse for a half-baked rebuild this summer.

Just watched Germany v Hungary because only to see what szob was like, always led to believe he was the main man for Hungary being captain and all: Have to say I was very disappointed in him strolling around, no tracking back no desire, no movement, just trotting around waiting for ball to his feet. Young lad needs to change his attitude I’m starting to feel.

Magico1234

1.) 19 Jun 2024 21:04:25
He’s awful I’ve said this for ages but everybody defends him he’s not even good at passing yet nobody believe me. Good at shooting at decent technique that’s it he doesn’t offer anything else.

2.) 19 Jun 2024 21:26:21
He's not awful but he's not top class. Not from what I've seen so far anyway.
Last summer's midfield rebuild was disappointing.

3.) 19 Jun 2024 21:32:05
Just so I understand the rules, we cannot buy anyone based on their performances at a tournament because international football is different to club football but we can write a player off based on their performances at a tournament?

4.) 19 Jun 2024 22:01:54
He's a great passer actually and technically superb. He's a brilliant player, only 23 and he's playing in a struggling Hungarian team. It's a fresh start for everyone come the beginning of the season. It gets forgotten just how good he was at the beginning of last season. If hws able to replicate that we have a worldclass 8.

5.) 19 Jun 2024 22:25:42
Macaa and Trent are good passers dom isn’t he misplaced plenty of simple passes last season. He’s good at dead ball but in game mostly hopeless. I maybe too harsh saying he’s awful ok he’s bang average sorry for having a deferent opinion to you.

6.) 19 Jun 2024 21:48:18
The midfield rebuild was awful?
Mac was close to player of the year, lots of people said "we just needed to remove the H from Hendo and we ended up with a great holding mid, " and sboz was initially hauled as the new Gerrard. Grav showed potential, fair enough, but labelling the rebuild as awful is a bit silly I think.

7.) 19 Jun 2024 23:11:46
I only watched the first hour or so but I thought he was fine? He produced their most dangerous opportunities and nearly scored twice, I also saw him tracking back and putting in a shift but maybe you saw something different, it’s his job to get on the ball and create for them and they look for him every chance they get.

8.) 19 Jun 2024 23:35:50
You are right Patrik. It seems everyone here knows more than most of the managers who actually work with these players. Szobo is dead awful apparently, yet the whole team is structured around him. He was magnificent in their qualifiers. It's just that Hungary don't have a very good team, and its much more difficult to drag a team alone in a major tournament.

9.) 19 Jun 2024 23:42:22
100% agree with Thunderbird!

10.) 20 Jun 2024 02:06:35
Who said the rebuild was awful, Burkeyboy?
Mac did ok in his first season. Szob will never be another Gerrard. Endo will never be Hendo and I didn't see Grav's potential. The rebuild was 'disappointing'.
It may prove not to be disappointing but they have been so far.

11.) 20 Jun 2024 02:54:19
I think one of the problems with Hungary is that everything goes through dom, it’s sort of feeling like when we relied on stevie g to get us a result through sheer force of will and a moment of magic, when he created that assist against Switzerland he redefined the ball deep on the left drifting into that space conspicuously, rather than having him pick up the ball in the middle and drive forward with it

Hungary actually have quite an interesting structure tactically insofar as it isn’t so bound by position, but dom being the freest player on the pitch he’s expected to do too much on the ball when the team advance up the pitch, their only other outlet is kerkez bombing down the left from deep

Don’t forget that this is the youngest captain in euro history, and he is carrying the weight of an entire country’s expectations this tournament (and the country expect to get out of the group at least, they were excellent in the qualifying rounds), he’s not some kind of bum.

12.) 20 Jun 2024 09:14:12
Literally all we needed to do to get back into the champions league was our legs into our midfield. We did that and it was easy.
But to topple Man City. That’s a different story, we need upgrades all around the pitch.

13.) 20 Jun 2024 09:15:00
Another day another player shot down, is this summer have a go at players on the banter page, seems all we get.

14.) 20 Jun 2024 10:05:23
Should rename the page to bash any Liverpool player.

I used to visit this website religiously every day now just dip in once a week some of the posting is mental.

15.) 20 Jun 2024 10:14:47
Yep, Thunderbird 2. You have cracked the code, mate. The goal post shifting is mad. Macca for ex., was a boss player just cos he was very good at the last WC and won it, by some who used this as the excuse to big him up when he arrived. Personally, I've been a big fan of Macca since his Brighton days so not arsed about his perf. at an intl comp I didn't even watch, for full disclosure.

