Good evening Ed02,
Inter's Alessandro Bastoni has come up in various places connecting him to Liverpool.
I haven't found much on this site's search archive about him, nor in the Italian media and he seems to be tied up nicely with Inter until 2028 having renewed only last year.
Anything to it?
{Ed002's Note - No.}
1.) 28 Aug 2024 17:29:18
thanks, obviously dredging the barrel.
2.) 28 Aug 2024 19:45:19
I would've loved us to have signed Alexandra Bastedo. One for the older posters.
{Ed002's Note - The Proector.}
20 Jun 2023 19:38:19
Ed02, if I may. Back on May 31 you shared your list of defensive possibilities stating that Gvardiol wasn't going to happen (with other clubs circling him) even though he was Liverpool's preferred choice.
Just out of interest sake, is/ was the reason because of price (other clubs causing an unrealistic auction scenario) or for other unmentioned reasons?
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have moved on. Others offer either a significant fee this summer and one has discussed a lower fee and taking him next summer.}
1.) 21 Jun 2023 08:32:25
Off to ManCity.
2.) 21 Jun 2023 09:22:59
Is this a case of being able to buy 2 for the price of 1/ the search for value in an overinflated market Eds?
The question is, Is Gvardiol twice as good as VDV2 or Colwill, whom we could probably both buy for the same price as Gvardiol.
I like the idea of buying Colwill, although I doubt CFC would entertain .
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not one of the clubs who have approached Chelsea about Colwill.}
3.) 21 Jun 2023 10:47:07
Colwill looks a real talent. Apparently Brighton bid £40m but we're told he isn't for sale.

I'm actually not exactly sure why we need a striker - and spend big bikkies on one. Am i the only one? Do i need to get my coat? ?.
1.) 21 Jun 2025 11:26:53
Get ya coat buddy???.
2.) 21 Jun 2025 11:34:08
I would buy a striker and play wirtz and salah behind him with attacking full backs but I watch the games from my sofa not the dugout so it’s anybody’s what the tactics are with the new additions.
3.) 21 Jun 2025 11:34:39
Well if you think Nunez and Jota are good enough then good for you. We 100% need a striker for me.
4.) 21 Jun 2025 11:49:44
I have a feeling we will be fairly adaptable. Line up 4-2-3-1 as usual. But could go 4-2-2-2 in some games with 2 10s, Salah and An Other up front with the FBs as wingers. Exciting times ahead.
5.) 21 Jun 2025 11:57:27
I’d be happy with Diaz as our striker again next season.
But if we can we should look to replace Nunez whilst he still has a shred of value compared to what we paid for him.
6.) 21 Jun 2025 12:01:38
Is Hot shot Hamish still playing? (Anyone born in the 70s and liked reading comics, help me out! )
7.) 21 Jun 2025 12:22:24
Hamish could be the Scottisher we need to win the League if Robbo goes.
8.) 21 Jun 2025 12:48:27
I think it’s an area we are clearly weak in and can definitely upgrade, I’d expect us to do so.
9.) 21 Jun 2025 13:45:19
I haven't gotten to the coat stand yet.
My argument is: with what we seem to be setting up with (it's all about 10s, baby), how essential and core will a n9 be actually be?
Sure we'll have one but how do we know that, i don't know (HYPOTHETICALLY speaking) Jota, won't thrive in the new formation?
Just thinking out aloud. It is getting cold in here, mind. Maybe I'll just grab my. . . .
10.) 21 Jun 2025 15:41:42
I agree with you, delvecs.
Obviously it depends on who leaves but I think we might buy someone that covers the front three positions.
I can't see us buying someone like Isak, as well as Wirtz when Salah is is going to play and we play with someone on the left. If we change formation, possibly, but that is more likely when Salah goes, imo.
11.) 22 Jun 2025 03:27:02
One of our 2 CFs was booked more times than he scored last season. Perhaps if we had a decent CF - 20+ goals and 10 - 15 assists we would have another string to our bow on the way we set up / play.
13 Jun 2025 17:44:58
Ed001,
You must be delighted with the Wirtz announcement. Can we have your thoughts? Always appreciated and add to the enthusiasm.
{Ed001's Note - I couldn't be happier mate, I think he is the best player we could possibly have got this summer. He is an Alisson/VVD type of signing. The player that takes the team up a level. It is especially good as the thing we most lacked last season was creativity, something he has in spades.}
1.) 13 Jun 2025 17:51:20
Bonza mate (as we say in Oz) . I'm as happy for you as i am for me and the rest of the weird family on this site. Cheers. Avagoodweegen.
