Is thiago definitely out?

1.) 24 May 2022 17:10:05
Don't know but I doubt he will be in 1st 11 magico mate. Klopp is always positive when it comes to injuries but even he wasn't sure if Thiago could be ready for Madrid.

2.) 24 May 2022 17:25:12
Thiago would be a huge loss for Saturday. Modric and Kroos prove that class isn’t always about age and legs and whilst we might have the legs on their midfield we’ll miss Thiagos class ability if he isn’t available.

3.) 24 May 2022 18:03:18
Klopp has a tendency to require at least 2 full training sessions before putting in a player, returning from injury, into the game roster. So I guess a lot depends on what happens Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I doubt he will start even if fit. What is even more worrisome is new doubts about whether Fabinho will start.

{Ed0666's Note - if Thiago and Fab aren’t fit we have gone from favourites to underdogs

4.) 24 May 2022 19:22:40
ArAy mate. man I wish I hadn't asked. If fab and thiago are out we are screwed big time. Hendo milly and keita then. Nabby needs to have the game of his life if he plays. No problems with hendo or milly, they always a steady 8/ 10 in most games. Thankfully there is time for fab yet, I'm guessing thiago won't make it.

5.) 24 May 2022 18:23:06
I agree, 0666.
And can we afford to start either of them in case they break down early doors?
It's not as though the front 3,4 or 5 are on fire either.

{Ed0666's Note - I concur mate. Can’t start two players in a game of this magnitude that are not 100% fit. I hope the physio’s can earn their corn in the next couple of days.

6.) 24 May 2022 20:01:35
Your right Ed if those 2 ain't fit we are in big trouble but I'm confident that Fab will be ok👍.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m more praying than hopeful mate

7.) 24 May 2022 20:48:53
Agree Barry, said it yesterday - I think Fab will play and Thiago won’t.

8.) 24 May 2022 20:49:26
If Thiago and Fabinho are not fit to start, it'll have to be Henderson, Keita and Jones with Milner coming on. If it is those three I wouldn't be confident at all.
We might have more chance of getting away with it if Salah and Jota were firing with the option of Diaz running them ragged for the last twenty minutes.
The midfield is down to the bare bones and I think we need more from the attacking players.

9.) 24 May 2022 20:57:29
Apparently we were screwed big time against Barcelona too.
Just that Klopp and the players didn't buy into that.
There'll be plenty of rumours between now and Saturday about players "definitely being out", and within hours the same players "will definitely be available".
If it doesn't come from Klopp or an official club source it isn't really worth paying attention to it. Klopp and his staff are the only ones that know for sure, and everyone else is just guessing.

04 May 2022 22:43:28
Madrid it is
. come on reds

28 Mar 2022 16:32:56
Hi just out of interest. IF mane and bobby are sold this summer and salah walks away. Who would be your chosen attackers. Diaz would take manes spot obviously.

1.) 28 Mar 2022 16:44:30
Klopp won't sell all three in one go. Not a chance. ideally, Salah should stay and the other two should depart.
As for incoming, Darwin Nunez to play up top, Carvalho and Diaz fight for the left spot, Jota and Nunez to play up top and I wouldn't mind adding a Right-winger as well. Can't find too many good right-wingers out there. Raph won't happen.
If those three depart in one go then we are well and truly ducked.

2.) 28 Mar 2022 17:15:41
Well Diaz and Jota will play. So one more to make a 3.

Unrealistic: Mbappe
My personal choice: Ocampos
Realistic choice: Bowen.

3.) 28 Mar 2022 18:13:26
Genuine question.

How much would West Ham demand for Bowen. Not really sure how long he has left on his contract but he’s English so will come with that premium. They’ve already said they want 150 mill for Rice.

I think he would cost more than what we would get for Salah or Mane if we were to sell one or either due to them only having 12 months left. I suppose the saving grace would be he wouldn’t be asking for 500k a week.

Personally I’d imagine Money men and Klopp might go for a cheaper European club option (like Diaz and Salah) over 80-100 mill Bowen. Only my thoughts though.

