Question for ED01 if he is about.

Who would you say in your opinion is a viable alternative to VVD?
Have we looked at anyone else as 2nd choice. Or is it eggs in one basket?

I'm currently wishing we had a 10 years younger carra!

Although we have problems at the back, we seem to not be the only team.

If you look at Arsenal and Chelsea's opening matches, they have are in the thick of things too.

Klopp will have to address the problem in our defence i. e. set pieces.

Is it not a little short sighted to only want one player for a position? I just can't understand all eggs in one basket. Seems to me if there's a position to be filled, it should be filled and if the priority player is unavailable, the idea of an alternative should at least be explored. I know many of us still think vvd is coming in, but what exactly do we do if the window shuts and Chelsea have completed the deal.

Another long time reader and 1st time poster.

Well, what a disappointing transfer window this could turn out to be.
This was the one where we all expected the club to push on and make the step up to title challengers.
However, we are in a situation where one of our best players could be on his way with only 4 days to go till the league kicks off and only 23 days left in the transfer window.

Add to that the total debacles regarding VVD and?

I'm a fan of Klopp in the man management/ motivating players sense, but the mess we are currently in is down to his complete lack of discipline.

And if we have put all of our eggs into the VVD/ ? baskets for our transfers, then the club needs to have a long hard look at itself.

The other concern I have is that if everyone knows (as it seems they do) in 2 years Klopp is going to Klipp off to Bayern, how can he be motivated to do the best possible job he can do?

By nature I'm a positive supporter. I believe ( as does Ed01 I think ) that our current 1st 11 is a match for any team in the league, but we needed to push on and make the squad better. Salah looks to be a great signing. Robertson is a natural left back which we needed. Solanke has looked good in pre season. But we need more. And selling couts is not the way forward.

I'd like to think that the management team had back up plans for all the above not going to plan, but at the moment that doesn't seem to be the case. And of course, none of us know the exact details of what dialogues clubs have with each other. But it's safe to say Southampton are pissed at us, Leipzig are pissed at us. Who knows who else!

Anyway, that's my 2ps worth.
