Anyone else slightly worried the fact we are loosing Hendo and Fabhino and looking to replace them with the likes of Lavia or Palhino? I know lots of fans will be pleased to see the back of both players but they are very experienced players.

Just replace them properly and it’s no problem. City have lost Gundogan Kompany Silva Otamendi Hart Sterling over the last few years all of whom you’d called experienced and been fine.

We have to evolve at some point, fergie refreshed every year and let go of key players without a second thought, if we are clever and ambitious someone like a kimmich, llorente could add experience but wages always going to be a problem.

Daretodream they both leave as legends but as last season proved they are well past their best. Henderson has been declining ever since we won the league. So to get between £50m to £60m is great move. If we can get 2 more midfielders in and sell Matip and get a another cb in to push VVD and Gomez to step up previous levels and to try and get Konate to be more consistent I think it will have been a great window.
I think the lad from Fulham had a great season but at 28 for the price being quoted think we should stay clear as seems short term. And with Brighton only wanting £20m more for caicedo who is only 21 seems like a lot better deal.

We were never planning on selling Henderson, our Captain asked to leave so he could line his pockets further, that’s not excusing the fact that our midfield had been neglected for years but I have no doubt that Henderson was 100% expected to stay this summer.

It just feels rushed because we neglected it for 2/ 3 years. All this change should’ve happened over a period of time but obviously it backfired last season so its all systems go.
Hendo, Ox, Naby, Milner, Fabinho, Melo, Carvalho and counting.
All from midfield. I think it’s clear to see where the weakness is ?.

Hailstones surely wages have been reduced with ox Keita Milner Hendo Fabinho potential others departing although we have bought 2 in. It almost feels like we lost to many disciplined defensive midfielders and are just left with attacking mids apart from young Bajetic? We need 2 defensive minded CM, s in the door and a other CB else will be short. It certainly feels that way anyway unless I’m wrong?

Zeddicus I write this post not with the friendly match in mind pal, meaningless game. Grino75 I hear ya agree to a degree mate but that’s only if we pump that money back into the squad as you say 2 more midfielders is a must. I just don’t think the ones we are linked with carry enough experience?

Thiago, Macca, Szbo, Jones, Elliott Bajetic is our core. Gakpo will play in a deeper role some games. Trent can drop in there. We only need one defensive minded midfielder and one more the next summer (as Thiago will go) . Tyler Morton, Bobby Clark can help. We don't need the volume of midfielders we had last season. 1 midfielder and 1 centre half and we're good to go.

DTD, my post was aimed at redrebel, not you mate.

I am, like you, slightly worried and I would expect us to add an experienced (ie 26-28 yo player) to the midfield - someone like Goretzka or Llorente - who can provide that leadership in the centre of the park.

I'd also expect (hope? ) that we can get Lavia and also a left sided CB. In an ideal world, move on Phillips and/ or Matip and upgrade the budget for said CB.

It’s just the 2 you’ve mentioned aren’t cropping up much it’s the other names that are circling that dint fill me with confidence, even the guy from palace is he really that good enough for us? I see he been baked at 70M by his club now also lol. We must get 2 in the door, we even shoehorned tmisikis in midfield tonight.

It does make for frightening reading. 6 midfielders let go or sold, although 1 was not our player, and 1 loaned out.

2 Incomings who now need to bed in immediately and a scramble to get new players in. Hope the movers an shakers have a plan.