4.) 28 Mar 2022 18:59:29
Rice has a premium price tag though because he's 4 years younger and a full international. I reckon Bowen would still be about £70-80m though because he's probably going to finish this season with well over 30 g/ a in all competitions, injury permitting.

I do agree with you on the whole. There might be better value abroad. I'd seriously consider Ocampos of Sevilla if it were my decision. He's helping them to a possible top 2 finish in La Liga this season. People won't like the suggestion though because he is more of a 10-15 goal a season player and there seems to be some weird hang up on our next wingers scoring as many as Mane and Salah, despite Jota being completely different to Firmino and fully capable of scoring 30 a season. I do trust our scouts if they like Bowen, but yeah. Sure to be expensive!

5.) 28 Mar 2022 19:57:09
OP, I do not think for one second that Mane and Bobbie are getting sold this summer. If Salah gets sold then this summer to get a fee for him then, it’s almost nailed on that neither are being sold, IMO.

We are interested in Raphinha and are linked to Bowen but I do not see both being signed. Prolly just one and I would prefer Raphinha cos Bowen although well improved, will command a hefty fee cos WH don’t need to sell and of course, can’t forget the famed English Tax.

6.) 28 Mar 2022 20:40:19
Good post Oli. Agree on the Mane, Bobby and Salah sutuation. I personally don't know if I rate Raphinha though. It's a weird one but i feel he is another Zaha. His numbers this season are propped up by penalties in spite of the fact he's had the 4th most shots of every player in the Premier League. I can't work out if he's trying too hard to be the difference or if he just thinks he's better than he is. Every time i've watched Leeds he's taken on shots from too far out or when there wasn't a gap for the shot. It wastes possession in good areas and he's not scoring enough from open play to justify how wasteful he is.

7.) 28 Mar 2022 20:57:05
We've been linked with Antony, of Ajax Amsterdam, too, for the right winger's position. He's been playing instead of Raphina, of late, in the Brazil team too. So another one to consider.

8.) 28 Mar 2022 20:58:20
Bowen would come in. Klopp will push as far as he can. We will stump all the money form Salah on him. He reminds me of Lallana. just hope he doesn’t turn out like him.

9.) 28 Mar 2022 22:49:35
Don’t get me wrong I’m not against Bowen coming In and our transfer team and Klopp have more often than not got it right than wrong where as in the past we got it wrong more often than right.

FSG are savvy business men though and I cannot see them stumping up what would potentially be a record signing for LFC on an uncapped English international who has has 1 excellent stand out season in the Premier league. I might be barking up the wrong tree though and be completely wrong.

I listened to a good pod cast on the front 3 earlier whilst out in my dog walk and they were saying that if anyone was to be sold for a fee it would be Salah where as with Mane and Bobby if one wasn’t to be offered a contract then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see 1 of them be allowed to see out their contact and leave on a free like FSG allowed Can and Wiji too. Said along the lines of having them for that extra year outweighs what we would receive in a transfer fee in the current market and maybe makes no sense to extend both of them for a few more years.

They said there’s no chance FSG allow Salah to run his contract down though. I thought it was quite interesting and I suppose we could have looked to sell Wiji for 20-40 mill rather than allow his contract to run down.

10.) 28 Mar 2022 23:20:15
How much would we have had to pay for Diaz if he was English?
A damned sight more than we did.
FSG won't be paying over the odds for home grown players while the same quality of player is available outside the UK at far more reasonable prices.
I'd love to see what Klopp could do with Bowen, but it's highly unlikely he'll end up here.

11.) 29 Mar 2022 09:14:42
Harry, what have you got against Lallana? Before he got injured and we signed Fabinho he was arguably our best midfielder under Klopp. He was the trigger man for the high press, and scored some huge goals. Yes he was shocking in his 1st year under Rodgers (because he tried to use him as a left winger) but Lallana was a much loved member of our squad in the end, as well as a good leader on and off the pitch, who helped us to the Champions League and Premier League.

