Just a note - Konate signed at Madrid for Β£400k a week (ish) that doesn't include bonuses, which will also be substantial

This is why negotiations broke down.

11

10 Jun 2026 06:56:16
No transfer so that's why they can pay more.
I wonder how much Sobs has been offered by them.

5

10 Jun 2026 07:03:54
How is this free transfer, big wages / signing on bonus, making Real Madrid's finances look? Better than transfer fee and lower wages?

2

10 Jun 2026 07:16:44
Thanks Nevada, your information is always appreciated. I'm not sure Konate would be a good fit for Iraola anyway. Maybe it's for the best we didn't offer him silly wages.

6

10 Jun 2026 07:27:38
Crazy money for an average defender.

9

10 Jun 2026 08:15:23
Offered to him over a year ago.

1

10 Jun 2026 08:28:12
Kopcat, this is what boils my p*** with both Madrid and players, it's disgusting if they are doing this, and worse, players stringing clubs along by pretending to be considering signing a contract.

4

10 Jun 2026 08:30:38
He's a French International and a Premier League winner so I understand why he would feel he's worth those wages, but how anyone could watch him last season and think the same is beyond me.

5

10 Jun 2026 08:41:24
Ed1, is a club instructing a player to wind down their contract so they can join for free with big wages a loop-hole in the tapping up rule?
Is it even considered tapping up?

1

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - if it could be proven they had done so, then it would be tapping up.}

5

10 Jun 2026 08:58:21
Regardless of the wages etc, I'm delighted he's gone.

4

10 Jun 2026 09:24:58
A player ending his contract and moving on is perfectly in his right. If they are stringing the club along, pretending they are going to sign a new contract when they've already had their head turned, then surely the onus is on the club to see through that. If negotiations are going on for years, surely that's a pretty strong signal?

2

10 Jun 2026 09:33:09
Not a lot you can do if a player wants to run down his contract. You can't make him sign a new contract, you can't make him accept a transfer... and at the end of the day, he is fulfilling his contract to the club. The power is with the players nowadays.

2

10 Jun 2026 09:45:03
This is the new contract the Club is prepared to offer you. It's non-negotiable... If it's not acceptable, we can talk about a transfer.
Simples!

2

10 Jun 2026 09:53:43
While I agree he was woeful this year, I think the lad struggled with losing Jota and his dad more than most. We didn't give him a send off because he thought he was staying only for the big Madrid offer to come in.

I dunno, just saying all my disappointment is directed at Real's business model, not at the kid who was huge for us a couple years ago.

1

10 Jun 2026 09:57:56
The way forward is if the player isn’t signing the contract, sign their replacement in the summer before their last year, and give them an option: either accept a transfer or become bench fodder for the next season while they run their contract down.

1

09 Jun 2026 20:03:38
Trincao of Sporting had been scouted since the club was sure Salah would be leaving.

I think he is the first choice to replace Salah.

It's a very long and convoluted tale how I came by this information bit I think it's pretty solid.

Seems like a good fit, Trincao is hard working wide forward with great first touch, scores goals and has an eye for a pass, also enjoys a nutmeg or two.

Predominantly plays on the right wing but can play on either. Strong with both feet and final bonus - presses very aggressively.

22

09 Jun 2026 20:22:44
Another floaty number 10 type as opposed to a pacy winger. Played most of his games last year as an attacking centre midfielder aka a number 10.

7

09 Jun 2026 20:36:08
He can play anywhere across the front three and the 10 position.

2

09 Jun 2026 20:55:21
Good age and stats plus European experience.

0

09 Jun 2026 21:00:05
Just read he's signed a new deal in March 2026, so unless there's a buyout which we would have to pay in full (remember the Varela deal), I'd say it doesn't happen.

1

09 Jun 2026 21:02:36
Already flopped in La Liga and the Premier League, never scored more than 10 league goals playing for a dominant team in a weak league. I'd rather keep Harvey Elliott.

14

09 Jun 2026 21:03:19
Not sure on this one!

1

09 Jun 2026 21:06:33
I'm with Vik. He is primarily a 10 and I'd rather sign a specialist winger.

5

09 Jun 2026 21:26:27
Salah replacement? 🀣

5

09 Jun 2026 21:45:57
Thanks for the info, Nevada. I was less than impressed with him at Wolves, but he's had many years of development since then.

2

09 Jun 2026 23:11:32
It worries me that when he played in Premiership before he struggled... hopefully if he does join he's improved massively.

0

09 Jun 2026 23:23:07
I really like Trincao. But I honestly hope we keep Harvey.

1

09 Jun 2026 23:26:52
Did Salah not play in the PL and struggle?

9

10 Jun 2026 00:02:02
Salah then excelled in Serie A, Stuie, Trincao has been fairly mediocre in a weaker league. False equivalence.

