First time visiting the page after the Man U defeat, usually takes me about that long to get over it.
There is something clearly not right in the team at the moment that runs a little deeper than Rogers refusal to change tactics at short notice. Sterling looks a shadow of the player we know. Yes I know Rogers is creating a stir in the media about this contract but once the players on the pitch he's got to ignore it. I don't understand why clubs open contract negotiations mid season, it can only cause problems. Just do it all in the summer when the club knows where it finished and what competitions it will be playing in. Balotelli after scoring 2 winning goals in 3 games got shunned, and not looks like a disinterested wandering red card waiting to happen. (Are any of the fans who held him back members of the site? Love to congratulate you) Sturridge is isolated, coutinho can sure hit them but has a tendency to dissapear for most of the game, popping up to curl one wide trying to recreate his city goal. Skertls stamp is moronic and if I was the FA i'd ban him for longer, stamping on other players ankles is thuggish and dangerous. Which brings me onto our captain, who it appears has gone senile. How on earth did he think he would get away with it? What was he thinking?
When we play well we look like we could beat anyone, but when we play poorly we look like we could lose to literally anyone too, including the worst united side for 20 years.
Brendans biggest issue as a manager, consistency. Weve given him over 2 years and £150m+, and he's found exhilarating and shocking, and everything in between, but he still hasn't found consistency. I think its make or break next few weeks/months.
However all lots of posters are doing is moaning about everything, and I think its fair to praise those who deserve it. Hendersons been unrelenting of late (next captain for me no doubt in my mins), sakho, who although looks like a newborn giraffe on ice on the ball, has beaten more players in the last 3 games than any of our attackers, and special mention to Mingolet.
Mingolet has taken unlimited abuse from posters on this site almost since the day we bought him. He's been our best player since christmas, lots of clean sheets down to him, really turned his season around, showed the strength of a liverpool player.
The only time I cheered all game against united? When Mingolet saved the penalty to stop that miserable spud-faced plonker breaking his 10 year duck at anfield.
Fans need to show him more credit.
Fingers crossed for top four.

Can't agree more. Don't know what's up with Sterling, when is Ibe due to return? and Gerrard. well it seems he's destined for failure recently. On a positive note this reminds me of last year when we beat Man city and thought that was the title decider which didn't turn out to be the case. Maybe this isn't the top 4 decider, what I'm trying to say is: I don't believe the race is over. We have to beat Arsenal obviously.

I honestly cannot believe how anyone can moan about Baloteli didn't get enough chances. Two winning gaols in three games wow. Well one of those have been penalty. I have to say every minute I have seen him play this year, every minute literaly I thought, wow, he can't be so bad, he can't be so childish, he can't so so lazy and showing offish. He got a lot of chances and the only time he showed a bit of his abilities was when he took that ball from henderson to kick that penalty.

Re Sakho - don;t know what people want of him and his control of the ball. i said several times he is our best passer. I really enjoy to see him with the ball. It is just an optical illusion maybe because of his run that he is not good with the ball.

I don't think the fact that Sterling has been shocking has anything to do with his contract talks (and if yes it is only his problem - should have signed it long ago).

My main concern is how injury prone we became. Everytime someone is finding his form he becomes injured. And the problem is we don't have good enough replacements. We paid a very heavy price for Sturridge's injury, we paid some price for Lucas and Ibe, not sure what is the story now with Ming and Lovern (we need him fit as Skertel is banned) and most worryingly Sturridge again.

3.) 26 Mar 2015 09:28:10
For me there seems to be a problem with creativity in r team I don't know if the problem lies in wide areas r in the middle but we r not giving sturridge the service he needs if countinho has an off game.

4.) 26 Mar 2015 12:07:10
Come on guys, sterling is beeing played as a lone striker or wb either right or left. Blame it on the manager.

5.) 26 Mar 2015 12:26:09
I do somewhat agree with you Ztoopid, but if you flip the coin, if Raheem Sterling think he is worth a big contract he has to have the versatility to play in more than one position.

6.) 26 Mar 2015 16:44:18
Kckred, that is a false argument. Does Messi play leftback and right wing back because he`s paid a fortune? NO! Sterling will be better for it by playing multiple positions at his early age BUT he needs to play where he is most effective which is either wide attacking the flanks or thru the middle.

7.) 27 Mar 2015 10:38:08
Sterling is being played at right wing back - as position that greatly hampers his ability to make his mark on the game. He is far more effective attacking and, even more so, when played centrally. He is being badly mismanaged and he is 20 years old (so prone to consistency) - that he has yet to sign a new contract does not change those facts.

"Something not quite right about the team at the moment"
After 1 defeat in 14 games.

