Posted this last night but not on site so I'll try again.

There's online video footage of an Anfield stadium tour earlier this week and in the dressing room it shows the jerseys hanging on the pegs of players from last season. All the players who are confirmed as leaving have the 22/ 23 jersey hanging up and the rest of the team have the 23/ 24 jersey hanging up. Interesting then that Tiago, Gomez and Kostas all have the 22/ 23 jersey so looks like their on the way aswell.

It's definitely an intriguing thought and makes sense, to a degree.

There's definitely been talk around Matip leaving and we've seen the rumours around Thiago and the Saudis. Kostas definitely seemed to indicate that he's leaving with his tears at the end of the season.

The only thing is, if we let Gomez leave also, wouldn't that leave us incredibly light in defence?

I know it looks incredibly likely that we're going to sign a CB (likely a left footer), but surely we'd need another if Matip and Gomez left?

How much revenue would those 4 bring in, do you guys think?

Might get the guts of £60 mill I would say. With biggest variables being Tiago and if Saudi come in with bigger offer than we would get elsewhere and also Gomez who I really have no idea what we could expect.

I would say more important would be the 400+k in wages it would free up if Tiago is on about 200, matip 100 and Kostas and Gomez at 60 odd? These are speculative from my end.

But selling matip and Gomez would definitely mean we would be in need of a top CB coming in and possibly 1 more even a bit younger or as a happ back up.

Out of youngsters who could come in? Koumetio looks way to raw and Van De Berg could maybe be promoted to konate understudy as he is happy defending in wide areas?

I really don't know, to be honest. Van De Berg seemed to have impressed on loan, but he's been very unlucky with injuries.

I suspect we'd be looking to bring a couple in. If we were to sell those 4 players and bring in around £60M, I suppose it's do-able.

Obviously, we've been linked with Timber - who looks very versatile - but, it seems Arsenal have already been rejected at £30M, so I suspect he might go for an awful lot. Plus, ED02 has already said he has preferences for a move that don't involve LFC (apologies ED02 if I misread! ) .

The only other one that I've heard we have real interest in is Ricky Van De Venn (I've probably spelt that wrong) . The only thing I know is that he plays at Wolfsburg, is incredibly quick and can likely play both CB and LB.

Time will tell, I guess.

Yeah Parma I agree with you, if you look at our defense as essentially back 3 now with Trent doing his thing,

We have robbo in left side of 3 with let's just say van de venn (or timber) either way that's one signing.

On the right you have konate and for argument let's promote van de berg.

That still leaves just van dijk as the central option with no back up really. (Presuming Phillips and Williams both also go as neither suit our style of play imo and probably just aren't at the level we need)

That's why I'm saying it looks like we would need to potentially go big on another option at the back especially with van dijk struggling to regain top form and will need to be gradually phased out moving forward. Even as a first choice he can't play every single game we have this season and expect him not to breakdown at some point.

I don't even know who to suggest for this role really that's in anyway feasible. All in all I think that we will keep one of matip / Gomez and hope to figure this out next year tbh.

We are looking at Micky Van de Ven who is left-footed and can play both CB and FB. Also Billy Koumetio, also left-footed and Jerell Quansah are both highly regarded, one or even both might be promoted to the first team squad.

Just saw the clip. It was Gomez, Matip and Thiago.

Kostas was the new jersey.

I don't think it means anything though. I remember when I was playing there was always a few old jerseys. I'm guessing people stole the newer ones or something. You d be on the pitch and 3/ 4s of the team looked premier league standard in their beautiful fresh jerseys while the other 1/ 4 looked like kids from the 50s.

Reality is they are close enough the jerseys. The lads will just wear the old ones. It will be grand.
