Do you people agree with me that Karius played well today? He decisively came out of his line twice to punch the ball away. As to the mistakes when kicking the ball, I think he just was too relaxed and keen to show how good he is with his feet.

It's hard to judge when he's given so little real work. He dealt with the two set piece threats decisively and effectively, but he cannot dwell on the ball like that, and I think he always has an inclination to take risks in his play (it happened a couple of times in pre-season too) .

And considering he's technically pretty good, it's not like he actually needs to take touches.

Still, if it were up to me I'd continue with him. Will be interesting to see what Klopp does.

I thought he was very commanding with the crosses he had to deal with, the only issue was his footwork when he almost got caught a couple of times.

i agree for the most part, I think he tried way too hard to impress but I thought he commanded the box on the two punches that you reference.

I was thinking the same just now. He's got negative press for the faffing about but he was decisive when it came to the couple of punches.

You would hope after the first time he would've had some urgency on the ball but the guy was too chilled out, ironically the exact opposite of how us fans felt at the same time.

I don't know, I'm not sure that he showed he'd learned lessons from last season. I mean it's bad enough he nearly messed up in the 1st half, but to do it twice more in the second half?! He wasn't helped by he ball back the third time but still, same unforced errors. Be interesting what klopp's plans are though, who will be in the sticks against city and what is he going to do with ward.

I think because he seems to like to play the 'sweeper keeper' role, he wants to play out if the box with his feet. The trouble is in the EPL you get much less time on the ball so he is always being hurried, which either leads to a poor clearance or a pass putting another player under pressure. I think someone needs to have a word. Crosses he was more decisive today, but personally I'd like to see him catch a few balls instead of punching them all. I think he will find things easier when he has a solid back 4 in front of him. There will be fewer nerves and mistakes, but he must cut his out as well.

He was decent with his hands and poor with his feet. Which is the opposite of Mignolet. But as a keeper I know which one I would prefer. If he has too just stick it in row z when it's at his feet. He dealt with the 2 punches very well. Commanded the box for them and got good power and distance on both. Again something that Mig doesn't do.

One of Mings main flaws is his footwork and kicking, I've a feeling Karius was trying to show his foot skills and over egged it.
Over all I felt better with him in goal today.
If Mings does go I'll wish him well but feel the two we have will easily replace him.

A bit too early to judge him as he had no shlots to deal with. His distribution is way better than Migs and that is a fact, known since he arrived. He tried to do too much and he'd better learn from that as the EPL does not allow time for relaxing. He made no mistakes, looked commanding in his area and dealt with the two crosses with authority as well as keeping a clean sheet. All positives, in my book NUT he will have more difficult days in the future if he indeed gets the start next time at City.

No shots to save and Arsenal had 2 corners and not many free kicks. Just a great team performance in front of him.
