I don't think we have the midfield to play a good possession game or a good pressing game. It needs a overhaul but we'll have to wait for the summer.
The defence is also vulnerable when pressed. Maybe because of the midfield?
We are not going to replace the midfield this month. We need to be realistic and hope they can find a way of handling being pressed whilst also pressing.
To me, pressing is not just players running about aimlessly. You go for it when you there's a chance to win back the ball in a worthwhile situation. If you need to be more selective (on older legs), drop off, keep your shape and wait for the opposition to make a mistake.

I’m now taking the ‘set expectations low’ approach in regards to a midfield signing. So expecting someone in the mould of Arthur and if we sign someone decent it’s a bonus. It’s not as if we have had a massive midfield injury crisis that happened just before the winter transfer window opened. Whereby we have no one from the first team available that Klopp and the staff could have anticipated. Midfield issues have been here for years and are now coming to a head this season.

Targets should have been identified for January and negotiated long time ago. If we were/ are serious about Caicedo, we would have already known the price required to prize him away in January and offered Brighton what they want. I hope I’m wrong and in the next week or so we make an offer and he signs. But there is a real possibility that Chelsea might switch their attention to him with the deal for Enzo hitting a impasse. He is everything that we need right now and we go ahead and sign a forward ahead of a midfielder. If both come in then that makes sense but if we end up going through bargain basement for a midfielder due to financial constraints, then Klopp only has himself to blame for not getting his priorities straight.

If we haven't got the legs to press then surely we need to set up more defensively, dare I say it until the end of the season we should veer more towards the turgid football we used to play under Rafa Benitez

We do at least have pace on the counter-attack, so I'm pretty sure we'd pick up much better results than we are doing now.

We just need to sit 20 or so yards deeper and try and let teams push onto us, Nunez wants the space to run into, we need the defense of the opposition to sit higher, if we are deeper then the opposition push up, leaving more space behind.

"Step up or step aside" had me chuckling.
Should FSG write to the Prem folks saying they are withdrawing the club this season due to fans being unhappy that their choice of players aren't being bought?
"Step aside" also sounds a lot like throwing the towel in and just giving up.
"Sing when you're winning" immediately springs to mind.
