Was really worried that it would be a game where he would be badly exposed, but he was well supported by Lovren and the midfield, tonight he looked like he had learnt from his mistakes and grew up as a player. Still only half time but 3-0 is a great start.

I wasn't worried about TAA at all. I always knew the kid would show up and play. My only fear was that would Klopp put in place a plan to protect him and he did and the guys like Lovs, Salah, Milner and Hendo were brilliant in plugging the holes and never leaving him too isolated. Even when he was, he shut Sane down and allowed next to no dangerous crosses. I backed him all the way like many others did and this will prolly teach others to not give up on your own esp. one who you know has the potential to be great.

This is the special thing about watching a young player find his focus and put some all important experience under his belt.

It's too often forgotten in the modern game. Very few kids at his age compete without fault for 90mins and unless we persevere and see them through the good and bad times we'll never give them the chance they deserve.

Today proved that he has the quality that is expected at this football club and until he has ironed out all of his shortcomings we have to stick with him. How else is he going to grow as a player.

Contender for MOM for me.

Yes, credit to TAA, but also credit to Klopp. He had clearly instructed the team to assist and TAA wad rarely left 1v1 with Sane. But when he was, he handled it well. It was different to Man U and Palace though. They played long ball flick ons which exposed a weakness in Trent's game. City don't play that style so it suited TAA better. However, City targeted that side through Sane and it failed. TAA should feel good about that for sure.

I have to apologise to Arnold as I had him down as a weak link and to be replaced by Clyne for tonight's game. Take a bow son you were fantastic.

never worried about trent. expect him to make mistakes and also expect he will learn from. might take a couple games to get it right but that is part of the learning curve for a kid right? and if he ain't playing, he ain't really learning ye!?

Tbf I think sane had the beating of taa a fair few times but looked to me the team decided swamping silva and kevin dB was the more important to stifle their play, sane got free a few times dropping deeper and playing salah off taa and Milner but it worked a treat as he fluffed all chances. Great tactics although very risky. Great display through the middle where they clearly have more quality but what a performance from our front 3 again, thinkin mane is in the form of his like at tho mo too.

{Ed0333's Note - I believe Mane has another gear in his locker. He’s playing well of late but not his blistering best.

For his age and inexperience he was astounding. He's what 19? Playing against one of the best footballing teams in recent years and he gives a performance like that - we can't really expect any more from the lad!

He's not alone in making mistakes but the important thing is that he is learning from them - he is just a kiddie.

Give him time and show him a bit of patience - he has the potential to be phenomenal.

I really think we have to live with the mistakes. the learning he is getting for the future and the natural talent he has is worth it to me. yes, even if it costs us a game or a final. I just think we have to back the lad to shine and let him learn on the job. either that or we protect him and then send him on loan to the champiosnhip next season or summing. keep him here!

Disagree a bit there, Mickmullin. Sane did NOT fluff his lines by a lack of effort. He fluffed his lines cos we had a plan to never leave him isolated with TAA. He was their only outlet all game and everyone knew Pep would target him. You know who else knew that? Klopp. which is why he devised a game plan to get TAA help and for 90% of the time, it worked. The times he was isolated, he stood up to Sane and almost never letting him get to the byline, showing him inside where his "help" in Lovs, Milner and Salah at times, was. Sane did make runs but NONE of them were dangerous and that in itself, is a huge win for TAA, Klopp and the boys. That is called good coaching and preparation. We beat City in ALL depts' of the game esp. tactically where Klopp at Pep's lunch AGAIN. Nothing was given to us. WE TOOK IT.

Truth, I applaud your honesty, man. I know we both spoke about TAA before the game and I'm glad you came around. You have my respect, man.

Faith can’t agree more. Said this the other day. He will of course make mistakes as he’s young and learning his trade but we need to allow him to do that to fulfill his potential. By crikey tho, he was bloody amazing last night, Robbo too. Massive team effort from all of them. They should be proud of that performance 👏.