If he hadn't had so many injuries, he'd have played a lot more games in his last few years. I don't get why you take every opportunity to have a pop at our players sometimes. Lallana wasn't world class but he played his part and helped us get back onto our perch. For that the least we could do is show him some respect.

19 Feb 2022 19:02:35
Come on spurs.

{Ed014's Note - come on City! 😉😂

1.) 19 Feb 2022 19:19:55
Here we go again.

{Ed0666's Note - yep

2.) 19 Feb 2022 19:23:48
Looked at Sky Sports news app 10 mins ago and it was 3-1 Spurs. Just gone on there again and it’s 2-2.

Football is a funny old game.

{Ed0666's Note - look at your app again mate

3.) 19 Feb 2022 19:27:34
It…Just…. Got…. Interesting…….

4.) 19 Feb 2022 19:29:42
Harry kane show.
Come onnnn.
Write the league off at your peril.

5.) 19 Feb 2022 19:33:32
We really can’t afford to drop any more points and we have to punish city when they drop them. It’s theirs to lose still, but we did our job. And I’m betting Pep is regretting not signing Kane right now lmfao.

6.) 19 Feb 2022 19:33:47
Holy Flock, Now it's going to get really interesting, best League in the world, can't wait for every game.

7.) 19 Feb 2022 19:29:20
Ed0666 🤣 mental. The mrs wouldn’t let me watch it as I had the Norwich game on earlier.

She’s lucky she’s not a cat otherwise I’d Kurt Zouma her around the living room.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not sure we’re in 1978 anymore JK23

8.) 19 Feb 2022 19:32:18
Hurrykane at the etihad.

9.) 19 Feb 2022 19:36:51
Well I still maintain a respectable 3rd place finish this season. This result just goes to show we have the second best league in the world 😉.

10.) 19 Feb 2022 19:45:51
Whatever your smoking negativo, please pass it this way!

11.) 19 Feb 2022 19:48:15
I know you're joking JK23, but not really an appropriate comment whichever way you look at it.

12.) 19 Feb 2022 19:42:29
I said they would cause problems but I didn't expect the win. The race is on and it's in our hands, can't ask for more then that at this stage.

1 step at a time but the dream is alive!

{Ed0666's Note - I still don’t understand how teams haven’t woken up to the ball into Kane with his back to the opposition half he reverses it to Son on the outside right and son/or another plays it into the middle and chance created/goal scored. It’s simple but devastating

13.) 19 Feb 2022 19:55:13
Neggie, you show disturbing signs of masochism for oncoming abuse.

14.) 19 Feb 2022 20:02:27
Chill baked bean. its a joke. According to the eds a lot of stuff you say is inappropriate and doesn't get posted. so.

15.) 19 Feb 2022 19:58:37
It's city's kryptonite 666.

16.) 19 Feb 2022 20:10:56
Joke about the dead but don't joke about a cat😆.

17.) 19 Feb 2022 20:13:03
ArAy1969 genuine story my Dr said I was perfectly normal way back in 95.
Funnily enough he retired soon after that appointment.
Mother always said it wasn't my fault and he just needed a break.
As for masochism I am game to dance if there's a willing partner.

18.) 19 Feb 2022 20:19:52
Jk. that was funny mate.
Well played wyred I said 3 nil to city. what a result for us. Match of the day tonight lads
Come on lads.

19.) 19 Feb 2022 20:19:53
Apologies everyone didn’t mean to cause offence.

I’ve not felt this bad since realising I wasn’t using energy saving lightbulbs and people were gluing their faces to the motorway.

20.) 19 Feb 2022 20:33:39
You didn't JK mate, it was a joke that's all.

21.) 19 Feb 2022 21:42:55
Neggie. Dance? Let's not, but you can say we did, if that makes you feel better. You're unusually quiet about Arsenal, in recent times.

22.) 20 Feb 2022 08:03:26
Ed666, Kane and Son are City’s nemesis and that signature move by Kane is what he does all the time vs City but for some reason, “The greatest manager the world has ever seen” seems to not be able to figure it. As for the title, deal with Leeds first and then we can talk.

