2 weeks to go boys.
Hopefully we'll get another couple of new guys in. fingers crossed.
Saul or bissouma and someone versatile for upfront 3 positions. Would be excellent please.
Man u and City and Chelsea are doing good business so we have to try also.

Magico1234

{Ed0666's Note - who have man city & Chelsea bought?

1.) 31 Jul 2021 19:10:47
No one. But soon to be Grealish for City and Kounde for Chelsea.

2.) 31 Jul 2021 19:22:15
City will buy Grealish and chelsea will buy Kounde.

3.) 31 Jul 2021 20:58:53
And we've bought konate and all the eds are confident we will buy 2 more players with a month left of the transfer window left so relax.

4.) 31 Jul 2021 22:09:48
This squad won the league 2 seasons ago would have been dam close and personally think would have won it last season if it where not for the injuries in def, stop worrying about other clubs who know they have to catch up. As for city they will always spend every year regardless of whether they win or not. We have brought in a top defender and have PL and CL winners in all positions calm down and have faith in the lads and stop pining for shiny new toys every day what will be will be, trust the club and staff.

5.) 31 Jul 2021 23:15:46
Chelsea and city will buy who they want wait for it.

6.) 01 Aug 2021 00:11:08
They're hardly going to buy somebody they don't want, are they?
The way City are going even their reserves will all be £50 million players.

7.) 01 Aug 2021 00:50:01
“This squad won the league 2 seasons”

Yes, that was two seasons ago, not now. We were. It even close last year and we’ve lost a crucial member of the title winning side and others have been strengthening quite considerably during that time.

Times actually change, believe it or not.

8.) 01 Aug 2021 07:39:51
Come on mate, Gini was a squad player who played a lot of games because of injuries. Keita Fabinho and Thiago were all bought in to be playing ahead of him.
Let Klopp decide in the next week if he needs to act. Hendo Fab and Thiago backed up by Keita, Milner and Jones does look weak in the holding role, but he could revert to 3 at the back in some games.
I would be happy with a fit back 3 of Virgil Konate and Joe playing a high line against any team.
I believe fans are getting carried away because United, City and Chelsea can spend more than us, but that as been the case for ten years.
I trust Klopp to keep us competitive, plus the deals that we have done in the last 5 yrs, gives me faith that we will buy the right players, so we can keep challenging for trophies.
Believe boys.

9.) 01 Aug 2021 07:53:31
But that’s the problem. Squad player or not Wiji played the most games under Klopps management, so if he’s gone who’s going to replace the injured midfielders when they are out. The only 3 things in life that are certain are death, taxes and our first choice midfielders being injured at some point in the season or worst case all at the same time. Hendo, Fab and Thiago missed 49 league games between them last season. Are Ox and Kieta robust enough to be relied upon.

{Ed0666's Note - we’ll get a midfielder fella I’m sure of it.

10.) 01 Aug 2021 08:07:37
Please stop boring us with the same posts. gini this, gini that. BORING.

11.) 01 Aug 2021 09:15:24
Marty who’s that aimed at?

12.) 01 Aug 2021 09:16:35
Wijnaldum was just brought in as squad filler. He was brought in with a specific role in mind which he did very well for the vast majority of his time. The fact that he played almost every game is testament to that. To believe that he shouldn’t be replaced or that we have enough quality in depth is naive at best. It’s evident that we don’t or we wouldn’t have struggled so badly last season when Henderson and Fabinho were missing in midfield.

13.) 01 Aug 2021 10:20:12
JK23 No one in particular mate, just a little tired of the same conversations again again. Got to move on at some point.

14.) 01 Aug 2021 10:11:48
Gini was a squad player? What squad player do you know if that played the amount of games Gini started/ played over his 5 year tenure at Liverpool? I have no idea where that notion came from cos I do not believe any of it is true. Unthinkable the only player to have played more games than Gini under Klopp is Bobbie so where is all this stuff about Gini being a squad player/ filler coming from? That said, we need a midfielder ad dare I say it, even more than a forward even tho, getting both will be most ideal.

15.) 01 Aug 2021 13:07:56
VVVV read my post fully I said when fit our squad was far from fit and we still finished 3rd! Have faith in the guy and the players that delivered a title for the first time in 30 years and stop being so negative!

