I agree with kloppis topp, no disrespect to Elliot but when he starts we look weak in midfield, and as we never seem to press as a team like we used to, teams aren’t losing the ball up the pitch and have time to pick out passes, we need to drop back 10 yards if not playing this way and then we become more compact and this helps the defence, you can see the pace we have especially Nunez, the opposition come out more giving our players an open running field, that said I do think we need a solid centre midfielder who can break up attacks and set us on attack,

He has also been MOTM in some games, as well as very poor, for example vs Inter.
He is a young player, and perhaps his style / type is not suited to a Klopp side, or he is a rotation player to feature against weaker sides.
If we sign Caicedo and Bellingham, Elliot is going to be competing with very good players. Only time will tell how high his ceiling is.

Elliot has everything to go to the top in my opinion. I just worry he’s going to get caught up and lost playing in midfield. It won’t be long before some fans forget his age and how talented he is and turn on him.

For me we should be playing on the break more
We have plenty of pace up top and at fullback.

I asked ed001 about him yesterday he thinks he just needs time to learn the role. I think he is a bit young for the type of player he is to play cm. I see a lot of the David Silver Bernardo silver and Modric type players in him but none of them was playing cm at his age and none in a league as tough as the premier league.
I think he will turn into a great player but he needs time to develop but I think he needs a stronger midfield round him to come in and out and without the pressure of being a first team starter in cm.

Awk he's a quality player, but is still very young so will have games he is excellent in and some poor ones as well. Imo he needs to play and be given a chance, playing constantly is the only way young players settle and mature - great potential to the kid.

HNY all.
The old idiom of a game being won or lost in midfield still rings true to me.
Our current choices do not suit a consistent style of playing lots of games with an aggressive high press style unfortunately.
It’s ok to say that the forwards aren’t pressing, but it’s because the midfield can’t follow them, in my view.
For the press to work well, the forwards start it but the midfield is the concertina, it needs to work up and then back again if the press is broken.
And ours is limited in its ability to do that game in, game out.

Having said that, you’ve just got to start aggressively and get that first goal, it changes the entire dynamic of the game.
It looked like Klopp had addressed that but then back to square one against Leicester.
We’ve got much the same squad that went to Newcastle last season and dominated them, so they can do it, just need to get revved up and wired in.
And don’t sell Gomez, he’s far too good a footballer for that.

I guess Harvey Elliot is injured or rested next few games
With Chamberlain vacating the left side for Gakpo I have a feeling Henderson wFabinho and Thiago in midfield and leaves us options for Carvalho, Doak and Bajectic to come on as subs when we are 4 - 0 up.

Would it be worth going 4-2-3-1 for the next few? Fabinho Thiago Mo Bobby Gakpo and Darwin? Back 4 Konate in for Matip? Of course all this depends on Bobby being fit and Cody being eligible (not sure he'll be registered for tomorrow) . Just a suggestion.