{Ed0666's Note - it’s in our own hands and if you’d have said that to me last week I’d have given you some medication. Can we beat Leeds yes? Can we beat City at their own ground in front of their supporter? I think so brother. This movie has a long way to go yet irrespective of what happens on Wednesday. Apparently Son & Kane are statistically the most statistically successful partnership in PL history so no one has worked em

23.) 20 Feb 2022 09:51:56
Because it wasn't football related MartyMcFly. This isn't either, it's a joke about spousal and animal abuse based loosely on a football subject Neither abuse is funny.

24.) 20 Feb 2022 15:11:39
Get over it baked. sense of humour and all that.

25.) 20 Feb 2022 16:45:34
Baked. zzzzzz move on. Trying to take the moral high ground to make an ego based point.

16 Feb 2022 13:05:18
Excited for tonight. hope we put on a show and get the job done or set up for 2nd leg back home. will be a lot harder than city had lastnight though.

1.) 16 Feb 2022 13:52:58
Agreed but the way everyone is ranting on about how perfect city are is hilarious. We done over Porto in a first leg are scoreline and there was far less noise. No away goals so we need to win and draw against inter which is achievable IMO. They won't have barella but they still have a dangerous team. We can't give them chances like we gave Burnley.

2.) 16 Feb 2022 14:13:56
We didn’t give Burnley many chances at all RedScarface, almost all of them were offside. Sounds like you’re being sucked into the same nonsensical media hysteria that applies to City as you have astutely observed!

Question for everyone, what do we think our starting XI will be? I never normally care about predicting starting lineups but our squad is so strong and definitely undergoing a transitional phase. Everyone expects Klopp to pick his ‘best team’ but does anyone, including Klopp himself, actually know what that team is?

I think for me i’d choose:

van Dijk

I think Henderson has been unacceptably poor of late and definitely needs a rest. Contrastingly, I really do think Elliott is ready and i think it would be a huge yet appropriate statement to trust him for this game. I wouldn’t feel at risk with him in the side at all. Thiago’s experience and class on the ball will be very important in a high pressure champions league match. Matip hasn’t been very good of late and while you could argue Konate may not be ready also, he did bully Ibrahimovic against AC, so maybe another slow paced italian side would see him exert similar dominance. Mane has just come back from AFCON on a high and looked okay at the weekend, so i’d be looking to capitalise on him coming back on a high and his pace against a slow Italian defence. I did consider whether i’d want Firmino starting to keep possession, but he too has looked out of sorts recently and if we’re talking about Liverpools best team, he isn’t in it on current form. You can’t ignore Jota’s scoring record, his pace and directness will terrify a stiff Italian defence, even if he does cough up possession a lot. Salah picks himself. Diaz off the bench second half will be a frightening proposition for them.

I really hope Klopp doesn’t p. about with the likes of Keita, Milner and Ox, i think we’ve seen quite enough of that in the biggest games this season. Time to play all the big guns and see what a wholly in form XI can do.

3.) 16 Feb 2022 15:25:59
A chance is still a chance even if they were offside. A better striker timing runs will damage us. inter have much better strikers than Burnley. fact not hype.

4.) 16 Feb 2022 15:42:54
Spot on AW.

5.) 16 Feb 2022 15:26:54
Hendo will play because experience is needed but I would prefer elliot in there as he will be an unknown quantity for inter.

6.) 16 Feb 2022 16:19:30
"A chance is still a chance even if they were offside. " RedScarface, does that mean a goal is still a goal even if they were offside?

7.) 16 Feb 2022 16:20:13
How is a chance still a chance if they were offside? That makes no sense.

8.) 16 Feb 2022 17:34:17
It's like Ed001 always used to say regarding Skrtel and his last ditch tackles vs. Alonso who was positionally excellent. Our defensive line allows us to catch people offside we don't have to make tackles, that's what being good positionally allows you to do, avoid making tackles.

9.) 16 Feb 2022 17:37:00
For most teams not beginning with Liver pretty much so yes storm 🤣.