Now, the goal posts have shifted on Szobo (who many praised as signing of the season in his first 3 months until injury and poor play affected him, btw) and people have now used this int'L tournament (the same stuff they/ many say they don't rate) where his team overall are not very good esp. defensively to berate him ONLY. Now notice that this for some, this yardstick of bigging up a player dong well for his country (like they did for Macca) has NEVER applied to a guy named Darwin Nunez who kills it for Uruguay? Hmmm, I wonder why?

So essentially, we use a yardstick to big up a player when it suits us and then use the same one to bash a player when it suits us. Brilliant.

16.) 20 Jun 2024 10:48:57
I didn’t watch the game but I’ve seen a clip of Thomas Frank singing the praises of Szoboszlai. From what he was saying Szoboszlai was everywhere; pressing Kroos to disrupt the German play, making things happen on the ball and also only denied a goal by a world class save.

I can’t comment personally on his performance, but I’ve always got more time for managers doing punditry than ex-players. I think ex-players are generally low IQ muppets who get a job in punditry off the back of their reputation on the pitch or if I put my more cynical hat on, to help hit diversity quotas. Frank spoke well so I’m going to take his word for it and assume Szoboszlai had a decent game.

17.) 20 Jun 2024 11:12:10
I watched the exact same game and thought he was full of energy and showed some excellent touches of the ball. He seemed refreshed and energetic and was playing in a Hungary team that has struggled.

18.) 20 Jun 2024 11:13:08
I think that if anything he relishes being the main man on his team and stands up to assume responsibility when the chips are down, he’s always looking to make things happen or get on the end of chances himself, one thing you can’t say with him is that he’s passive or that he doesn’t try to impose himself on the game, if anything the problem is that he sometimes tries to do too much. we don’t know what it must feel like to be the golden boy of the national team, especially one that has been transformed/ inflated by orban into some sort of sportswashing chauvinistic vehicle for hyper nationalist sentiment, where half the Hungarian fans are chanting your name and wearing your shirt, remember always that he’s only 23.

Have some empathy for our players and try taking a fairer view of their struggles and achievements. We have a cracking player in dom, let’s see if slot can help him get his head right if Hungary exit the euros, I think dom can be perfect in one of the positions behind the 9 that slot likes to utilise.

19.) 20 Jun 2024 11:26:31
It’s getting really boring the same posts bashing our players every day from the same few posters.

Thought this was supposed to be a Liverpool fan page. It’s like being on a Man United page at times.

It’s not about have a different opinion. It’s about some posters just trolling the page and bashing a different player each day trying to get a reaction.

20.) 20 Jun 2024 15:48:16
I stopped reading these posts after Thunderbird's brilliant post

Thank you TB!

Some of you really need to take a long hard look at yourselves.

21.) 20 Jun 2024 23:57:01
You need to open your mind a lot more, JLC.

22.) 21 Jun 2024 02:23:06
As a supporter of the club and players, that rebuilt midfield had their club firmly in the title race until about 5ish weeks to go in the season. Each one had matches where they were the best player on the field. Not sure how anyone could say that the rebuild was a failure.

Klopp set the bar high, but not total and complete domination high. 3 midfielders made the adjustment to a new club in the same year and at times made their club the best in the league.

I was proud of their contributions and can't wait to see their improvement.

04 Jun 2024 20:37:58
Who's actually looking forward to the euros? Have to say I'm well up for it this time, be supporting England all the way. Have the quality to win this time, believe trent should be a starter too. The only teams I'd possibly want to dodge are Portugal and france.

Magico1234

1.) 04 Jun 2024 22:05:48
I'm not bothered personally, but good luck to them.

2.) 04 Jun 2024 22:50:46
I'm looking forward to them as well. And thanks to the time difference, I get to listen to the games at work, which beats work at work!

3.) 05 Jun 2024 00:32:38
I know lots of people don't agree, but I'll be dragging out my "Scouse not English" T-shirt for the next few weeks.

4.) 05 Jun 2024 01:13:18
I'll watch whatever games I can purely because I want to watch some footy but I don't believe England will win it. I reckon it'll be France.

5.) 05 Jun 2024 01:52:32
Oddly, Southgate seems to have picked a reasonable squad (a broken clock is still right twice a day) . Still sceptical though as I think he still has it within him to go all defensive and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. As probably one of a small minority on here who can actually remember us winning an international trophy, I’d enjoy it if we did win - it sets up a good feeling for footy in England.