5

10 Jun 2026 06:04:21
Trincao, guys? Genuinely?
Standards absolutely on the floor.
And by the way, Stuie_boy, Salah didn't flop in the PL; he was thrown in the basement by Mourinho despite looking good nearly every time he played - as was De Bruyne.
Too many are stuck in the "74 overall but 97 potential" mindset.

1

10 Jun 2026 07:51:16
Why another AMC? We have too many soft ones already. Looking at him and his style of play, we have that in Wirtz already. Strange choice, if true, by the club. I mean, maybe let's just get players who are natural in the position we need them to play, and stop trying to be clever and playing mids on the wing.

0

10 Jun 2026 07:59:47
Although we ideally need two wide players, if we can get Diomande in it takes the pressure off a bit.

Trincao is being talked about as having a Β£50m buy out so could make sense at that level as a secondary signing given his experience.

Not sure he's got the pace though from what I've seen of him and that's key for any wide players. Semenyo was a big miss.

1

10 Jun 2026 09:58:25
He's been at Sporting for 4 years and is rarely injured. His goals and assists are good as well. In double figures for both every season, and he's 1.84m, so not lightweight. 75% of his time has been rw, the rest as lw or cf.

0

09 Jun 2026 18:06:49
Goncalo Ramos was one of two players we apparently watched recently for PSG.
The other was Barcola and not Zabaryni as some have said.
Apparently we have looked at him before and liked him from Klopp's time at the club.

6

09 Jun 2026 19:51:13
God, please nooooooo. πŸ™

15

09 Jun 2026 22:08:23
I don't see where he fits into our team.
We have Isak and Ekitike. Why would we sign Ramos?

1

10 Jun 2026 03:49:28
Thing is, Ron, we don't have Ekitike for at least 7-8 months of the coming season. We have Isak who I strongly believe will improve massively, but he is known to struggle for fitness or continuity and needs rest periods.

Danns is also very injury prone and not good enough for me, so if Gakpo is the only alternative to Isak, then I'm already uninspired for the coming season.

1

10 Jun 2026 06:19:11
What I would also say though is that Barcola would be the better buy for me, I think there is a tremendous player there, just needs to be a consistent starter. Still second in the scoring and assist analysis last season at PSG despite being in the shadow of Kvara.

0

09 Jun 2026 17:54:29
Oh, and also, Diomande to Liverpool has taken a huge step forward in the last hours.

Ta.

Nice one Carra, really happy with this one.
Just watched his story on YouTube. Looks like he has that real hunger and drive alongside great skill.

6

09 Jun 2026 19:34:37
Great news.

4

09 Jun 2026 19:44:40
Ta Carra.

5

09 Jun 2026 19:52:21
Carra, you think we get this done before World Cup.

1

09 Jun 2026 19:58:22
Carra has just seen him step on to the babelcopter.

5

09 Jun 2026 20:09:14
Thanks, Carra.

2

09 Jun 2026 20:20:18
Well done, Carra. You always brighten up the day with nice news. This is going to be a long summer.

1

09 Jun 2026 20:43:05
Thanks, Carra.

3

09 Jun 2026 20:56:01
Thanks, Carra. I live in Belfast and things are pretty bad here at the moment. They are beginning to riot and set buses on fire. I need a bit of escapism from the mayhem outside.

18

09 Jun 2026 21:03:59
Stay safe, Inbeta. Sending all my strength and love to you.

Ta.

22

09 Jun 2026 22:11:44
Thanks again, Carra, we really appreciate the info.

2

09 Jun 2026 22:42:17
Nice one, Carra.

1

09 Jun 2026 22:42:17
Cheers, Carra. Hopefully sorted soon.

1

09 Jun 2026 23:45:41
Inbeta... I'm currently in Belfast and it's kicking off. I'm in the fire service for my.
This page is a welcome escape from the mayhem.

7

10 Jun 2026 03:55:37
Belfast people stick together and always have done. They do remind me of Scousers in some ways. You will be fine.
I understand the frustration of the masses though, a terrible incident and God bless the guy injured by the attacker.

4

10 Jun 2026 07:17:36
I work in both sides of the community and have spent a number of years trying to move away from this behaviour through education, funding, mental health provision, counselling, and many other projects, but it just seems like there is a protest every week now and every summer is dominated by riots

0

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed078's Note - those riots don't happen by accident.
Remember the kick off in Essex because an asylum seeker was charged with touching a school girl? In the previous year there were over 1450 police reports for sexual assault in that same district. No protest, no riots, no nothing. It's almost as if the majority of the population don't care about crime, until it's committed by a certain type of person. Far be it from me to speculate why that might be.
The thing is, I'm an immigrant in a foreign land from where I was born (Alder Hey hospital if you must know), but there's something about me that makes me the "right" kind of immigrant....

