We need a DM more than a new CB, if just one more player to buy, then it should be a DM, a DM who can deputy as a CB, but primarily a DM. A DM that can go straight into the first 11 and give Fabinho a run for his money.

Fabinho was quality at CB. wonder if this would be considered if a DM is signed.

Why can we only buy one more player? Why do this to yourself?

We have to refresh midfield AND central defence. So let's get on with it like a normal club.

I remember Fabinho being pretty poor at CB. Not suited to it at all.

Fabinho was awful at CB, he pushed up too high, stepped forward too often and dived in too much, great when you win the ball but leaves you totally exposed when you don’t. Further to that, we’re now playing the back three system which requires fast mobile defenders, Fabs problem this season has been that he has looked leggy without others around him, playing as a right sided cb is just going to further exploit these deficiencies in his game. If he is playing he plays at DM for me!

Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams improved our defence from when we had Fabinho and Henderson back there.

Somebody else said recently that Fabinho can play left back and a few people said right back. At least he used to play right back previously so that's understandable, however he really isn't suited there, at all.

Let's just hope he can recover some form for defensive midfield and if he's playing as poor as most of last season then hopefully he won't be playing much. He's still young enough to come back but it's already last chance saloon for him at Liverpool.

As much as I like Fabs he bloody wasn’t good at CB. We were much better with Phillips and Williams, two players very likely to take the next steps in their career at championship and league 1 levels respectively. Titus Bramble would have been better at CB than Fabs.

Williams and Phillips were better because Fabinho went back into midfield. So they had some protection, which Fabinho did not have when he was playing at the back. I’m not advocating that Fabinho should play at the back now, by the way. And if he is to continue playing in midfield, he will need Trent playing h the inverted full back alongside him.