{Ed001's Note - but how many good performances in those 14 games?}

Haven't posted in a while but still visit the site from time to time, and am dismayed that even after this huge pick up in form we've been having all I see on this site is people moaning. Is that all Liverpool fans are capable of any more?
We're second only to Southampton in the form tables I think. Weve only conceded 3 goals in out last 7 games. (1 in extra time, and 2 penalties). 4 clean sheets in 7 games? We never got that last season when we were supposedly doing so well. Brendan looks to have sorted the defence for the first time since he took over, and as we saw against Bolton, with Sturridge back and Coutinho on form we actually no longer have the cutting edge of a jelly, and can score under pressure!
This team is so young aswell: Can, Sakho, Moreno, Markovic, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, 7 of the starting 11 are under 25, Sturridge is 25. This team can grow into something special with the right additions.
So yes we need another firing striker, yes we should be replacing mingolet in the summer, yes brendan does have issues talking to the media, and yes we are in some debt which needs better managment, but there is still a lot to be optimistic about at the moment.
Its one thing to moan when you're losing, but to moan when the teams winning really makes me wonder about some 'fans' on here.

Why is it that being able to see that not everything is rosey, looking at longer term view and wanting something different, some change, no matter how it is phrased, is moaning? As you say there is a lot of good happening but there is also a lot happening that is bad for our club and if we keep ignoring it, it'll keep getting worse. You aren't a fan just because you sing when you're winning

2.) To be fair to Migs, yes most liverpool fans were not happy with him earlier in the season, But, he has def improved 100 per cent, looks a lot more focused, much better on crosses, is commanding his goal area, and getting more clean sheets,
I think we should be giving him all the credit that he deserves,
yes another keeper to come in to keep him on his toes, sell him, no way .

Jordan Ibe just banged one in for Derby, good to see, will be a very good player with the right development, bit disappointing he's gone one loan

Thrilling end to the game, Champions League is back at Anfield. Ok it wasn't a sound performance but how much more exciting is that ending that a boring 2-0 win.
In serious though I was calling for Gerrard to come off all night (was glad he was on for the peno though). Our build up play compared to last season is SO slow, no one running in behind, no wonder Coutinhos not finding the balls he used to, there's no one behind the defence to play them too.
Also whereas last season we were the counter attacking side, now were being countered attacked on so easily as someone is crowded out in midfield and fullbacks have pushed up. Gerrard no chance to get back because of his pace, and Sakho Lovren need a bit of time so can look a bit wobbly. People seem to have forgotten Sakhos double mistake for when they hit the post.
We have to play 2 strikers at the weekend, i'd play Borini worked hard and played for the team when he came on first one to congratulate Balotelli and Manquillo, him and Balo have the same first language easy communication. i'd also play Lucas ahead of Gerrard at CDM. 2 games a week at this stage of career is near impossible. And an ed mentioning flanagan at CDM has got me excited, love to see that sometime this year.
Positives though, Got the 3 points, Moreno looks sick, Studge and Allen back soon, and were going to win the champions league.

Waited til now to post about the Villa game because I've been a bit depressed until now, but it really isn't the end of the world as some fans are suggesting.
2nd was an overachievement last season, and that amazing run of 11 wins will have disillusioned fans into thinking were unbeatable. We will be battling for 3rd-4th with Arsenal Spurs and maybe Mancs (theyve spent 150m net you'd have to think they'll get their act together soon).
Also the 4 games we've had so far this season have been tough, City Away (Toughest match in the 38), Southampton Home (Lost that one last year), Spurs Away (Top 4 challengers) and Villa Home (Who haven't lost at anfield in about 5 years and are our bogey team). Many Many easier games to come. Also we started with 6 new signings in the 4th game, big mistake from br, just haven't had time to gel yet, as much as I rate them all.
The final thing? Of course we miss Suarez. I think as a brand were better off without him, and the money was spent fairly wisely, but you just can't replace one of the worlds top 3 players instantly, his spark of genius, the 'final ball' as rodgers keeps saying.
However after all this there's so much reason for optimism with exciting signings getting used to the club, Raheem turning into the player we all knew he could become, Studge and Can (Who will be a wonderful signing mark my words) back from injury in not too long, and Champions league back at Anfield tomorrow.
If you're ever down about a Liverpool result, think of the 3-1 defeat to Blackburn under Hodgson, and think where we are now, and get a little perspective :)
Cheers

Read an interesting stat this morning on Yahoo Sport or something (haven't checked it though). 'Whilst wearing the captain’s armband, Henderson has played 12, won 10 and drawn two matches.' Amazing stat if its true.

Chelsea knew they were going to finish 3rd and Palace were already safe last time. No premier league team steps out with the intention of losing. That methodology of 'they won't care about winning' has proved itself wrong on numerous occasions.