19 May 2021 12:42:37
Eds. in your opinion are there any players coming to end of their careers who have 1 move left in them with the experience of james milner who are approachable and help bond the team for future 3 or 4 years.
Cheers.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not, as far as I am aware, looking to buy players close to retirement.}

1.) 19 May 2021 13:32:21
Lewandowski?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool approach for him.}

2.) 19 May 2021 13:36:03
Nor should we be. We have enough experience in the team as it is, what we need are some fresh legs and emboldened young talent.

3.) 19 May 2021 13:53:53
I saw rumours of Aaron Ramsey at €10m. He is very injury prone though and i'm not sure he's an exemplary role model like Milner. Would be ridiculous to sign him on top on Keita and Ox who have their own fitness issues either way.

I think we have the older statesmen in Henderson, Milner and Thiago. Milner isn't going to leave this summer. I'm baffled people think he will when he basically said the other year he wants to finish his career here and then get into coaching at Liverpool.

We need to get rid of Keita and Gini. Let Jones replace Keita, and then look to sign a young replacement for Wijnaldum. De Paul, Nehaus, Bissouma etc. Whoever signs needs to know they're not walking into the team. Hendo is captain, Fabinho is probably world class and Thiago is definitely world class.

4.) 19 May 2021 14:14:25
I would slightly disagree with AW and Adam. If Lewa were available and affordable (both in terms of fee and wages) I would be delighted to have him here.

Still the best striker in the world (debatable, but my view) and I would be happy spending £5-£10m on an even younger striker who could learn (if we don't have players like that already in the academy) to groom in Lewa's mould.

I would say he has at least 2-3 years left at the very top level and he would be awesome!

{Ed0666's Note - you really think FSG would bring in Lewa?

5.) 19 May 2021 14:29:05
I’m with you Anonymous Woolback. Although I would make an exception for Lewandowsi.

6.) 19 May 2021 15:52:35
Ed0666, probably not but it doesn't hurt to dream!

{Ed0666's Note - theres dreams and then theres wild fantasies mate 😂

7.) 19 May 2021 16:07:21
depends a lot on Klopp what he wants, after all Thiago was bought for 25M W/ o any resale value so was Milner and was made our highest earner at that time.

8.) 19 May 2021 16:18:29
Lewandowski is one of the only players i'd make an exception for. The other being Benzema. Both seem well beyond the realms of realistic though.

9.) 19 May 2021 16:36:10
I wouldn’t want Benzema anywhere near the team. Great player, horrible human.

10.) 19 May 2021 16:36:14
Benzema is a great player but a bit of a dodgy character!

11.) 19 May 2021 16:42:58
Lewandowski looked absolutely pedestrian a couple of years ago against Van Dijk and Matip. Waste of money to bring him in, IMO.
No chance.

12.) 19 May 2021 17:12:59
I’d take him without question. Put him in your minds, in place of Bobby or Mane this season, the chances they’ve had but missed. Imagine Lewa in those places. Add 20 goals to ours and probably 21 points even without VVD, and the lengthy important injured players.

13.) 19 May 2021 18:27:21
Benzema is a very unselfish player on the pitch though so we wouldn't even need to play a different style. Can't say i know anything about him away from the pitch as i don't really follow the celebrity side of the game. Either way there is zero chance of us signing him or Lewandowski in my opinion so i'd rather look to the future.

19 May 2021 12:37:56
What happens if both us and Leicester win our remaining games. both end on 69 points, exact same goal difference somehow. Does it go off goals for? .
Obviously taking Chelsea win their last game.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - Goals scored.}

1.) 19 May 2021 13:30:52
Goals scored and then head to head.

As the head to head is in our favour (3-1 at KP 3-0 at Anfield) there would not be a play off and we would get 4th.

{Ed002's Note - The clubs would be equal fourth but Liverpool would qualify for the CL.}

2.) 19 May 2021 13:58:29
This is why, despite preferring a Leicester win last night, once Chelsea were 2-0 up I hoped for a heavy defeat for Leicester to damage their GD. The narrow one goal margin last night means there is only one goal between us and Leicester on GD at the moment and they have scored more goals than us so would finish above us if points and GD were level. With that in mind, there is still a small risk that we could win our remaining two matches by just one goal margins, and Leicester could then beat Tottenham by a 3 goal margin and finish above us.

3.) 19 May 2021 14:16:21
I'm with you RR, I wanted a Chelsea masterclass once it was clear that Leicester weren't offering much threat. We need at least 2 if not a 3 goal margin against Burnley - which will be VERY VERY tough given the way Dyche sets his teams up and the fact they have a crowd in.

