Hey ed002 seen a few rumours that jurrien timber might be of interest to liverpool can you clarify? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Jurrien Timber (CB) Manchester United and Spurs remain keen - price will be significant if Ajax agree to sell and he will not be first choice for either club. As a wildcard option, Liverpool could look to him after losing out on their preferred choice, but he would likely not be a starter ahead of Konate and van Djik which may make it difficult.}

Who is the preferred choice eds?

{Ed002's Note - Inacio is a player the club were keen on.}

Who was Liverpools preferred choice? Gvardiol? Maybe I missed something you already told us Ed002. Sorry if I’m just blind and cannot find it.

{Ed002's Note - Inacio would be the option for a high end CB addition. Gvardiol is not an option.}

He would be a strange choice. Tidy baller but not a good defender and doesn’t have the height needed for the PL.

Can I ask you the 1st choice was Ed 2 cheers pal keep the great work up man.

{Ed002's Note - Inacio - I have explained this before.}

Hi Ed,

Is our tapping up an issue with completing the Inacio transfer?

{Ed002's Note - They have no interest in doing business with Liverpool.}

Send Schmadtke in with an apology and a bottle of Barcelona Velha.

Thanks Ed. Terrible from lfc yet again and may well cost us 1/ 2 quality additions.

8.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 01:49:39
There will be dozens of potential quality additions that we won’t sign this summer - fact of life. There’s no point dwelling on what you can’t have.

17 May 2023 03:47:30
I don't think that is the main point here WDW. It is simply the fact that we again tapped up other club's player thus screwing them. We could have gone the correct way thus have at least a chance of getting the player that we want instead of p. ing them to the point that they don't want to do business with us.

10.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 06:59:02
Ah its only sporting, Porto or Benfica don't seem to have a problem with us! mountain out of a molehill.

11.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 07:26:09
I don't think that's the point Jude, behaviour ĺike this brings down the reputation of the club, if teams did that to us there would be uproar.

12.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 07:26:42
So not so sporting Lisbon, give them a lemon to suck, they'll soon get over it.

13.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 08:30:42
Inacio was a player within our reach. There is nothing to gain from peeing his club off. It’s happening too many times and Klopp I thinks he’s above the law. Get a grip man and operate properly.

14.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 08:38:42
For me, relationships are important. to know that there is such an impact on us being able to secure our targets should be alarming. I'm genuinely surprised that there are many fans who seem to gloss over this.

15.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 08:22:46
Do you think they can be persuaded to do business eds? Is the tapping up done by Klopp himself again?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Klopp is doing it.}

16.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 10:59:26
Have to say i literally couldn't care less about this sort of thing, certainly not going to start lashing the legend that is Jurgen Klopp out of it because of it. Do you think when the likes of Barcelona or Real have wanted our players in the past they've acted like absolute gents? c'mon now.

17.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 11:02:04
We do so much tapping up but yet still have the highest agents fees. Head scratcher.

18.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 11:08:03
Jesus. Do you think we can get it sorted and convince them to work with us? What a mess.

19.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 12:37:04
Question Ed1, do this tapping up by the club especially Klopp concern you? It is impossible to say that Klopp don't know the rule. It seems like no one at the club try to stop this kind of unprofessional behaviour.

{Ed001's Note - of course it concerns me, it is part of the reason we have so little money as we have had to pay off a number of clubs to stop them making complaints. It cost us extra on the Virgil deal. But, most of all, I just don't like it when there is absolutely no need to do it. We have an edge over 99% of clubs in the world when it comes to recruitment, so there is absolutely no excuse for us then trying to cheat too. If you are, for example, Accrington Stanley in the market then you can at least understand that you need to do something to give you a chance. But we are Liverpool, we have the advantage already.}

20.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 12:55:49
Is it Klopp just doing his own thing getting into contact with all these players or is it in a co-ordinated effort approved by the club? Is there a concern that the club grants Klopp too much free rein in an attempt to appease him? It is no secret that Klopp was a driving force behind many of our old guard signing new long-term contracts when the sporting director should perhaps should have been moving some of them on. Furthermore are Sporting unhappy with us specifically because of Inacio or does this involve Ugarte as well? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Sporting's issue is over Ugarte. I rather doubt the club have sanctioned Klopp to keep doing this.}

21.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 13:12:00
Do you think the club are too scared of upsetting Klopp to properly admonish him for repeatedly doing this, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I have really no idea.}

22.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 13:14:01
I’m just shocked klopp isn’t learning, especially after van dijk. Must p. off the scouting department too, recommending players then not being able to go in for them because of this.

23.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 13:31:24
Unacceptable behavior, Klopp needs to stop doing it there are no excuses.

24.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 13:40:40
I had no idea about any of this. Crazy.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp even mentioned at his press conference and claimed he did not know tapping up is illegal. So he is claiming stupidity.}

25.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 13:43:16
Very silly of us to repeatedly overstep the line. Ugarte and Inacio would've been good signings and now we have to move on from them.

However, i do really like Timber. I specifically named him as a player I'd like after we played them in the Champions League. He is really quick, reads the game superbly, and glides on the ball. Only noticeable flaw would be his lack of height. We saw Lisandro Martinez take time to adapt and he can still be bullied aerially by the likes of Toney, Haaland and Mitrovic. Timber is a few inches taller than Martinez though so might fair a little better. I think he'd suit the new look back 3 perfectly though; in either Konate or Robbo's position especially.

26.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 15:07:04
Klopp quote in his last press conference: “When I talk to a player, if I'm allowed which is barely the case, you can realise if they are interested, we are not 100% in the Champions League next season and they would know that. ”

Seems as if he’s aware he can only talk to them in certain conditions - unless I’ve missed another quote where he claimed otherwise?

27.) 17 May 2023
17 May 2023 15:30:10
That's the curious bit Ed001, there's not really a need for it. Surely Klopp can relay a decent message through the agent if he wants it to be personalised. It's not as if he can speak Spanish or Portuguese anyway, so it all seems a bit mad to me.

{Ed001's Note - it just feels like he hasn't realised that he is no longer at Mainz or Dortmund and is at a club that has serious pulling power. I love Klopp but he is not perfect and this is one of his imperfections that we need to deal with as a club. It is not difficult for them to stop him doing it.}

I know it's "the rules" so I'm not going to argue what Klopp is doing is okay but they do seem a little naive. In my line of work it's open season for poaching employees from other firms. Linkedin is like one big poaching social media network.