{Ed001's Note - Christmas has come early this year.}
2.) 13 Jun 2025 18:29:17
I know YouTube highlights are terrible for getting an idea of what a player is like but wow his highlight reel is pretty amazing.
Completely agree ED01 - Wirtz is the real deal. He could very well become a club legend given he has only just turned 22.
Exciting time to be a Liverpool fan.
3.) 13 Jun 2025 18:32:23
We re unique delvecs. Some more unique than others.
Just a big band of unique people pondering the fascinating Liverpool transfer world. occasionally dipping our toes into politics which causes a temporary storm in our little tea cup. Meandering through knowing our every step and comment will be criticized by Leek.
It's like our big gold fish bowl of friendship, all the while being preyed on and spied on by the group known as Lurkers who will kill us off eventually one by one.
Aaah.
It's heaven here.
4.) 13 Jun 2025 19:17:53
Have a look at the adam clery football channel video about him on YouTube. Very exciting signing.
5.) 13 Jun 2025 19:20:30
Milly is going to transition to and be a great manager as well (has all his licenses) . Ed's and members any opinion on where he might eventually start his managerial career?
6.) 13 Jun 2025 19:59:32
He’ll be a better coach than a manager. Has everything to be a fantastic coach.
12 Jun 2025 11:54:02
Anyone see RM's new brazilian number 12?Tasty branding.
1.) 12 Jun 2025 13:08:35
He had to go with his first name because Madrid didn't want to pay for all of the letters in his surname.
2.) 12 Jun 2025 13:24:13
Speaks better Spanish than Scouse almost like he’s been having lessons for a couple of years.
3.) 12 Jun 2025 13:30:37
Thank you for support!
We know.
29 May 2025 05:11:15
Geez, the Lemon Merengues are a nasty piece of work. #Wirtz2Lfc.
16 May 2025 13:45:51
Anyone think there could be any shock sales this window? For example, i don't know, McAllister to RM ?.
1.) 16 May 2025 14:09:07
Mac isn't available for free so I would not worry about RM.
Plus he has a decent contract length.
Ali would be the one I would perhaps have an outside chance however i think he will stay another season then take the saudi money for GM to take over.
2.) 16 May 2025 14:23:15
Real Madrid paying money to buy a big player? Nah.
3.) 16 May 2025 14:30:07
Why would you think Alison is money orientated? He will be here for a few more years yet. When he does leave he will go back home. Did he not say that?
4.) 16 May 2025 14:30:25
Almost every player will have their price. You can never rule out surprise departures but even then it would likely only be if a replacement could be sought in time. I think Konate is the most likely first team player to be sold.
5.) 16 May 2025 14:47:56
I reckon Alisson will see his contract out with us, he may even sign another contract yet. He's going nowhere anytime soon. Thankfully.
22 Jun 2025 05:18:04
I wouldn't spend silly money on either of them.
We have 6 front line forwards already, 3 of which didn't perform optimally last season. Sell 2 and keep the one that might fit into a Wirtz system better. Spend money on defence. Done.
21 Jun 2025 17:13:43
The only talk about Napoli is around Ndoye. Not sure where this Chiesa/ Nunez move has come from. Anyway, Desperate Scousewives confirmed Spain, so Spain it is, as far as I am concerned.
21 Jun 2025 16:49:42
I'm with you @NMB. Sure Carra and Akira are the ducks nuts, but when you're Duncan Assoles there's no turning back.
21 Jun 2025 11:03:06
Not sure anyone is saying they're happy, WoW. It's just business based on all the ifs currently surrounding Konate. If he's off, he's off and we look to replace. Best be prepared for any eventuality.
21 Jun 2025 06:50:56
Duncan Assoles is one of the great porn name euphemisms I've ever heard. Compliments. And to think he has a second job. Amazing.
22 Jun 2025 08:08:48
A bit of a tirade there, Akira.
However i would subscribe to much of what you have said.
There is a lot of Klopp-fawning and reverse engineered mythology going on sometimes. He should definitely not have renewed that last time and i say that not in retrospect but what i felt at the time. His (fantastic) job was done after 7 years.
I like the Shankly-Paisley metaphor used elsewhere but it's probably too reductive.
We play Slotball now. No looking back.

Have you pinched Dickie's spreadsheet?
19 Jun 2025 09:45:50
Troll or no troll, I immediately felt younger and fitter just then.
16 Jun 2025 06:55:31
. and if we actually didn't buy a striker? didn't need one? Keep our powder dry and work with what we've got? Thoughts?
