What did everyone think of the gardener challenge on Lovren? Personally I thought it was quite reckless and he never seemed in control. Also the lack of acknowledgement of the foul from the ref was a tad annoying especially after he gave a free kick against skrtle in the first half for a reckless challenge even when he didn't make contact with the player. Sorry for the moan!

On a plus side, origi is looking decent and we're playing right til the end and not farting about with the ball until the whistle goes.

ScouseBard

{Ed001's Note - without doubt a deliberate follow through.}

1.) 13 Dec 2015 20:07:50
Do you think he'll get a retrospective ban for it then ed001? I know it's gone and won't affect us but it looked a nailed on red at full speed and looked even worse in the replay (armchair fan for the day : ( )

{Ed001's Note - impossible to tell with the FA, they ban one player for something that seemed like nothing, but then let someone else away with a terrible challenge. A lot depends on the ref's report.}

2.) 13 Dec 2015 20:12:50
He raised his leg after he got the ball. Not to hurt Lovren and only to protect himself but deliberate is what it is.

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe there was any intent to protect himself, it was one of many similar challenges made by Pulis's men. It is something that prick sends his players out to do, hurt the opposition to gain an advantage.}

3.) 13 Dec 2015 20:09:36
So if he didn't get a yellow even, he should be looking at retropective action?

4.) 13 Dec 2015 22:05:00
Isn't there a bFA ruling where if the incident is in the ref's eyeline no retrospective action can be taken? There was a incident recently and I remember it being bought up.
Maybe in the Chelsea V Liverpool game if anyone can remember?

5.) 13 Dec 2015 23:06:38
What about Milner's reckless studs up challenge catching a west brom player on the lower leg. Anybody have a view on it?

6.) 13 Dec 2015 23:18:39
He should be banned could of ended lovrens career just saw the challenge on motd and the ex qpr manager said it was fair! Wtf is the boy on!

7.) 13 Dec 2015 23:20:13
There is no debate it was an awful tackle and the follow through was entirely intentional.

If Dejan has gotten away with a bad cut and some bruising then he is a lucky boy.

I would hope for a ban but the ref can't say he didn't see it and so there I don't expect anything to happen.

8.) 13 Dec 2015 20:33:35
Will retrospective action be allowed as no punishment given?

{Ed001's Note - depends on what the ref puts in his report. As there was no punishment given, there is scope for action.}

9.) 14 Dec 2015 03:40:43
Ref was pathetic the whole game so i wouldn't rely on the refs report, from the first 4 minutes he had already lost control of the game.

10.) 15 Dec 2015 02:53:04
I saw the tackle again. You don't need to have played the game at a decent to see that Gardner was trying to hurt Lovren with the follow through. He could have just cleared the ball and recoiled his legs and avoid contact but he did not. He went full force into the follow through and almost put Lovren into a cast. And to hear the commentators say he was just protecting himself, is what got my blood boiling.

So happy to see the positivity on the site after a game! What a game that was! Could not take my eyes off it. Lallana's work rate was impressive, sakho was immense. We were lucky in places but there seemed to be a new willingness to throw everything on the line to stop the shots and passes.

All in all I'm relatively happy with the result but hoping for a bit more of a goal threat on Thursday. What did you all think?

I felt the team seemed more confident in their play. A lot players pulling of little flicks and turns was refreshing. First twenty we played really really well and hopefully that's a sign of things to come. Another plus was we defended well and players were putting themselves in to block shots. Have to say Mignolet did well and hopefully Klopp can get more from him over the next few weeks.

Have to remember we had 8 first team players out three of them this week so not best preparation for the manager. All in all was a good result

Clean sheet.
Good defending.
Good work ethic.
Improved passing and movement.
Players look more confident.

Spot on, Jones! The boys fought hard, rode their luck a bit but did well. Had we had our three first choice strikers, we would have beaten Spurs today. But Origi did his best and never stopped running. Bravo to the boys!

Hi all, long time reader first time poster. Big thanks to the Eds for all their hard work and great sense of humour. Just thought I'd ask a question to get you thinking about the positives.

Which Liverpool player at this moment in time deserves a song from the Kop?

If you already have one you have made yourself throw it up as well :)

Cheers

Coutinho

2.) 12 Aug 2015 15:58:12
Countinho deserves and probably our next main Man.

3.) 12 Aug 2015 16:35:12
Countinho already has a song

it was sung at full voice after his goal on Sunday, until after full time

4.) 12 Aug 2015 17:53:42
None of them there all shite.

Rodgers out!!!

5.) 12 Aug 2015 18:08:07
Coutinho already has a great song! he's had it since 2013/14 season too!

6.) 12 Aug 2015 19:52:59
Henderson!

7.) 12 Aug 2015 20:39:58
I thought Benteke should have a song to the tune of Run DMC's "It's tricky"

We bought him from the villains
Thirty-two and a half millions
But then we realized his talent does not have a ceiling
He jumps over defenders
and scores a fair few winners
He orders Belgian waffles
but he eats your team for dinner!

He kicks it every time
Over (the line), Big Ben (on time) BENTEKE
BENTEKE
(Benteke) teke (Teke) teke (repeat)

He's taken a few knocks
But don't ask how much he costs
'Cause when he's free inside the box
He scores, like it or not
We brought him down the Mersey
and gave him the red jersey
Now he plays for us, and you can trust the opposition's cursing!

He kicks it every time
Over (the line), Big Ben (on time) BENTEKE
BENTEKE
(Benteke) teke (Teke) teke (repeat)

8.) 12 Aug 2015 22:40:42
Henderson already has a song as well

9.) 13 Aug 2015 01:10:50
Hardly hear the hendo song at anfield though. What happened to singing to the Gk? Mignolet ole ole.

10.) 13 Aug 2015 10:09:38
I love that benteke song haha it's brilliant!!!

I thought about emre can. To the tune of the candy man can.

Who can make the mancs cry?
And the arsenal fans too.
Who can boss midfield and score a goal for you?
Emre Can, Emre Can can.

The second team can change for preference too :D

11.) 13 Aug 2015 10:28:01
Yeah I hope it gets sung more now he's captain, I think it's a beast of a song!

12.) 13 Aug 2015 11:40:38
Maybe something for Ibe based off good vibrations. Something like:
I loooove that red shirt you wear, and the way you skin defenders with your flair.

He's putting down the good Ibe-brations, banging goals and starting celebrations.

Could expand on it if wanted?

13.) 13 Aug 2015 18:47:20
Thanks ScouseBard!

Of course, I'm waiting for Dejan to score a winner so I can hear Anfield erupt with "you've got that Lovren feeling"

Sorry Alan have to disagree on the Lucas thing. I thought he was immense in the first half he was pulling strings and added some security to the back 4. Think he had to come off as he was absolutely shattered. Although was great to see rossiter come on and get some experience! Good point earned, could have been 3 but could have been none of not for a bit of luck with the linesman .

Yeh I agree with you there. After seeing can come on and change the game last week it's a no brainer. However, I think he will start the same way as last week with 4 5 1.

Waro, why such a negative post? Maybe being left out the squad might make someone whisper in his ear "play so good that dunga can't leave you out" so then he plays the best season of his life hopefully gets us some silverware and then becomes a regular in the Brazil national squad? Not everything is doom and gloom :)