6

09 Jun 2026 14:36:59
Lfctransfers reporting Eichorn has said no to LFC. Wants to stay in Germany.

2

09 Jun 2026 14:46:18
That's come from Plettigoal so I'd take that with a pinch of salt. There's a private jet from Berlin to Liverpool tomorrow.

9

09 Jun 2026 15:11:53
Then straight into the Babelcopter. πŸ˜‰

13

09 Jun 2026 15:17:10
Other German news outlets reporting the same. Apparently it's between Leipzig and Leverkusen now.

2

09 Jun 2026 16:13:32
He literally cannot sign for us, he's only 16. He can only sign for EU clubs. We were never a viable option, as the only thing we can negotiate is a pre-agreement to purchase him at 18, which would force him to stay at his current 2nd division club.

With the attention he's garnered, that was clearly never going to happen. This one was a non-starter from the get-go.

14

09 Jun 2026 16:55:09
Hold your horses. This is about navigating legalities and doing things properly.
It's still on.

7

09 Jun 2026 16:59:13
Kenny Squirrel turning us down?
He must be nuts.

5

09 Jun 2026 17:25:04
Apparently he will sign for a Bundesliga club with a release clause, which Liverpool will activate when he turns 18. The player's long term desire is to join Liverpool when he is able to. That's according to ITK Space anyway.

5

09 Jun 2026 18:11:41
Not 100% true, Chewy. On the top level this would be correct, but there are ways to navigate it. For instance, the parents can relocate to the UK and then we apply for a FIFA permit for the under age player, etc.

There are ways, however, looks like he's staying in Germany.

0

09 Jun 2026 18:31:52
As things stand, it's impossible. Relocating the parents isn't an option either. That can only happen if the parents relocate independently, for reasons unrelated to football. If his family did relocate, there would be an investigation, and we'd likely be hit with a hefty fine, a transfer ban and nulling of the player's contract.

3

09 Jun 2026 18:41:24
I'm just saying it can and has and will again happen.

Where there is a will there is a way.

2

10 Jun 2026 00:05:32
Seems to be that there is no will.

0

09 Jun 2026 14:21:40
Gjivai Zechiel I've been told was a player we were very closely looking at.

With a change in manager and prices being sky high for other midfield targets, I'll be curious to see if we follow up our interest further.

Ta.

39

09 Jun 2026 14:49:04
Never heard of him, but cheers, Carra.

6

09 Jun 2026 15:13:55
Thank you much, Carra. I wonder, is Wharton still a target now Iraola is here? πŸ€”

2

09 Jun 2026 15:17:28
Also had never heard of him, but reading up on him, he sounds very underwhelming. Many Utrecht fans have been complaining about his "nonchalant defending" and "lack of effort". On the flip side, many others have been massively praising his playmaking.

He got 10 goals and 10 assists in 50 games last season, and also looks like he never misses a game despite playing 90 minutes most weeks.

I'll keep an open mind, but getting mixed reviews in the Dutch league is a red flag. Against such weak opposition, you'd hope any prospective signing for a club like Liverpool was standing out week in week out.

12

09 Jun 2026 15:19:33
Don't know how good he is. But I like the idea of going for some hidden gems once and a while to spend bigger in other areas.

Hopefully, our scouting department is good enough to find some of these to compliment the bigger priced signings. Quality will still need to be a high level. He looks decent on YouTube.

5

09 Jun 2026 15:29:01
Remember Sky Sports reporting a Scottish footy team were buying Yema Selsavon. 🀣

1

09 Jun 2026 15:31:22
Think I would rather gamble on our own youth prospects than "gamble" on any player without a track record of note ...

6

09 Jun 2026 15:41:07
He sounds underwhelming.

1

09 Jun 2026 15:46:58
He isn't good enough for LFC.

3

09 Jun 2026 16:18:27
"Nonchalant defending" and "lack of effort." Maybe that's why Slot wanted him. He was on loan at Utrecht from Feyenoord, so Slot must have known him from there. Let's hope the club have moved on from him.

9

09 Jun 2026 16:34:42
Looking at his match ratings from this season, it looks like he is consistently excellent, but every now and then he throws in an absolute stinker.

1

09 Jun 2026 16:15:57
No more Dutch imports right now please and thank you

7

09 Jun 2026 16:53:04
Cheers, Carra. That's some name.

0

09 Jun 2026 17:08:11
He is a big scorer....

... in Scrabble!

Cheers, Carra.

3

09 Jun 2026 18:01:23
Yeah. Nonchalant defending has me put as well, if true.

But I stick by finding a few hidden gems. Like, I believe Geovanni Leoni is going to me. Those 20-30mill signings that turn out to be more than that.