10.) 16 Feb 2022 17:57:25
We'll beat them tonight I reckon. Being decent in Italian league is being mid table in prem at the most. Hendo fab and thiago midfield. Hendo doesn't let us down in big games for me. Harvey as sub later on. If keita starts. scrap that.
Luiz in for mane? Jota upfront I hope, bobby is done.

11.) 16 Feb 2022 18:48:13
Woolback: great call on that team selection! Did you and Klopp discuss it over breakfast this morning?

12.) 16 Feb 2022 18:53:32
Got side spot on AW. Fair play to you.

13.) 16 Feb 2022 18:56:37
Woolback any 6 numbers between 1 and 50 when ready.

14.) 16 Feb 2022 18:58:46
Wow, I actually called it. Glad Klopp agrees with me, as we all know great minds think alike.

Buzzing for this one, up the Reds.

15.) 16 Feb 2022 18:59:47
Hendo isn’t playing @Resscarf and rightly so. He doesn’t feature in our best midfield.

16.) 16 Feb 2022 21:00:20
Henderson picked up an injury the other day, he was always going to be 50/ 50 for tonight.

17.) 16 Feb 2022 21:37:24
"Bobby is done" - hahahahaha, looks like Bobby didn't read the script.

18.) 16 Feb 2022 22:06:17

19.) 17 Feb 2022 11:40:45
Redscarface, I see what you did there with the “a chance us still a chance even if it is offside” thingy. Funny. Until the Burnley game, I had never heard of a chance clearly ruled out for offside was considered a chance and that we were unlucky not to lose. I mean, lose due to goals ruled out for offside? Now, that took the biscuit for me on MOTD.

20.) 17 Feb 2022 12:40:30
I don't think Bobby is done, I just thinking his head is still playing like he did 3 seasons ago but his body isn't up to that now, we've seen his best days, if it was my choice i'd be using his wage to keep Salah no question.

21.) 17 Feb 2022 15:22:09
Lancastered, I fully agree with you. You can literally see what he is trying do do so the speed of thought is clearly still there. It just seems like the body and the head are out of synch.

Very true ed good point. Are liverpool happy to let salah run down his contract or possibly open to selling him now? . Personally think we are in a win win situation this season. He has to perform well to get a decent move when season ends or if his current form since afcon return continues whos going to be likely to pay him the wages he wants. Hopefully the saka or bowen debate could include other players when the time comes. However I wouldn't be against saka or bowen if klopp wanted either.

I understand what your saying ed about people have different opinions. Not saying sake won't become a brilliant player. then again not saying he will. He has the potential for sure and maybe klopp and out coaches could make him into a beast of a player, just underwhelmed when I watch him for
arsenal and England. Not to say their being coach well off arteta or that buffoon Southgate. Bowen at the moment for me seems the better player. Can we not go and get better from abroad though as both English and either 1 is going to cost a bomb. Replacing salah is massive. Can we find a Diaz for the right?

{Ed0666's Note - Woukdnt you want a player that’s settled in the Prem over a risky foreign player who still has to get to grips with the culture, language country blah blah…for every Suarez there’s a Sanchez I suppose. If we replaced Salah with Saka I’d be made up mate.

Highly overrated player saka. He ain't no sterling that's for sure. No way does he replace mo. Bowen all day.

Totally agree ed. he wants out and we might as well try and push him into going now. Massive loss but that's what the scouting team are for. Who's it to be? Raphina, bowen, dembele, saka, or?

{Ed0666's Note - raphinha for 50-60 mill seems right to me. Talented, prem proven and tonnes of Portuguese speakers at the club to help assimilate. Or Diaby i like also.

If we are buying to replace salah. try moussa diaby or Antony. Both exceptionally talented and young. shrewd investment. Salah has no intentions of signing and think elliot or carvalho will claim salahs spot. Are the club looking to move salah on now?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

I have big hopes for elliot and carvalho. and personally think 1 of those is going to claim his spot. And if his form from the end of the season continues it might be sooner than he thinks. Hopefully not.