6.) 05 Jun 2024 02:37:03
I'm really looking forward to it. I don't have a dog in the fight, but it's still a great tournament. It's a shame Iceland didn't qualify this time though. That was a great bandwagon to jump on last time they were there. I think Spain will be good to watch this time round.

7.) 05 Jun 2024 04:10:26
I'll watch when I can, it's free on TV in New Zealand.

Don't have a horse in the race but generally take an interest in the international tournaments when they're on.

I really liked the Czech team when they had a bit of a good period with Rosicky, Koller, Baros etc so have had a soft spot for them.

Always interested in what the liverpool lads are up to as well.

8.) 05 Jun 2024 04:32:19
I’m looking forward to watching the Hungary games, they play a really interesting free flowing sort of game and dom is great for them, should be an intriguing watch, Italy under spalletti should also be a good watch, I love his philosophy as a coach, he also gives players a lot of freedom

Also it’s always great to see Bellingham play, even though I’m not at all an England fan.

9.) 05 Jun 2024 06:05:31
Yeah, I'm not bothered. Might watch the occasional game just to see how Trent does in midfield.

10.) 05 Jun 2024 06:24:09
Like most people I find international football tiresome but I still love the tournaments. England should go far but I suspect they’ll fall at the semifinals or final.

11.) 05 Jun 2024 07:36:43
I’d love England to win it, as it increases the chances of Southgate managing either United or City.

12.) 05 Jun 2024 08:02:46
Im hoping all the teams with Liverpool players go out in the first round. c'mon Belgium (unless we have someone Flemish i've forgotten about)

13.) 05 Jun 2024 08:31:19
Always love the big international tournaments. Hopeful for England but suspect France or Germany, on home soil, most likely.

14.) 05 Jun 2024 08:59:50
I'll have a vested interest until Scotland go out at the group stage, and then I'll probably check out until the semi's, and then pay a bit more attention.

If there's any day games I might watch them when working from home.

Reckon the usual suspects will be in the semi's - France, Portugal, England, Italy.

15.) 05 Jun 2024 12:28:48
I always look forward to int'l comps. cos I grew up watching them for decades. Wish I could watch the Copa America, as well. Always loved that tournament.

23 May 2024 18:40:33
Eds Just a quick 1 who who you prefer for salah position should he go or be back up, bakayoko, kudus, Summerville or kubo? Summerville looks very impressive to me.

Magico1234

{Ed001's Note - don't most of them play on the left?}

1.) 23 May 2024 21:54:27
Bakayoko, Kudus, Kubo predominantly play on the right.

2.) 24 May 2024 07:54:07
Summerville is all about dropping the shoulder and cutting inside onto his right foot and shooting. Playing him on the right would take that way from his game. Similar to if we played Salah on the left.

Very good player though and would be a good replacement if Diaz left.

3.) 24 May 2024 08:55:18
@Navy that made me laugh - I had an image of him dropping his shoulder and heading straight over the wall into the fans.

4.) 24 May 2024 10:09:16
Ed1 then if you could pick someone who would it be that’s obtainable.

{Ed001's Note - probably Kubo.}

5.) 24 May 2024 11:04:49
I think Bakayoko can make the step up and become something special but it's not without risk.

Many players from the Dutch league have not looked the same in a tougher league. But I think he is one of the ones who could make it.

He'd be my choice right now.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen much of him, Kubo is the only one I have really watched a lot of and he has come on in leaps and bounds.}

6.) 24 May 2024 12:23:13
Know of any approaches or discussions about the position then Ed’s…. i do like kubo and comes from a superior team and league, but I’d snap Summerville or bakayoko up also.

{Ed002's Note - Rught now I expect Bakayoko will emerge as favourite once it is clear what is happening with Salah.}

Spot on, Ed. I said on here that Kudus reminds me of a young Sadio with the raw ability and tenacity Mane possessed in his early 2à's. Not sure we can get him, tho since he just signed for WH last season.

Ed’s serious question, where have all the worlds top strikers gone; remember the 90s 00s they was a surplus of really top strikers, seem few and far between now.

Magico1234

{Ed001's Note - they got old and retired mate. Same happened to Pele and Maradona as well.}

1.) 09 Apr 2024 09:30:44
But where is the new generation, there seems a seriously lack of quality of strikers in the majority of leagues and nationalities. Take England for instance apart from harry kane there are no more top class English forwards whereas we had shearer sheringham fowler Cole Owen Ferdinand ect.