3

09 Jun 2026 18:51:46
So defends just like VVD then. 🧐

2

09 Jun 2026 18:58:01
Looks small, weak, lightweight, and tackle shy, hard pass as he's clearly a Slot kind of midfielder.

5

09 Jun 2026 21:24:33
5-7", 150 Lbs.

1

09 Jun 2026 14:19:11
Are there any legs in Marmadashvilli actually wanting to leave now Alisson is staying?

I'm certainly not struck on him, left-footed keepers do not give me any confidence whatsoever for some reason.

Cheers,

2

09 Jun 2026 15:14:40
Alison has far nicer legs.

6

09 Jun 2026 15:41:26
And nicer hair and beard.

5

09 Jun 2026 15:45:26
Only when he shaves, Barry.

2

09 Jun 2026 20:54:11
Ray Clemenceau was left footed, didn't do him much harm.

0

09 Jun 2026 21:09:26
Is Ray Clemenceau a French cousin of Ray Clemence. πŸ€”

2

09 Jun 2026 22:13:56
Petr Cech and Iker Casillas were pretty decent left-footed keepers.

Ray Clemence was an obvious legend.

1

09 Jun 2026 22:18:20
Left-footism is a disgraceful stain on the game - far too much of it has crept in un-noticed. Left-footism needs to be stamped out now !! If not, I fear the game won't have a leg to stand on.

3

09 Jun 2026 10:02:04
LFC are interested in Nnamdi Collins, who can play both centre-back and right-back. He is from Eintracht, and the club are open to sell the lad after the World Cup.

9

09 Jun 2026 11:20:23
It does seem like Inter are closer to Palestra anyway.

2

09 Jun 2026 11:39:07
Interesting, also young and (according to FIFA, sorry!) is pretty quick.

Like the fact he is reasonably tall so would be a commanding presence in the CB role.

Interested to see whether we go into Geertruida (similar profile, bit older) or whether that interest was only ever there as he and Slot worked together in the past.

2

09 Jun 2026 11:56:36
I'm with you, Zed.

I really like the thought of Geertruida as a more economical option if the likes of Kayode and others are not attainable.

And I still hold hope Frimpong will do well in the new system. With the leash off, direct play and forward runners, it should suit him.

7

09 Jun 2026 12:13:00
Geertruida was one of my wishes when we had Slot. Now with Iraola, I'm not so sure.

6

09 Jun 2026 12:36:27
I get too, too, Faithinworks. He is not exactly a flying full back/crosser type.

I heard a value of 17m. I think he is great value at that, and pretty good going forward.

To be honest though, there must be a lot of right backs out there. Surely they can find a decently priced option that works.

2

09 Jun 2026 12:50:06
The profile of RB we need probably depends on the midfield choices we make.

3

09 Jun 2026 13:26:18
Come on, Carra, give us Yr daily dose.
What's happening inside the world's greatest football club.
Can't wait any longer, mate!!
Make something up if nothing new. We need your thoughts, any thoughts apart from anything to do with England's World Cup chances. Couldn't give a toss, rather watch paint drying in the blazing hot sun.
Thanks in advance......

2

09 Jun 2026 14:11:15
Until the system is understood it's difficult to know who the best transfer targets would be.

He seems to prefer a more dynamic system with a 4231 or 433 shape. It also depends what the real fitness issue with Macca is and whether there's a view he can recover his mobility and form, and what fee we could get if he's done. All the noise on Wharton and the Bournemouth player suggests he's gone.

With Connor's injury there's a need for an out and out right back, I'd guess the Italian as he'll be easier to get than Koyode.

You can also see why we're pushing hard for Diomande as he can play right or left, which makes him valuable and would mean it's not as desperate to buy for both flanks.

I think Mama will go as well now Alli is staying, so another backup keeper in or return for Jaros.

Beyond that I can't see us doing much business unless a lot of the fringe players like Curtis, Harvey and Jo leave, in which case we might bring a rotation option in for midfield.

It leaves the squad thin but that's the way we've always been run.

0

09 Jun 2026 19:13:29
Davey, Frimpong couldn't do well at an all you can eat buffet!

0

09 Jun 2026 09:05:40
Any news on Eichhorn? According to Sky Sports Germany, his release clause is only valid till the 15th this month.

5

09 Jun 2026 09:39:57
It is true.

1

09 Jun 2026 11:28:02
A release clause is valid for the registration of the player. Liverpool cannot hold his registration until he turns 18 (July 2027).

What is possible is Liverpool are negotiating something outside of the clause to secure him in the future and hope no EU club activates it before the expiry date.

Any talk of Liverpool buying him and loaning him out as a sweetener is rubbish.

3

09 Jun 2026 11:37:44
I would have thought it made perfect sense, Threeps.

0

09 Jun 2026 12:35:33
We can't legally buy him, so the release clause doesn't matter; we can only negotiate a pre-agreement to purchase when he turns 18.
