Ed001 why do you think we are starting Mac Allister as a 6 ahead of Endo. He got chucked in the deep end when he first came I thought after the international break with the Japan victory over Germany he would have been flying.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is mainly because he likes those 3 in there as a trio. They work so hard and cover so much ground that I think it is felt that am actual defensive mid is not necessary.}

I don't think Endo is going to get much game time. It seems that Klopp prefers several others before him.
I don't have a strong opinion on Endo because I've seen very little of him but I do like a more defensive minded midfielder than the ones that have been playing. It looks like Endo was brought in as a squad player rather than a starter.
It's worked so far though.

Well the problem is Curtis is playing really well and is the only one you can change for Wataru.

Wataru Endo does not play left sided CM, which is were Curtis Jones is being played.

{Ed001's Note - no, but Mac Allister does.}

My guess is we'll see both Endo and Gravenberch tonight, probably in for Mac and Szob. If we go far in any of the cups then I'd expect to see him get quite a few games.

Ed001, it seems you're very right, if you look at the fact that Gravenberch has been brought in and we are (possibly) still pursuing the Brazilian, Andre Trindade. Neither is your classic DM type and both are more technical "ball-players" who can tackle, but far more adept at moving the ball up or mixing it up with the forwards.

I have mixed feelings about it. At the highest levels of a competition, I'd feel far better having a hard-nosed "stopper" being the first line of defense against an Mbappe, Haaland, Lewandowski or Kane.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on that too.}

The reason those three are playing is because the others aren’t up to speed or fully fit. Baj for me will be a definite starter in a month or so.

I disagree Mark, I don’t think Baj will be considered unless there is a drop in form from one of the starters. Sure he will get more minutes in the League Cup and EL possibly but I think fans are over egging his importance last season.
Not saying there isn’t a player there but I don’t see him stepping in any time soon under normal circumstances.

Endo like Fab before him probs has to adapt to our way of playing and that could take a while whilst we have a plethora of CMs suited to how we play. Klopp also said something about him being too polite early doors which I read as not being aggressive enough in his pursuit to start in training.

I’m with you Irish, I don’t think baj takes anyone’s place at the minute. I think once endo settles he will probably take a spot for the big games.

Johnny, and we did see Endo and Gravnberch tonight vs LC and both wee very good. Endo had a belter of a second half, IMO and got an assist. How much game time he gets is irrelevant to me cos there will be lots of rotation across all comps. this season.

Different horses for different courses I see endo starting against the city's and arsenal's with Jones benched and macca pushed forward.

@TIR, agree with you - Baj (or anybody) doesn’t get an automatic spot because he is fit, he gets a spot because he deserves it based on showing in training.

It's good to hear that Endo and Gravlax don't have any bladder problems. That will help the team's flow.

I thought Endo should good signs of improvement last night. Not enough to start games but trending in the right direction. Could be he is starting to find his feet a little more.

Bajcetic looks really good again to my eye. I think they are just easing him back in but it's clear he is as tough tackling as ever. Just a really exciting prospect.

Gravenberch still has a ways to go. Has to get that work rate up. There was a marked improvement from him in that area in the second half to first so as of now he is trending upwards so I ll take that. He was always going to be a project.

I'll be surprised to see Endo start against City and Arsenal.
I'd like us to play a defensive minded midfielder, especially against the better sides, but I don't think we will or that his qualities are enough to oust the players that are starting.

@Davey at the end of the day, that's all we are looking for. Gradual improvements from all our players as the season progresses.