4.) 19 May 2021 14:19:25
Ideally with a Salah hattrick as he is my captain this week!

5.) 19 May 2021 18:34:19
I wouldn’t put money on Leicester getting a 3-0 win against Spurs. Not that they are not capable of getting a result like that normally but there is a difference between getting a result like that on a normal match day but when the pressure is on, you know you need to go out and win 3-0 (at least), when the opposition know exactly that your going to attack to get a big win and set up to stop you, I think it’s a lot different. I mean they knew they kind of needed to win yesterday and got absolutely rattled.
Even still hopefully we will smash Burnley 7-0 and then palace the same. Lol.

19 May 2021 06:59:58
Massive game tonight. no slip up lads. COME ON.

Magico1234

1.) 19 May 2021 07:22:08
Yep it’s over to us now. Am predicting 90 mins of heart failure. Tonight is going to be a really hard game as Burnley will have fans back in the ground which will lift them.

2.) 19 May 2021 08:42:04
Valium and Prozac at the ready lad's.

3.) 19 May 2021 10:31:31
Don't let it worry you. Relax, sit back with a beer and chill knowing we will do it ;) . I have started watching again and I have no doubts about tonight, I think 2-0 to us.

4.) 19 May 2021 10:47:22
"Win or Go home" comes to mind here.

5.) 19 May 2021 11:45:20
Beers will be flowing tonight either way. hopefully in joy not bitterness.

6.) 19 May 2021 12:46:20
How many tonight Salah?

18 May 2021 20:14:03
What score we reckon Chelsea v Leicester and which would be better.

Magico1234

{Ed0666's Note - I would like a draw

1.) 18 May 2021 20:20:42
0-0 with a mass brawl and 4 red cards on either side; Iheanacho, Vardy, Ndidi, Schmeichel, Mount, Mendy, Thiago and Kante.

2.) 18 May 2021 20:28:07
a leicester 1 nil win?

3.) 18 May 2021 20:35:16
Warner looks like an ANGRY BIRD :)

4.) 18 May 2021 21:08:00
Correct me if i’m wrong but if Leicester win then we might only need 4 points from the last two depending on goal difference.

5.) 18 May 2021 21:10:40
Draw would be the best result for us but how did VAR look at that foul on Werner and not give it. At this point I don’t know what a foul is anymore.

6.) 18 May 2021 21:12:24
I don’t know but the standard of refereeing from Mike Dean is atrocious. The only thing worse is the standard of Werner’s finishing.

7.) 18 May 2021 21:14:41
There’s no way Chelsea aren’t going to score second half. There battering Leicester!

8.) 18 May 2021 21:20:23
Imo Alonso it was very calculated from Werner to throw himself in the way of his swinging foot and that does not constitute a foul, nor is it a dive either. Something we call in my Logical Theory module the ‘Match of the Day Fallacy’.

We need to reel back on this idea that any contact is a foul and that football is not a contact sport. A foul is a clear and calculated obstruction not any contact on any player ever.

9.) 18 May 2021 21:24:39
Chelsea have battered them to be fair. Leicester been on the lash.

10.) 18 May 2021 21:43:50
Now it's 2-0. Chelsea might as well score 5, that is beat for us now.

{Ed014's Note - the more the merrier now, you win your two and it will be goal difference over them provided they beat Spurs.

This puts you in the driving seat surely!

11.) 18 May 2021 21:44:22
Now we could do with another 2-3 Chelsea goals, or a quickfire double from Leicester! Ideally a hattrick in the last 20 mins by Ineacho off the bench as he's on my fantasy team!

12.) 18 May 2021 21:46:26
Can’t see Spurs laying a glove of Leicester at the weekend and Villa will have their flip flops on against Chelsea. Relying on results is never the way forward. It’s Thursday football, don’t bank on the owners taking any action to get us back to the top either.

{Ed0666's Note - welcome angel of doom

13.) 18 May 2021 21:53:06
@Magico1234. The way they have played anyone would think their top four hopes don’t hang in the balance.

@Anonymous Woolback. I still think that was a penalty. Also I have seen those given this season and therein lies the problem.

14.) 18 May 2021 20:33:23
Mk could be right mate. getting a bit heated.

