Question on the VVD situation (Yes I did use the search function first :P)

So why precisely can we not bid for him? What would actually happen? I am not asking what did happen, that has been written about at length. Although we royally p****d off Saints what happened that is such a threat we now won't bid? It makes no sense. If we did something horrendous Saints would have made their complaint official. So that can't be the case.

Ed02 mentioned FA are not involved and 'people are making stuff up'. But what would be the reality of us bidding now?

Thanks Ed002. So in your opinion we have no interest anymore? Because Saints made the complaint? If that is the case then it seems very unlikely that Saints anger would disappear. Which would mean there won't be a deal.

am i right in saying for us to bid for van dijk, that southampton would have to contact liverpool first to give the go ahead?

if liverpool went against what their previous public statement said and submitted a bid to southampton, would their be some kind of acceleration to Soton's formal complaint? is it a matter of shame for the owners if they did that? or does it implicate the club in further loss of credibility and respect in world football that would have long lasting effects on the club? I think that's what BB is asking?