{Ed001's Note - because everyone is taught the same - how to pass, pass, pass and pass some more and to avoid giving the ball away by doing things like shooting.}

2.) 09 Apr 2024 20:15:16
Spot on, Ed01. Strikers back then were mavericks who were allowed to flourish with the talent they had naturally. Coaches built a system that would allow their natural ability to shine.

Now with Haaland as the big example here, he makes the same runs, the same movements all the time cos that’s how Pep wants him to do them hence, he cannot freelance using his natural ability. If he does, Pep is onto him like a rash. Sad.

OK I understand with klopp after the interview and understanding his reasons. and to say he will never coach another club in England. Not work with another club team or national side for the next 12 months. . but could I ask the eds why then does ljinders and several of the backroom staff go too? That doesn't sit right sorry. Don't for a second want ljinders to take over but why is he not stickying around. Do you think the next manager is already lined up to take over with his own backroom staff? If the owners were told in November they have had 3 months to do so.

Magico1234

{Ed001's Note - why would they stay? They rarely do these days. I think you are a bit stuck in the 70s mate.}

1.) 26 Jan 2024 13:23:00
Maybe I am mate haha. But obviously ljinders wasn't offered the position to succeed klopp as previously thought by some supporters. Would you think the owners have the position in hand then.

{Ed001's Note - I would hope so, but it is more likely that the announcement was to head off a leak.}

2.) 26 Jan 2024 14:01:13
Indeed, Ed01. I read the same thing as well that a replacement may already be lined up if the rest of Klopp's crew are leaving as well. Hoping this is the case.

@Magico, chill man. A bit OTT, don't you think?

3.) 26 Jan 2024 14:36:11
With Schmadtke leaving at the end of Jan now as well, although expected at some point, it seems like there's some kind of plan in place.

I'd hoped it had maybe all been done behind closed doors before the announcement but Xabi's comments suggest he hasn't committed to anything although he could be playing coy ;)

4.) 26 Jan 2024 15:45:03
Xabi is hardly going to say he’s joining Liverpool in the position he’s in at the moment.

5.) 26 Jan 2024 16:21:09
Julian Nagelsmann contract with Germany only runs until July 2024. Could be something there.

{Ed002's Note - No, Klopp will want some time off.}

6.) 26 Jan 2024 17:22:10
What part of my post was OTT?

7.) 26 Jan 2024 21:28:12
I meant the other way around Ed, JN potentially to LFC.

{Ed002's Note - I would expect him to be considered.}

Ed’s can this ploy that Real Madrid seem to be up to these days, making it aware they want players when their contract is up in years time, not called tapping up? And if it’s ok for them could other teams do it? Or is the prem more regulated than laliga.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Plenty of eams do it.}

If the club are seriously allowing this to happen, we are in serious trouble and the freefall is just starting. No disrespect to slot and hope it doesn't happen but it's looking like brenden after suarez left.

Some 1 mentioned Harvey elliot. How has he not got in this England team. Much better player than Gallagher alone, and probably offer more than foden so far too.

It going to blow smoke up his arse, Thiago was an absolute terrible signing for us to make, big money injury prone to high heaven. Hope we never make a transfer like that again, leave the old so called superstars to the likes of United.

England will beat the Swiss, that’s not getting carried away either. England have been dire so far and the Swiss have been a joy to watch but I still think England will knock them out. Sat watching France…. they ain’t much kop either.

Couldn’t agree more WYred, where’s the great Dutch, Brazilians Germans ect…and it’s just not international teams, the premier league is the same also. Remember Thierry Henry, bergkamp gerrard, drogba ect…. there are zero players of any character anymore. Winning for your country used to be the pinnacle for players and watching this euros I’ve only see ally seen Austria Germany and Portugal who look like they’re playing for the country’s. Forget England, we must have some of the most overrated players in world football. For all those going we have an amazing squad and this is our best chance……the current crop are not a patch on what we’ve had the last 30 ish years.

Southgate is absolutely clueless. Thought Trent was ok, but that’s about it, where is he supposed to be playing? Put him on the right wing Gareth you Bell. The worst player on the pitch is foden by a country mile…… he isn’t going to make it at international level…. might be a star playing in a city team of stars but not for england, I’d sooner see Cole palmer or eze there…. even party boy grealish is better than him at this level. Best England team ever they say…. what a joke. Go 3 -5-2.