15.) 18 May 2021 22:16:00
Oh VVVV, give it a rest!

So many people have said that Spurs still have a European place to play for plus Mr Selfish wanting to sign off with the golden boot.

Leicester will at best draw at Spurs, so the ball is definitely in our court.

I'm very confident we will see through these last 2 games and get into the UCL.

{Ed014's Note - why is that guy so negative, it’s painful! 🤦‍♂️

16.) 18 May 2021 22:21:11
Considering the enormity of the game i think Leicester may have just put in one of the worst performances i’ve ever seen. I couldn’t tell you a single thing they did right. To sit back and just let Chelsea batter you and still defend appallingly was a baffling strategy, as it was to play Iheanacho over Vardy whose legs have clearly gone. Can’t remember a single chance they created themselves apart from the Perez one at the end, the odd time they got in the opposition half they just tried to lump it aimlessly to their sole striker.

Utterly embarrassing. Classic Brendan.

17.) 18 May 2021 22:30:28
Vic the ball is in our court anyway. Win our last 2 and we are almost certain to be in the top 4.
Even if we only win our 2 games by 1 goal each we are on +23 goal difference. Leicester are currently on +20 so will need to beat Spurs by 3 goals to finish above us.
As bad as Spurs have been I can’t see them losing by 3 goals.

18.) 18 May 2021 22:33:52
Some reason I think VVVV is 6times. why always negative man it’s in our hand, and Spurs need some sought of European football to attract players and get some revenue in.

19.) 18 May 2021 22:39:36
Werner did what Lamela did to Virgil at Anfield 3 seasons ago to win a last min pen initiating contact to win a foul. Should never be given. But i've said it before neither side can complain because they both do it. On another note, Madison was SHOCKING tonight. Leicester win or a draw would have been best. Now it goes down to Sunday if we win. Can still lose this on GD to Leicester.

20.) 18 May 2021 22:40:15
Think villa will show up for their fans. can't see Chelsea beating them with the CL final to play.

21.) 18 May 2021 23:35:10
Redflyer I get what you mean comparing it to Virgil. The difference for me is that Virgil pulled out of the challenge and made minimal contact and Lamela threw himself to the floor. Also Lamela was never going to be in control of the ball he merely put his body in front of Virgil to take contact and go down.
The one today was different. Werner put his leg between man and ball and had he not been clattered from behind would’ve been in full control of the ball. Also the defender kicked right through his leg with force. Werner did nothing wrong you are allowed to shield the ball and if your leg is kicked away from you it’s a foul.
To be fair to Mike Dean (which is difficult as he is a shocking referee) he did give exactly the same decision against Mane on Sunday when he shielded the ball and got kicked so at least there’s a little bit of consistency in his decision making.

22.) 19 May 2021 03:31:05
BP, Werner planted his foot and made no attempt to touch the ball imo. It's unfortunately the way the game has gone. Chelsea were about as bad as PSG the last 20 mins.

23.) 19 May 2021 07:01:27
No games easy in the PL. that's what makes it so good. Not many teams roll over, even with nothing to play for. Look at Fulham and Brighton last night.
Take care of Burnley tonight and head into the weekend with a good opportunity.

24.) 19 May 2021 08:13:26
We need two big wins, enough to give us goal difference that Leicester can’t catch up with us, any win takes us above them, a win by 3 or 4 goals tonight and any kind of win against Palace at the weekend will do. Then that takes it out of their hands.

25.) 19 May 2021 08:41:30
It'll go to head to head with Leicester.

3-1 and 3-0.

Ed 2. couldn't care less whether they care about liverpool fans. That valuation and offer is nothing short of a joke. Shaq is easily a 15-25m pound player easily. Always different when we are in forone of theirs. Tell them to fook off. End of.

Magico1234

{Ed002's Note - That is the attitude that results in Liverpool not being able to sell players and Klopp not getting the players he really wants.}

Evans was a great manager and a really likeable person. Had a great team but as the Ed says. the defence and agree on James being terrible for us. If only he could of sorted that defence. But the worst bit was when houllier came in to work with him. How must roy of felt then.

Agreed. Thought the midfield excellent yesterday. Gini was a ever ready type player for us and gave us some quality memories, but in my opinion we could cope without him with elliot coming through. Disaster for the lad, im really gutted. Time for keita or Jones to step up now. Hope the ox gets better in his new position. probably take time but hopefully he'll take the chance.
