Surely it isn't where but how he is scoring that should be the decider. A player who gets in the right places at the right time and takes the chances will do that most places. Chances are being created every week, the problem is the players aren't always in the right place or don't have the natural finishers instinct. A player who does those adds to the team.

If LFC get 60m for him then every possible replacement will suddenly cost 60m as well same as the Andy Carroll situation. Replcement would need to be done before Coutinho deal confirmed.

Why are people so sure Brannagan is going to be sold this summer?

Freshst

{Ed025's Note - because he has a for sale sign on his back.. :)

Is Ojo seen as an option across other positions rather than on the left or is he not considered good enough? Sorry just the age of some of the names floating around isn't much more than him so seems odd.

Freshst

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if Klopp doesn't think he is ready but he has chosen not to use him. He can also play on the right.}

If de Gea moves to Real you can expect united to throw money at a replacement. Ditto Courtois leaving Chelsea or Loris leaving Spurs. Just my view but I see City looking for another keeper in summer as well. Hart seems to be saying he doesn't expect to be there and Bravos hasn't worked out.

out of interest are all the players signed the key ones they wanted or how many were one of many options or the second or third option on the list? I've assumed that for the last decade or more LFC wouldn't be players' first choice so signing the ideal player for what is needed won't have always happened?

Freshst

{Ed001's Note - does it matter? If we had a decent recruitment set up, the second and third choice would be perfectly good signings in their own right. When Leicester ended up with Kante, he was a third choice signing. They went back this summer and got the first choice to replace him. I fail to see why our scouting and recruitment team cannot find 5 or 6 perfectly good options in every position. We are not trying to improve on Messi, we are trying to improve on our side and they should easily be able to find plenty of players for every position to improve on those players. Or, at the very least, maintain our level.}

I'm not sure it is chances either. I seem to remember even the low scoring games the number of chances or half chances created was big. The issue to me anyway is there isn't someone who will consistently put away chances, hence such a wide spread of scorers. Do need to be able to create against the defensive teams but also need someone to be consistently in the right place, consistently finishing and consistently fit. Getting all 3 seems to be struggle. Creative ability doesn't seem to be the challenge so much.

Freshst

{Ed001's Note - and we are scoring plenty. It is not goal scoring we lack. Why do so few of you get this? Goals win games, but defences win titles. Until we have a decent defence it will not matter how many we score.}

If goals is the issue then people are missing the point that he isn't meant to be a main scorer, that is being picked up because of a different problem, no consistent scorer. so him and Firminho look like they're not doing enough. Same with assists, you can only get an assist if the other guy scores. Get a striker who will score around 20 league goals a season and those 2 will look like they have a big value.

Personally not sure that Origi will ever be the bags of goals scorer LFC needs and I am sure Firmnho isn't that player. without a player who will consistently I don't see how winning the league can be viable.

Thanks for the reply Ed001 would it be safe to read into that, considering his age that they see him as being one to come through to regular first team in the next couple of years?

Freshst

{Ed001's Note - yes.}
