Absolutely flawless stuff, Ed01. Even in the 3rd division, Pep still had the best team and resources to work with compared to the part-timers he was going against. Seeing a theme here?

Pep is a fantastic coach who turned a pretty much underachieving team into one of the greatest teams in club football history. That said, the team he inherited were very good in terms of player personnel. They were just underachieving with the hopeless Rijkaard. I give him credit for getting them to buy into his ethos and getting them to work hard and fight for each other and for him. That was a tough sell clearly.

However the main point you made near the end, is spot on. His record and achievements are overblown hence, his screwups are glossed over, IMO. The guy is very much up his own backside now due to the hype and clearly believes in it cos it had cost him time and again esp on the CL, always trying to reviver the football wheel so one can say he revolutionised the game whereas none of that is true. Until Pep stops doing that and goes back to what made him great at the start of his Barcelona career, he will continue to struggle, IMO.
