Read this morning that a merry go round of senior players is happening, Stevie G leaving (gutted) alonso to juve with pirlo coming to us.

Tartanred

{Ed002's Note - Ironically most of the Liverpool supporters on these pages have been trashing Gerrard all season - now we have a love-in for him. Didi H has stuck his foot in it with an article and is getting some ribbing from a couple of journalists this morning - "Gerrard might be the last great player to spend his entire career at one club" - where is he going Didi?}

1.) 16 May 2015 09:44:32
MLS doesn't count Ed

{Ed002's Note - It obviously does to Little Stevie Gerrard who is packing his Jose Mourinho pyjamas and heading off to play there this summer - rather than in Liverpool.}

2.) 16 May 2015 09:48:12
I never trashed the guy . Players in there now not good enough to lace he's boots . I'll give coutinho a pass on that . The moronic had a go . I blame Brenda for sticking him in deep n exposing him .

3.) 16 May 2015 09:57:56
I thought the same thing when I read it. What a donut.

4.) 16 May 2015 10:16:08
Nice bit of Banter there by Ed. If he returns to the prem for another club I'd agree. Perhaps DH should qualify his statement with entire "prem" career. But I take it the Pirlo rumour has zero truth in it?

{Ed002's Note - So you are proposing different criteria for Gerrard because he is in some way "special"?
Maybe it would be better for DH just to come out and say he screwed up and has made himself a laughing stock rather than coming up with some truly pitiful statement as you suggest? It is nice to remember Gary Lineker spending his entire career at Nagoya Grampus Eight though.}

5.) 16 May 2015 10:59:44
Technically, thus far, he is still a one club man.

6.) 16 May 2015 11:39:31
Gerrard's play declined with age, but he is clearly "special"

The toe-poke-king also played for Leicester, Everton, Barca and Spurs

{Ed001's Note - I think you are missing the point there.}

7.) 16 May 2015 11:46:40
Misread it, sorry Eds

{Ed001's Note - I thought you must have somehow. No worries mate.}

8.) 16 May 2015 14:02:03
Hi Ed, curious if you think Pirlo rumour has any legs? Seems a very odd choice to me. Also if Alonso leaving, would we consider making a bid for him? I would love to see Alonso back as a deep lying playmaker/defensive midfielder as I think he's better defensively than Stevie G so a more natural choice for the role even if he's also getting on a bit.

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe there is anything in it. Also not convinced we would move for Xabi either, sadly. I think he would be very suited to us right now with his experience.}

9.) 16 May 2015 15:04:16
Agree - would be huge step in replacing the experience of SG in the dressing room and provide some serious quality in the defensive playmaker space for Can to learn from and take over in a year or two. and he loves the club so one might hope he'd seriously consider it

10.) 17 May 2015 12:14:38
Hi Ed.
You really should have a bit more respect forother people s opinions.
Stevie G has finished his top flight playing career with us as his only club.
Didi H. was a great player who was only paying respect to a Liverpool icon.
That word respect is something you could learn about .

{Ed001's Note - so you don't think people should be able to have a laugh then? Only Didi made a mistake and is taking the jokes in good humour, so what has it got to do with you if he is getting a bit of stick? You are another one making a big mistake, a disrespectful mistake at that, by suggesting MLS is not top flight, when they are the USA's top flight league. So I would suggest winding that neck in.}

Seen this morning we're linked with a move for Tevez, any truth in it?
I think he'd be a great signing, similar player to suarez.

Tartanred

{Ed002's Note - Boca Junios would like Carlos Tevez to return this summer but (a) money for a transfer and wages will be an issue, and (b) Daniel Angelici has seriously miffed Juventus instructing Tevez to terminate his contract by whatever means are necessary. Trading some cash and options on midfield prospect Adrián Cubas, striker Guido Vadalá and/or Federico Bravo may be something that suits all parties - but the players would need to agree. Adrian Ruocco has said Tevez will see his contract out and then move to Boca as a free agent. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Tevez.}

1.) 15 May 2015 09:03:34
Surely if he wanted to leave England playing champions league football and earning astronomical amounts of money,he wouldn't return for a lot less money and Europa league football?

Can't understand why we're looking at brining in a CM when we have the German U21 star playing as centre half, surely Can is the answer to CM, if he's deemed good enough to be the lynchpin of the German side surely he can do the same for us?

Tartanred

1.) 27 Jun 2015 22:05:37
Great lynch pin ;) lol

Nah can is far from ready, it's just uneducated fans who see an alright performance and believe there 'world class'

His main issue is his fitness, it's awful. He is always panting like he's ran a marathon 5,10,15,45,69 mins.

