Ed02, are we likely to do any business in January? I know there are rumours of Trinidade if a deal can be done but any other targets or is the summer more likely? Thx.

Don't see what Thuram offers this squad tbh. He's not a DM. After signing Gravenberch and already having Bajcetic on the books, do we really need another midfield project player?

{Ed002's Note - Khephren Thuram (DM/CM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs in the summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs, Liverpool and, in particular, Juventus remains but Liverpool will likely focus on a preferred DM option but will turn back to him if unsuccessful. Interest of Newcastle will likely fall away. If interest further grows his price will rise and the club would sell given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka and an impressive youngster in Reda Belahyane. Nice do not want to sell and again a move to OLd Trafford will not be welcomed by the Nice supporters. Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City, out. Player wants PSG but they have no interest at this time - but his representative is pushing PSG as well as Real Madrid and will encourage the player to wait out the year and see what happens.}

Oh goodie. Just the 9 midfielders for 3 positions then, not including our actual best midfielder who is still in defence for some reason.
Could of done with a little bit of creativity in the middle Vs Utd couldn't we. I wonder who might have been able to provide that from the start? ?
Our midfield has lacked world class creativity since Gerrard and Alonso and he have a player with genuine ability and he's stuck half the game running from midfield to full back positions. Absolute bloody madness.

MacAlistar played much of his time at Brighton in the deep midfielder role. He’s on record as saying his preferred position is the left side of deep lying midfield albeit as part of a double pivot. Not exactly a million miles away from what he’s being asked to do at Liverpool.