2.) 27 Jun 2015 22:44:25
Hmmm wasn't doing much lynch pinning against Portugal U21

3.) 27 Jun 2015 22:54:46
Has always looked completely lost in midfield in the Prem games he's played there. Love him as a player but let's have it right about where he is right now.

4.) 27 Jun 2015 22:58:14
Has a poor game and the 'true fans' jumping on his back straight away when they were all going in after his goal and assist. He's young and he's going to have poor games learning but he was one of our best players last season out of position. Let's learn to support our players and not trash them after a poor game and we might help them play better through support

5.) 27 Jun 2015 23:15:27
Can has great potential and will be a great player in time, but he is not ready yet. If he gets the dm starting place over lucas we won't even get near the top four by november.
He needs more time to develop.
Lucas does that role better and more reliably than any other player we have.
What on earth is the matter with BR trying to force out the best dm we have?

6.) 27 Jun 2015 23:41:23
Spot on Redman96.

7.) 28 Jun 2015 00:10:41
Think he played one game in midfield in the league so can't really judge on that. If the team's fitness is poor that's down to the poor coaching team including the manager

8.) 28 Jun 2015 05:02:27
Redman96, I have never seen anyone here refer to can as World Class. He is a good player with potential for improvement.

9.) 28 Jun 2015 06:52:06
Can will be an excellent player but needs to be given the chance to play in his preferred position to develop.

Redman as fans we are perfectly entitled to appreciate one of our players, is that not what fans are supposed to do or should we just constantly criticise.

10.) 29 Jun 2015 01:31:12
People say Can is poor in midfield yet barely ever plays there hence, how can you call a midfielder who never plays in midfield, a poor player because that is just hogwash?

04 Jun 2015 14:43:34
Now that Juve have signed dybala do you think a move for tevez is an option?

Tartanred

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}

26 May 2015 10:34:05
How restricted are Liverpool by FFP? It may be an impossible question to answer but how much money do you think we'll have to spend in the summer (assuming Raheem isn't sold)?

Tartanred

1.) 26 May 2015 10:55:12
It isn't so much of ffp, it is simply tge top 4 have a far greater spending power. End of!

If we got taken over by a sugar daddy ffp would not be an issue!

Even more so now they are relaxing the rules.

{Ed002's Note - You clearly don't understand how much Liverpool has spent nor FFP. And Liverpool has a sugar-daddy.}

2.) 26 May 2015 10:56:54
Id say its a Sell before buy policy for this summer.

3.) 26 May 2015 11:15:00
A sugar daddy?

4.) 26 May 2015 12:53:08
Seriously ed? A few million quid fine and a restricted squad! Hardly a big deal is it?

{Ed002's Note - This is why we don't discuss money because you have no grasp of the situation at all. I remain truly astonished by the complete lack of knowledge people like you have. €60M is the highest fine handed out. Seven teams were banned from competition last year alone - the levels of pig ignorance and arrogance are astounding.}

5.) 26 May 2015 19:55:52
Guys, just read the posts and stop asking the Eds about money-related issues because clearly it is hard too understand.

25 May 2015 08:59:33
Just to put things into perspective:
Juve's midfield (Pirlo, Pogba, Vidal, Marchisio) cost the club €12.5m. Joe Allen cost £16m.
Hopefully the transfer committee get it right this year.

Tartanred

1.) 25 May 2015 09:44:27
That would imply taking chances on young, cheap players as we have been doing. Yet by doing that the risk of failure is high and the wrath of the fans is brutal. That method requires patience which is non existent amongst this generation of fans. I have high hopes and expectations for the likes of Can, Coutinho, Markovic etc, but it could be years before they become world class players. Then fans will look back and say they were good Rodgers signings, but at this present time fans scream about money being wasted.

Red Rum

2.) 25 May 2015 09:27:10
Joe Allen was not a Transfer Committee buy he was a straight BR buy as was Borini and Oussama Assaidi.

3.) 25 May 2015 10:09:39
Joe Allen for 16m is a joke.

4.) 25 May 2015 11:46:07
The real hope is that there won't be a Transfer Committee after this summer.

5.) 25 May 2015 11:46:07
The real hope is that there won't be a Transfer Committee after this summer.

6.) 25 May 2015 18:32:27
Joe Allen will never be of the same standard as any of those if he played for another thousand years. He's too small, physically weak and dominated by opposition players, his range of passing is poor and he doesn't read the game very well. Why we parted with £15m to sign him I'll never know, but he Sums up Rodgers tenure as manager.

04 Jul 2014 17:32:33
Why aren't we looking at mats hummels? Surely he'd be a better signing than lovren
